Chelsea FanCast Preview Show #870 Jan 21, 2022

Show notes

Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd look back at the 1-1 draw against Brighton and look ahead to another crunch match against rivals Spurs.

Adam Newson from Football.London joins us in part one to look back at the Brighton match. Was the lacklustre draw down to just a poor performance, or was it due to physical and mental fatigue as Tuchel claimed? After the spat between Lukaku and Ziyech are we talking bad apples or a serious rift in the camp? Has Tuchel exacerbated the problem re-enforcing to the players that they are tired but overplaying some? And how worried are we about Arsenal & Spurs having games in hand?

Ricky Sacks from the Last Word on Spurs joins us for 'The Opposition View' this week. Does Ricky think that Spurs can catch Chelsea; how is Conte doing in righting the Spurs ship? How will Spurs set up against Chelsea and how does Ricky see it going, plus his prediction.

In part three, Chidge and JK preview the Chelsea v Spurs match. Chidge gives his Team selection and we ask whether the 2 days off will make the difference. What must Tuchel do to get the strikers firing? Should he play 4:2:2:2 again? It's always a must win match against Spurs and invariably Chelsea do but we outline how we see it going and finish off with our predictions.

On the show tonight, in part one, we look at Tuchel’s questionable team selection where the defence worked but we struggled up front with poor performances from Pulisic and Ziyech.

Show notes

Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Dean Mears to look back at the 1-0 victory against Spurs in the Carabao Cup semi-final 2nd leg and ahead to Saturday's big match against Man City.

Adam Newson from Football.London joins us in part one to look back at the Spurs game where Rudiger was just outshone by VAR as the man of the match. Referee Mariner was woeful but it didn't stop Chelsea from reaching their 9th League Cup final. Adam was at today's press conference so we catch up with all the news ahead of the Man City match.

David Walker from Read But Never Red joins us for 'The Opposition View' this week. Do City have issues with covid, fatigue, AFCON and injury like Chelsea? Is the title done and dusted. Will Pep go 3 at the back or 4? And how does David see it going on Saturday.

In part three, Chidge, JK and Dean preview the Man City v Chelsea match. We look at the team selection and ask how Tuchel will approach the match tactically given, by his own admission, he made a tactical blunder last time against City. Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Tony Glover and Alex Churchill to look back at Saturday's FA Cup victory over Chesterfield and ahead to the Carabao Cup semi-final 2nd leg against Surs on Wednesday night.

On the show tonight, in part one, we applaud a fine debut by Lewis Hall and Chelsea getting the job done with a minimum of fuss and Tuchel getting the opportunity to give some much needed rest to key players.

Chelsea FanCast Preview Show #866 Jan 07, 2022

Show notes

Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Mark Meehan and guests to look back at the 2-0 victory against Spurs in the Carabao Cup semi-final 1st leg and ahead to Saturday's FA Cup match against Chesterfield from the National League.

Sam Inkersole from Football.London joins us in part one to look back at the Spurs game where the bit part players like Saul, Sarr and Ziyech really stepped up in a dominant win over shambolic Spurs. Out of necessity Tuchel went with a 4:4:2 which worked well but how did Romelu Lukaku do, serving penance after his faux pas this week? And while Spurs were rubbish, at 2-0 they are not out of it yet because we were wasteful AGAIN!

Dave Garratt from the Legends of the Spire podcast joins us for 'The Opposition View' this week. We talk to Dave about Chesterfield's rich history & players; the 1997 FA Cup semi-final and Chelsea and Chesterfield's shared connections including a surprising song we share. Dave also tells us about Chetserfield's current form, formation, tactics and style of play and the likely team selection, what we should be worried about and how he sees it going.

In part three, Chidge, JK and Mark preview the Chelsea v Chesterfield match. We look at the team selection and whether it will be a mix of squad and youth players and indeed should it be? Should Lukaku start and can Chelsea maintain the intensity and quick ball showed against Spurs & Liverpool? With Chelsea's incredible FA Cup record, how much do we want to win it this year? And finally, how do we see it going.
