Chelsea FanCast #938 “Two Wrong Wing Backs Don’t Make a Right Wing Back” Oct 17, 2022
    Show notes

Stamford Chidge and Jonathan Kydd are joined by Mark Meehan to look back at Chelsea's 2-0 win away to Villa and ahead to wednesday night's match against Brentford.

On the show tonight, we ask is Kepa Lazarus in disguise? Why did Potter stick with wing backs? Applaud a MOUNTainous performance from Mason and a proper win even though Chelsea were often second best, but hard earned with moments of magic.

In part two we ask is it time to replace Sterling with Pulisic? How long should we be patient with Havertz? Discuss the possiblity of Gallagher and Broja getting more minutes and more Potter in game wizardry and with Chelsea now unbeaten with 5 wins 1 draw, 13 goals scored, 2 conceded, 4 clean sheets, 4th place and 4 points behind City & Spurs with a game in handl it’s beginning to look a lot like Chelsea!

In part three we preview wednesday night's match against Brentford. We discuss the possible team selection and wonder whether Potter will rotate with Utd on Saturday? And looking at Brentford, they appear to be schizophrenic but have only lost to Arsenal at home this season. Ivan Toney is a handful and Brentford, currently in 9th position in the league are clearly no mugs. We discuss how we see it going and give our predictions.

We wrap up the show with your emails.

Chelsea FanCast Preview Show #937 Oct 14, 2022
    Show notes

Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Dayne Whittle and Football.London's Chief Chelsea Correspondent Adam Newson to look back at the win against AC Milan and ahead to this week's Premier League match against Aston Villa.

We discuss an excellent win and mature performance against AC Milan that put Chelsea top of the group with two matches to play. Aubameyang was on the scoresheet again and Mount was again outstanding.

The only blot was Reece James going off injured, and in today's press conference we discovered that the injury may be more serious than thought. We discuss what this may mean as well as the news that Kante will certainly be out for 3 months. With Kante's contract expiring at the end of the season, should the club renew it?

In part two Justin Hawthorne from Up The Villa joins us in the 'Opposition View' to discuss what's going wrong with Steve Gerrard's tenure? How close is he to getting the sack and how does Justin see the match against Chelsea going.

We wrap up in part three with our preview of the match including Chidge's team selection, how we see the match going and our predictions.

Chelsea FanCast #936 - “Sheep in Wolves Clothing” Oct 10, 2022

In part two, we look at Potter’s in game formation changes; ask what difference he is making to the team and applaud the number of home-grown players getting game time.

In part three, we have Sheridan Bird, Serie A football writer and broadcaster on the show to preview the match against AC Milan in the San Siro on Tuesday. And in part four we do our own preview of the match against Milan.

Chelsea FanCast Preview Show #935 Oct 07, 2022
    Show notes

Stamford Chidge and Jonathan Kydd are joined by Clayton Beerman and Football.London Chief Chelsea Correspondent Adam Newson to look back at Chelsea's 3-0 win against AC Milan on Wednesday and ahead to Saturday's Premier League match against Wolves.

In part one we look back at Wednesday night's 3-0 win against AC Milan. It was a good and much needed win for Chelsea but how poor were Milan? Reece James was phenomenal and Ruben Loftus-Cheek was majestic; Auba was on target and Mount looks back on form. All in all, well done, Potter!

We also look at Chelsea looking like they are about to apppoint Christopher Vivell from RB Leipzig as Technical Director and with the Man Utd kick off time being announced today, Chidge goes on the warpath.

In part two we preview the Chelsea v Wolves match. Chidge delivers his team selection; we ponder the return of Diego Costa and Wolves' horrible form. Finally we discuss how we see it going and give our predictions.

Chelsea FanCast Preview Show #932 Sep 30, 2022
    Show notes

Stamford Chidge and Jonathan Kydd are joined by Martin Wickham and from The Athletic, Chelsea correspondent Liam Twomey to chew the fat over the last couple of week's Chelsea news and look ahead to the match against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

In part one we discuss 'Potter’s Presser', the form of Mount & Havertz, and will 13 matches in 6 weeks be a help or a hindrance and what do the number of recent departures from Chelsea mean for the club?

In part two we look ahead to Graham Potter's first Premier League match in the dugout for Chelsea as they take on Crystal Palace on Saturday. What will his team selection be? Will Conor Gallagher feature against the club he played so well for last season? We wrap up with our predictions for the match.

    Chelsea FanCast #931 - Paul Canoville Sep 27, 2022
    Show notes

Stamford Chidge interviews Paul Canoville, Chelsea's first black player and a skilful winger in his day, forever remembered for that game against Sheffield Wednesday.

Paul Canoville was Chelsea’s first black player and his story is incredible. Subjected to racist abuse on the terraces, Paul had to show huge strength of character and dignity to win over too many of his own supporters.

Highlights of Paul’s all too brief Chelsea career included a hat-trick against Swansea, but he played a crucial part in the legendary 4-4 draw away to Sheffield Wednesday in the Milk Cup in 1985, coming on as a second half substitute with Chelsea 3-0 down. Paul scored twice, his first after just eleven seconds, as Chelsea salvaged a remarkable draw.

In arguably one of his most forthright, honest and moving interviews yet, Paul talks about his time as one of John Neal's great side; the players, the matches and the goals and his struggles with racism, drug addiction and homelessness after football.
