Wide Right ReCYcle Ep. 6: 2013 Kansas Rewatch (Blarge/Elijah Johnson game) Apr 26, 2020
    Show notes

    Send us a text

In week 6, Jake Brend, Sean Dee, and Austin Keeney take a look back at another infamous loss in Iowa State history.
This rewatch triggers a lot of old emotions and makes for a pretty heated discussion.
The guys go more in de-depth with this game than most, leaving the segments a little more surface-level than normal, but there's still a lot of meat on that bone. We find out that one member is a closet Bill Self fan.
As always, we want to thank Es Tas Bar & Grill for making this show happen.

On tonight's show the gang welcomes in longtime contributor Jared Larson as we go over The Last Dance Documentary, the latest news on the G-League signings and also the roster hell of Iowa State hoops.

With those topics comes a myriad of discussions and tangents and all you would expect from a normal Litecast episode.

As always we want to thank Es Tas Bar and Grill for their sponsorship for the Wide Right Network.

2020 Iowa State Football Roster Deep Dive with Jay Jordan (52 Trap) Apr 22, 2020
    Show notes

    Send us a text

Levi and Jay are back again this year to do a deep dive on the 2020 Iowa State Football Roster. Both of them placed Iowa State's potential contributors next season into tiers, categorizing them by their potential relative to the national landscape and the Cyclone football program. It's a long episode, but you won't find a more complete guide to the Iowa State football roster, and who you need to be pay attention to in the 2020 season.

Wide Right ReCYcle Podcast Ep. 5: 2012 Kansas State Rewatch Apr 19, 2020
    Show notes

    Send us a text

In the fifth week of the ReCycle podcast, Ryan, Sean, and Jake rewatched the 2012 road game against Kansas State, also known as the Scott Christopherson game.

The game was competitive, back-and-forth, and fun but the guys focus mainly on the season with Royce White more than the game itself.

With the usual segments, the guys also rank the current basketball jerseys, argue who the best shooter in school history is and how far this team could’ve gone if they didn’t run into Anthony Davis.

It’s a fun look back to the very early Hoiberg era, give it a listen and eat some Es Tas tacos!

DPNL: We're Just Playing Games Apr 17, 2020

This week, Levi and Cole talk about some of their favorite video games you should be playing through during quarantine, especially RPGs that will eat up all of those extra hours in no time. We also discuss why sports game developers should consider splitting Ultimate Team/MyTeam off as a separate game from its parent title to please both the UT/and non-UT crowds.

Litecast: NFL Draft Interview with Steven Wirtel Apr 15, 2020
    Show notes

    Send us a text

Steven Wirtel, former Iowa State longs-snapper and avid TOE hater, joined the Litecast for a fun and random conversation.
The Chicago-land native was more than happy to discuss White Sox baseball, the dumpster fire that is the Chicago Bears, the joyful news of Gar Forman being fired, and even Chicago area musicians. He also spoke with the crew about how he learned to long-snap, what being a specialist is like, and the back story of his recruitment to Ames.
The crew bombarded Steven with a host of questions about his time at Iowa State, which led to fun conversations about Matt Campbell's personality, Brock Purdy's mullet, what playing in Jack Trice Stadium is like, and a discussion about what his favorite moment in a Cyclone uniform was.

Wide Right ReCYcle Ep. 4: 2015 Oklahoma 21-Point Comeback Rewatch Apr 13, 2020
    Show notes

    Send us a text

On this Easter-themed episode, Jake Brend, Sean Dee, and Ryan Stivers take a look back at a time where Iowa State was dead but rose.
They step back in time to watch the 21-point comeback against Oklahoma on senior night in Hilton Coliseum fueled by a 22-0 run.
As always, some awards are handed out in our segments (spoiler: Dustin Hogue won one,) they also take a dive into Brent Musberger and Fran Fraschilla's incredible announcing in this game.
This episode on the Wide Right & Natty Lite Podcast Network is brought to you by Es Tas Bar & Grill.

DPNL: The TV Episode feat. Bridget Carleton Apr 10, 2020
    Show notes

    Send us a text

This week, we brought on another currently bored former Cyclone in Bridget Carleton to help us take a look at our favorite TV shows that you should be checking out during quarantine. Instead of giving you the obvious ones like The Office, Friends, etc., we gave you some shows to watch that you may not have seen, like Locke & Key, Umbrella Academy, and Don't F*** With Cats. Yes, we also briefly discuss Tiger King.

Litecast: We Really Miss Sports Apr 08, 2020
    Show notes

    Send us a text

Another week without sports, another podcast without (much) sports talk.

That said, the Wide Right Movie Minute takes center stage in this episode. The crew provides an in-depth review of Uncut Gems, talks about gambling movies in general, and gives you some movie-watching advice to help burn time during this quarantine.

Additionally, the gang had a fun discussion on Obi Toppin winning player of the year, and debated whether or not 1-ply toilet paper would fit under Luka Garza’s sneakers when he jumps.

ISU basketball transfer news was discussed as well, including some of Steve Prohm’s top targets, what the roster may look like going forward, and who is no longer interested in the Cyclones.

Finally, the gang gave their outlook on sports leagues looking to resume play in some fashion, and discussed what this fall might look like sports wise.

Jake Brend is joined by Sean Dee and Ryan Stivers as they relive the worst nut punch in Iowa State history. They talk through the game, the circumstances that led to it, and the tragic career of Larry Eustachy.
