This week, Levi, Cole, Marchie, and special guest Matthias Schwartzkopf discussed a few important topics around the state of Iowa. First, they discussed Jamie Pollard's recent comments about Iowa State football games and the pandemic in response to the Story County Health Board. Did he go over the line, or did he show another example of impressive leadership?
Next, Marchie gave his thoughts on the situation in Iowa City, as yet another former star player issued a statement with some powerful accusations against the Iowa football staff. His comments on the situation are worth listening to.

Wide Right ReCYcle Podcast Ep. 12: 2012 TCU Upset Rewatch Jun 29, 2020

The boys take a trip back to the Paul Rhoads era to watch one of the biggest wins of his tenure. Even though it was a big win, it was a pretty negative show while looking back into the let down of the 2012 season and the Rhoads era.
Through the usual segments, there was a lot of great discussion about this team and the overall dysfunction of the Iowa State football program back then. The program has come a long way since 2012, they compared and contrasted the regimes of Rhoads and Matt Campbell.
As always, we want to thank our incredible sponsor, Es Tas Bar & Grill.

Wide Right ReCYcle Ep. 11: Farmaggedon Rewatch Pt. 2 (2018) Jun 23, 2020
    Show notes

    Send us a text

After a two week intermission, the guys hopped back on to finish the second part of their Farmaggedon rewatch, this time they watched the 2018 comeback against Kansas State.

Jake and Sean both had unique game-day experiences with this game, one in the press box and the other on the interstate.

While reliving Bill Snyder’s last game, the guys talked about how important it was to knock off Snyder in his final game while also breaking down the logistics of how it happened.

During the normal segments, there was agreement on the beauty of Iowa State’s black uniforms and a healthy debate about the player of the game.

As always, we want to thank our amazing sponsor, Es Tas Bar & Grill for making this show happen.

The Litecast: Weekend Edition Jun 13, 2020

We decided to record a little bit of a different version of the Litecast for your weekend listening pleasure. CYHusker, Ryan, and Austin were joined by Matt, an avid sports fan from the land of the Cornhuskers, to help engage in some awesome conversations about Fred Hoiberg, the Husker fan mentality, and to share some insight on Nebraska’s place in the Big 10 vs its role in the Big 12.

Additionally, the return of the NBA season was discussed, including title odds for each team and a discussion on which sleeper teams may have a shot of knocking off the favorites in both the East and West.

The crew also briefly discussed the goings-on in Iowa City and across college football, and wondered aloud at where the conversation goes from its current state.

The Litecast is back and here to deliver an entertaining episode. Former Iowa State and NFL offensive lineman Oni Omoile joined us to talk about the culture of high school football in Texas, his journey to Iowa State, and his NFL career. We also got to hear about his transition from football player to gamer. There's a fun story told about his connection to Kelechi Osemele, best fields to play on, and the art of pancaking someone. Last but not least, we followed up our discussion on men's basketball heels by sharing some of our mortal enemies on the football field. Thanks again as always to Es Tas Bar & Grill for sponsoring. Wide Right ReCYcle Ep. 10: 2017 Kansas State Rewatch (HOW DID THEY PICK UP THE FLAG?!) Jun 01, 2020
    Show notes

    Send us a text

The crew digs into their first football game of the rewatch series. Sean Dee and Ryan Stivers join Jake Brend with their own personal experiences and ties to this game.
This game brings back the awful memories of one of the worst officiated games in recent memory. The missed targeting and pass interferences that lost Iowa State the game along with questionable coaching decisions by Matt Campbell and Jon Heacock in the last two minutes led to the loss.
Of course, this sparks a discussion about the worst calls in Iowa State history, we promise to not be as depressing next week with our segments.
A huge thanks to our sponsor, Es Tas Bar & Grill!

DPNL: What if...Iowa State hires Jim Harbaugh or Brian Kelly instead of Gene Chizik? May 30, 2020
    Show notes

    Send us a text

This week, Levi and Marchie talks about what might have happened if Jamie Pollard had hired either Jim Harbaugh or Brian Kelly following Dan McCarney's departure instead of Gene Chizik. How does that change Iowa State's timeline, and what ripple effects might we have seen across college football?

Litecast: Pro Sports Resuming and All-Time ISU Basketball Heels May 28, 2020

Professional sports are (almost) back! And boy, are we ready for them.
In this episode of the Litecast, CYHusker, Austin, and Ryan entered into a robust discussion about the NBA's plans for returning, and discussed the NHL's recently announced blueprint for a return to playoff hockey. The Match part 2 was also discussed, and the gang had fun picking who they would like to see in a Match part 3.
There was also (thankfully) a bevy of Cyclone-related topics to discuss, which included the genius of Jamie Pollard, the decision to move forward with a limited capacity, and the commitment of Jalen Coleman-Lands.
An all-time ISU Basketball Heels draft closed out the podcast, complete with many names you will undoubtedly be familiar with.
