Topic: Salvation

Notes:

- The resurrection of Lazarus as a picture of the salvation experience- Salvation immediately gives a new heart, mind, direction...- Salvation is a process completed as we interact with each other- Jesus comes to where we are, calls us to where He is, then turns us over to people- There is life behind the grave clothes... must be removed.- Layers are removed as we submit to the external work of God after He’s performed an internal miracle- We are tearing off people’s grave clothes as people tear off ours- We get to a place of confidence and faith by studying Jesus- We can’t be any holier in God’s eyes than at the moment we’re saved- The process is to get the outside to act like the inside- Story: a friend switched the lids on two puzzles... man looking at the wrong picture. Look at Jesus to what He’s done inside of you- Lazarus sat at the table where He could fellowship with Jesus- 7 things already happened to you in Christ: (Ephesians 1)

Notes:

- A strong Christian does not insist on his rights or flaunt freedom- Feel responsible for young or weak in the faith- People bicker over personal convictions- Things aren’t evil; people are evil and abuse things- Drugs, tobacco, alcohol, animals, dancing... NOT EVIL- To make disciples, it must be about Jesus- What does a denomination believe? Who Cares!? What does the Bible teach? Be a follower of Jesus- God understands our ignorance, immaturity, zeal- Music is cultural, generational- There is no wrong way to save a soul- Rapture & second coming... pre, mid, post... non-essentials.- There is one essential: to know Him. Jesus is the standard- Never let your convictions hamper evangelism... push someone away- Go to restaurants and build relationships... guns a tool of evangelism

Notes:

- Only God understands you; knows your heart yet loves you- God accepts us through Jesus but we are still full of sin- The Spirit of God abides in you when you love all people- Everything is always in flux except the Word of God- Have confidence in God; He is greater than our hearts- The heart is easily troubled- Living for Jesus is difficult; the devil hates your persistence- Treat people as you want to be; good returns to those who do good- We’ve made vows under duress- Your labor in the Lord is not in vain (teachers, police, firemen...)- Do for each other as He has done for you- Serve others-whatever they need

- How should we then live? Soberly, righteously, Godly
