    111016-1800-Loran Livingston - True Fasting Oct 17, 2011
    Show notes

2011-10-16-1800 Pastor Loran Livingston is the speaker this evening October 16th, 2011 in the 6:00 service.

    Scripture: Acts 13:2-3; Isaiah 58:1-14

    Topic: Fasting

    Notes:

    - Books on fasting... if you fast then don’t make a big deal about it- Christianity turned into an industry; sacred turned into merchandise- How arrogant of a human being to try to change God’s mind- Fasting has become a tool to strong-arm God to move in our direction- Biblical fasting is to find out what it is God wants you to do- Preachers today are demanding-certain car, hotel, kinds of water... picked up and escorted, not to be bothered by anybody- God wants you to live a balanced, moral, Christian, dedicated, spirit filled life... at times God may move on you to fast to humble your soul, not to get power- God won’t honor what you do if you don’t have a relationship with your family- Obey God, love one another, help those who cannot help themselves- When you do what he tells you to do then you shall call and the Lord will answer- Live right, tell the truth, love the Lord, love your wife & family, pray, do the right thing and you will be healthy

    Show notes

2011-10-16-1030 Pastor Loran Livingston is the speaker this morning October 16th 2011 in the 10:30 service.

    Scripture: John 8:1-11

    Topic: Forgiveness

    Notes:

    - Woman caught in adultery; the sin of the religious leaders-used her to trap Jesus- Every person is a creation of God; Jesus died for all; double standard in society- Jesus spent the night praying; prayer enables us to handle any situation- Sadducees questioned Jesus about marriage in heaven and paying taxes- 3 things on the line: life of the woman, teachings of Jesus on compassion and the law of Moses- Don’t try to box Him in; Jesus forgave her though she had not sought Him or repented; He is a better God than you think He is- There will be people in heaven you didn’t expect- We want immediate proof of salvation; we expect more than God expects- She asked for nothing but He gave everything- It takes time for a seed to produce... a process from seed to fruit; nothing or no one bears fruit all the time; it is seasonal- Last Supper: disciples disappointed because things had not worked out like they thought they would - Forgiveness came first, now we don’t have to sin- He’s not finished with your situation yet

    Show notes

2011-10-09-1030 Pastor Loran Livingston is the speaker this morning October 9th 2011 in the 10:30 service.

    Scripture: Hebrews 4:9-11; Colossians 2:10; Romans 6:4; 10:4; John 5:24; I John 3:14; II Corinthians 5:17

    Topic: Salvation

    Notes:

    - You are complete in Him the moment you are saved- You show you are saved because you can rest in His finished work- The Father sees Jesus in me; I’m not acting like Jesus... Jesus is acting through me- It is not our business to evaluate others or even ourselves... it doesn’t matter how I feel or what I’m going through- In Christ... I am a new creation, complete... passed from death to life- Denominations will lead you to works and insecurity- If you believe on the name of the Son of God you will be born again- When we realize that all we are is in Christ, we can enter that rest- Everything God said I had to do, Jesus did for me- No sin will make it into heaven, so what makes me qualified? He took my sin.- Every requirement, every need is met in Jesus- Go after righteousness and righteousness will guide your life and peace and joy...- Tithing is not biblical... giving is. Tithing is O.T. law... God loves a cheerful giver.- Give and it shall be given... could be money, health, peace....- If you do those things that please Jesus, your life will turn around

    Scripture: Lamentations 3:55-57; Psalm 40:1-5

    Topic: Home

    Notes:

    - You don’t measure a hospital by its health but by its help; the church is a hospital- People are in the pit needing answers- God hears when you call; don’t be afraid- Pit: miry clay-quicksand you cannot get out of yourself. Also where human refuse is thrown... prophets were thrown into.- When God hears you cry out to Him from the pit, He lifts you up and gives you a new song. The pit is a prerequisite for a new song.- God is not looking at your shortcomings or failures- God has a good plan in spite of what you’ve done; there is nothing God cannot do

    - Story of old missionary couple returning home... “We’re not home yet.”- There is a book, you have an assignment and an appointment- God has appointed a time for you to leave this world; your days are numbered- Your life written in God’s book; God has several books... deeds, redeemed, book of life- God has no needs and can meet your every need; God gives life, breath...- There is nothing God is not in control of; all He does is for His own glory- We feel trapped in our lifestyle, even guilty for but this is our assignment- You will never feel complete & fulfilled until you are with Jesus- Creation is under a curse... groaning & sighing...- He gave you the power to meet somebody’s need and to love the world He died for- We have become the temple of the living God- Abraham was looking for the city of God; John saw the new Jerusalem- Stop being enchanted by things right now... not looking forward to leaving, trapped in the staying

    Scripture: I Corinthians 15:57

    Topic: Prayer

    Notes:

    - We already have victory in Christ- When you pray it’s not as fishing, hoping God will hear... use another scripture or come back later and try again...- A victorious person is already assured that God hears and answers prayer- We’re not trying to pray through; we’re already in the throne room- God already knows what you’ll pray and has the answer on the way- Who He sees in secret He will reward in public- God loves to hear you pray- When He does answer it will be for His own pleasure- God will not fail or disappoint you- Prayer is not a waste of time; prayer is an act of faith- When we pray according to His will, He will; pray from a standpoint of victory

    Scripture: Acts 20:24; Galatians 1:6-8; 5:7; Ecclesiastes 12:13-14; Micah 6:8

    Topic: Focus

    Notes:

    - If your cause is not Jesus alone then you have lost your focus- Something will arise to snatch our attention away from Jesus- Your faith is not supposed to be complicated-you’ve lost focus- Happiness is in the grace of God alone; you’re missing the joy of the journey- People get bent out of shape over current events, gays, liberals...- People don’t want what you have; Jesus gives peace and joy- Don’t be satisfied with a little- When first saved there was only one book that mattered; I wanted Jesus, was praying and reading, not looking for another rally or seminar- Christian authors don’t agree with one another- We substitute study for prayer- Authors write but have no experience with people- Most scholars are deficient in prayer; knowledge puffs up, love builds up- It doesn’t really matter when Jesus is coming back: live right and love God- Know Him not so I can prove a point but to live in the power of the resurrection
