Webcast: Rare, Complex, and Under-Recognized: Supporting Oncology Nurses in the Care of Patients with NF1 Aug 06, 2026
    Show notes

Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) is a rare, complex, and often under-recognized condition that presents significant diagnostic and management challenges, particularly for oncology nurses who play a central role in longitudinal patient care. Despite recent advances, including updated diagnostic criteria and expanded use of mitogen-activated protein kinase kinases (MEK) inhibitors for both pediatric and adult patients, oncology nurses often demonstrate gaps in knowledge, confidence, and competence in recognizing NF1-associated plexiform neurofibromas (PNs), monitoring for malignant transformation, and supporting treatment decision-making. The heterogeneity of NF1 manifestations, the risk of serious complications such as malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors (MPNST), and the need for coordinated, multidisciplinary care further underscore the importance of specialized, evidence-based education.

In this enduring Creative Educational Concepts (CEC) Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) chapter installment, expert faculty will assist learners to combine NF1 diagnostic and treatment guidelines for early recognition of NF-PNs, incorporate MEK inhibitors using evidence-based safety and management strategies in adult and pediatric patients, and develop interprofessional, patient-centered care plans that support individualized, longitudinal management.

A CaseWise™ Webcast: From Research to Real-World: ADCs, IO Combinations, and Sequencing in Metastatic NSCLC Jul 01, 2026
    Show notes

Antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) are redefining precision oncology by delivering potent therapies directly to tumor cells through highly specific molecular targeting. This innovative approach is rapidly becoming a cornerstone of cancer care, particularly in metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (mNSCLC). Despite their growing impact, the mechanisms behind ADCs remain unclear for many clinicians and multidisciplinary care teams. At the same time, the expanding use of immuno-oncology (IO) therapies in mNSCLC has introduced overlapping toxicity profiles that can obscure the identification and management of ADC-related adverse events. To confidently navigate this evolving landscape, clinicians need best-in-class education that demystifies ADC mechanisms, translates clinical trial and biomarker data into actionable patient selection strategies, and differentiates safety profiles to optimize care for patients with mNSCLC.

In this Creative Educational Concepts recorded webcast, expert faculty will delineate class-wide and agent-specific characteristics of ADCs, including mechanism of action, relevant biomarkers, efficacy, toxicity profiles, and considerations for sequencing and integration of IO therapies in biomarker-selected mNSCLC. Faculty will model evidence-based interpretation of emerging clinical trial data for TROP2-directed and other ADCs to clarify their potential role across diverse mNSCLC patient populations. By strengthening clinicians’ confidence in evidence interpretation and toxicity management, this program supports more informed and individualized treatment selection for patients with mNSCLC.

Targeting the Pathway: Evolving Roles of MEK Inhibitors in NF1-Associated PN Jul 01, 2026
    Show notes

Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) is a common autosomal dominant genetic disorder characterized by tumor predisposition and a wide spectrum of neurologic manifestations. Among its most serious complications are plexiform neurofibromas (PNs), which can cause significant morbidity due to pain, disfigurement, neurologic impairment, and risk of malignant transformation. Despite advances in understanding NF1 biology, care remains complex and often fragmented across specialties, leading to delayed recognition and limited access to evolving therapies. Recent clinical evidence has established MEK inhibitors as targeted therapeutic options for NF1-associated PNs. Incorporating these therapies into practice requires careful patient selection, safety monitoring, and interprofessional coordination to ensure optimal outcomes.

This CEC Oncology recorded symposium will address these critical gaps by equipping neuro-oncologists, neurosurgeons, radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, advanced practitioners, and nurses with strategies for early recognition of NF1-associated tumors, effective integration of MEK inhibitors, and development of evidence-based, interprofessional care plans that support individualized, longitudinal management.

Emergency Care of Patients with Cancer Receiving CAR T-cell and Bispecific Antibody Immunotherapies Experiencing Serious Adverse Events Aug 28, 2025
    Show notes

As the use of immunotherapies for the treatment of cancer expands, emergency medicine (EM) clinicians will need a further understanding of their mechanisms of action (MOAs) to better guide diagnosis and treatment of patients who present to the emergency room with symptoms of adverse effects (AEs). While T-cell-retargeting therapies have revolutionized the treatment of hematological malignancies, they are also associated with symptoms of cytokine release syndrome (CRS), immune effector cell-associated neurotoxicity syndrome (ICANS), cytopenias, infection, and cardiotoxicity. While most cases of CRS and neurotoxicity are self-limiting and only require supportive care, some patients can progress to needing ICU care. To address these risks, EM clinicians require education on the relationship of MOAs of T-cell-directing therapies to potential AEs and improve their confidence and competence in diagnosing and treating CRS, neurotoxicity, and other toxicities associated with these agents in emergency settings. In this CE Concepts webcast, expert faculty will guide learners on how to best evaluate the effect of CAR T-cell and bispecific antibody therapies on the immune system in patients with cancer, utilize best practices for the diagnosis and management of patients receiving T-cell-directing therapies experiencing symptoms consistent with CRS, and Integrate best practices for diagnostic and management approaches for patients receiving T-cell-directing therapies experiencing AEs not consistent with CRS.
