Controversial Cannabis Comments From a GOP Congresswoman | Legalization News Jan 08, 2023
    Show notes

During a heated exchange between congress members during the vote to elect Kevin McCarthy speaker of the House for the 118th Congress, #Mace asked cannabis supporter Congressman Joe Neguse from Colorado "What is he on?" Mace's comment angered many cannabis advocates who felt that her words showed a lack of respect for cannabis and cannabis legalization efforts. However, Mace later clarified her statement saying that she was simply trying to make a point about the importance of respecting each other's opinion during debates. It's clear that cannabis has become a divisive issue among lawmakers, but it also highlights the need for more education and dialogue around cannabis legislation in order to help bridge this divide.

With more states legalizing cannabis every year, it is essential for lawmakers to have open conversations about its implications and benefits so they can come to an informed decision when it comes to cannabis policy. Ultimately, Mace's comments show that cannabis legalization is still a controversial topic among lawmakers, and that there is much work to be done when it comes to cannabis education.

It is crucial for cannabis advocates and opponents alike to come together and have an honest discussion about cannabis legislation in order to ensure the best outcome for everyone involved. By taking the time to engage in thoughtful dialogue about cannabis legalization, we can make sure that our elected representatives are making the most informed decisions possible. That way, we can move towards cannabis policies that benefit everyone — not just one side of the debate. Hopefully, Mace's comments will serve as an important reminder of this fact.

In a major victory for cannabis legalization advocates, #dispensaries in #New #York are set to open before 2023. This video takes a closer look at the news and what it could mean for the future of cannabis in the state.Kenneth Woodin, a stay-at-home dad from Houston who had been previously arrested on a weed charge, was first in line at the cannabis dispensary in Manhattan's Greenwich Village to make history. After eagerly queuing for more than four hours, he entered the dispensary, proceeded to purchase two bags of smokable flower called Gorilla Glue each containing eighth of an ounce for approximately $90. Prior to this historic purchase embarked upon by Mr. Woodin and the many other courageous individuals taking part, cannabis sales were one that took place in secrecy and angst due to laws in place which criminalized them. Despite coming to terms with his past making oversight decisions and recognizing majority public opinion had shifted so drastically as it regards Cannabis use, Mr. Woodin confessed "This is part of history" speaking regarding his monumental purchases made on December 3rd 2020 which marked New York's legalization of recreational cannabis. In doing so, the 33 year old brought closure for himself and helped progress trajectory of further disruptive social change surrounding Marijuana Marijuana usage/legality worldwide by exclaiming "I don't want to feel like I'm a criminal anymore."Read all about it: https://www.nytimes.com/2022/12/29/nyregion/ny-weed-sales.htmlConnect with us: 🌱 We can help with your cannabis business. Banking in the cannabis industry continues to be a battle with the conflicting federal and state regulations. Operators find themselves in a vulnerable position that virtually no other legitimate business has to face. Cannabis in #politics continues to be a hot button issue despite overwhelming support for legalization from Americans. Despite the opposition from archaic senators, cannabis #legalization supporters have seen several wins this week. A newly released report finds that over 2 million cannabis convictions have been either expunged or pardoned in the past five years. The U.S.D.A. awarded a sustainable hemp fiber research grant to Tennessee State University as they seek ways to create climate friendly commodities. Proponents of the #SAFEBankingAct were disappointed this week after House Republicans shut down attempts to include measures in a federal defense spending bill. Mitch McConnell signaled his intention to stand in the way of progress for the industry in future bills by allowing banks to continue to prohibit businesses that are involved with cannabis in any perceived form. #Banking in the #CannabisIndustry continues to be a challenge as the drug schedule of the plant poses major conflict for banks that want to be compliant with federal law. With the lack of available financial services to legitimate and legal businesses at the state level, the industry is forced to seek creative ways to protect themselves in a primarily cash-centric business. Cashless ATMs have recently been the subject of a crackdown after some of the largest processors of these transactions put the kibosh on their services in a sweeping fashion. Also, Brittney Griner was released from a Russian prison for cannabis charges that capture the attention of the nation. Now that the U.S. secured her release through a prisoner exchange, how does this move reflect on the current cannabis policy under federal law?
