The bigger the baby the bigger the diamonds May 11, 2021
    Show notes

It's a sweet-then-sour-then-sweet-again episode on Cadillac Jack: My Second Act.

Donna starts us off with an update on the Acai berries and the air subscription service. You'll hear how we're coming for froyo and QuikTrip. She moves on to the watches owned by Cadillac Jack. He has them but doesn't really *have* them. It makes sense when you realize that it's really just a segue into wedding rings. As you may know, Caddy doesn't wear one. You'll hear why, what Donna thinks and what doors it has opened. "The longer you're married…"

Covering our designation as a semi-music podcast is a stretch today. You know those people who show up at concerts and get…. well, wild? Someone took that to the extreme at the Uncorked Van Morrison show this weekend. And by wild, we mean that someone released all of the farm animals during the chorus of "Domino."

The show fulfills its "serious" quota by addressing the fact that its Mental Health Awareness Month. Caddy is concerned about emotionally peaking, because "It's been a really fun year." (<- That's not a joke.) Then we circle back around and cover the rise of push presents. EP Carl Appen shares the story of how (we think) Ray Appen came up with the idea. Just remember- the bigger the baby the bigger the diamons.

Let's see how long we can go without an 'E' tag. May 06, 2021

The show opens with a detective novel about Bill Gates, Detective Cline and Shania Twain. That's right- we're talking about 'gray divorce,' or splitting up after 50. Donna thinks that men get needier as they get older. Cadillac Jack agrees.

The second segment talks about a mother found in the middle of a desert eating grass and moss. The problem for her is that she didn't want to be found. "Are you kidding me? There are hot campers around." There's also a bit about music licensing, as Red Hot Chili Peppers become the latest group to sell their rights.

The third segment covers a recent hot mic episode on Fox and Friends. Kevin McCarthy was caught with his (audio) pants down. Allegedly. Caddy and Donna talk about some of the implications, along with whether or not it was really an accident. Similarly, a woman just caught her husband cheating because he didn't realize the bluetooth was on. What are the three things you couldn't do without? You'll hear a few answers. Bluetooth is not one of them. It's all covered on this episode of Hot Mic with Donna and Caddy.

So, did you get the medical Riff Raff treat? If not, take another listen to last Thursday's episode. We're all recovered and ready for the show to return to normal on this Second Act. Cadillac Jack asked folks what they were talking about over the weekend. You'll be almost as surprised as he was when you hear some of the answers in the first segment.

The second segment, and first story, of the episode is about the Great Nursing Home Escape. A husband and wife recently made a break for it after the gentlemen was able to use his military code-breaking experience. Donna thinks that it earned them some fresh air. Caddy is just wondering about the liability of it all. As usual.

As a semi-music podcast, we are obligated to spend a few minutes talking about the recording industry. Today that means the Billboard Music Awards. It's actually an interesting discussion about what makes the BMAs so different from other award shows. It makes the BMAs a little… unsurprising…. But the reason why is interesting. PS - No, Morgan Wallen is not invited. Then there is a bit about Kacey Musgraves and the dream she fulfilled. Lastly, some news on Dierks Bentley and Luke Bryant's chaffing. It's an episode that'll rub you the right way.

The show ends with a few moments thanking teachers for National Teacher Appreciation Week. Well, Donna thanks them. Cadillac Jack does too, sorta.

We're just going to let it ride here today on the Cadillac Jack: My Second Act podcast. Tune in and listen up. You may even get rewarded with a Riff Raff treat…

"If we got divorced, who would keep My Second Act?" Apr 27, 2021
    Show notes

It's very important to not try everything you see online. Cadillac Jack learned that firsthand this weekend. He tried to clean some plaque out of his mouth and avoid going to the dentist. Now he has just less teeth.

Do we really need the Oscars? Did anyone see a single new movie this year? The people who were nominated say, "yes." Donna and Caddy get into it, discussing all things worth knowing about this year's awards. Donna recommends only one winner- a story about a man and his octopus. "Who knew they could have a relationship like that?"

The show switches gears and looks at the relationship between Jana Kramer and Mike Caussin. The two have a podcast called Whine Down, where they cover marriage and authentic struggles. They're also getting a divorced. According to US Weekly, the "logistics" of owning the show will get worked out in the process. Would the Jacks show similar concessions? Not when it comes to Roscoe.

On the way out the show covers Kourtney Kardashian, Scott Disick and Travis Barker. You know, real life. If you have any clues about them or where Morgan Wallen is, give us a call. 7704646024.

Prom night at the Hickory Motor Lodge Apr 22, 2021
    Show notes

It's prom night here on the Cadillac Jack: My Second Act podcast. For Caddy and Donna that means different things. For Donna, it's a trip to Six Flags. To Caddy, it's a trip… somewhere else.

Caddy and Donna's daughter Charlotte is a guest on today's episode, so that intro was kept pretty short. News about the Derek Chauvin trial broke as the show was starting, so we spend a few minutes on some gut reactions. As a professional jury consultant, Cadillac Jack came prepared. Afterwards there is an update from Donna and her Madonna. Then, it turns out the ACMs had mixed reactions. The Academy of Country Music Awards were a bit of a toss up this year.

The most important segment of the show is when Charlotte tunes in. The Jacks start with their hype songs, move towards hookey and then shift into driving lessons. Once they're through the gate, the three talk about the third-child-dilemma. Caddy brings up some history that Charlotte didn't know about…. Again. This time it's live on air. Were you surprised? Let us know at 7704646024.

You don't have to be a fan of country music to listen to the Cadillac Jack: My Second Act podcast. You can tune in to almost any episode and enjoy 45 minutes of twang-free banter. Today is not one of those shows.

Donna and Caddy take a deep dive into the Academy of Country Music Awards, covering this weekend's ceremony and every twangy, juicy, spur-studded moment from it.

Having a podcast has been pretty liberating for Donna and Cadillac Jack. They've been able to talk about taboo material, share authentic opinions and bust the industry wide open. (Well, maybe not the last one. We do need some dinner guests.) Events like the ACMs allow these new freedoms to shine. Here's a look at what's covered in today's episode of Cadillac Jack: My Second Bridge Burning:

    • Morgane Stapleton's detour to deliver someone's baby.
    • The (unintentionally) loudest performer of the weekend
    • Luke Combs and Kenny Chesney's sunday school clothes
    • Eric Church the Silver Fox
    • Madison Reed (the hair dye, not the porn site)
    • Brooks & Dunn. "Hot hot hot hot hot."
    • Dan + Shay. *yawn*
    • Amy Grant's pajamas
    • Little Big Town
    • The week Caddy was stuck on an island with Terry Chapman

The show wraps by marking the anniversary of Caddy running over Roscoe and a look at his early days in radio. At 17 he was working seven to midnight at Country 93.9 in Myrtle Beach. He was making $11,000 a year but lived in a trade apartment and had free tires. We've come a long way, folks. Have a great week and call us if you see Morgan Wallen. 7704646024.

"We've done stewardess and pilot before." Apr 15, 2021

How much is Donna's vision worth? That's the question that starts off this episode of Cadillac Jack: My Second Act. Then, what did you want to be when you were growing up? Do you remember? Donna can pretty much tell you her exact plan. Caddy wanted to be one of two things and… they're very different. The reason we ask is because nowadays you don't hear kids saying what they want to be. At least they don't say the same things that we used to. The main point is that kids don't want to limit themselves to single, traditional careers. They want to do more.

Khloe Kardashian and "her unedited body" bring us into segment number two. It's a conversation about filters, pictures and the stressors of today's digital world. Things are not the same as when your parents took family pictures that were one and done.

Then Cadillac Jack opens up. He's feeling left out. The reason? Not one person has called him to offer commentary on the Derek Chauvin trial. With the amount of time Caddy has spent (voluntarily) in courthouses, he's practically a criminal justice expert. Caddy gives a pretty in-depth look at police unions, public defenders and the intricacies of using an expert witness.

Lastly Donna and Cadillac Jack get to the nuts and bolts- the key to a happy, thriving romance. They come at it with an understanding perspective. Do you have any idea how many costumes Caddy owns?

There are no naps allowed on today's episode of Cadillac Jack: My Second Act. Except for Bun, who is our podcasting Emotional Support Frenchie. She can nap all she wants. Donna and Caddy dive right in with a look at Taylor Swift and her MENSA-level "Swiftie" fans. Taylor has the first re-recorded album out now after the decade-long rift with Scooter Braun. The Jacks explain the situation and why it means so much for the music industry that Taylor is starting on the project. to start the project. Tt's possible that even Scooter is proud of the move. We know Keith Urban is a fan.

Cadillac Jack has said multiple times that the next big artist to go on tour will have a vaccination clause. News out of the industry has proved him wrong. Eric Church is on a 53+ city tour that wraps at Madison Square Garden in New York. Caddy has some insight on why Atlanta wasn't on the list (yet) and Donna points to why they both might turn into roadies. It's safe to say that there is only so much money to go around. That's why we think there will be a race to see who is the first to dig for gold. Eric Church has solidified his position as one of the miners is on the hunt for nuggets.

Then there are a couple quick hits like the death of Prince Philip, Netflix and how to identify a Rembrandt. All that precedes a segment of Riff Raff Donna Buys (on Amazon). It's one that you won't want to miss, even if your credit card does. Have a tip? Let us know at 7704646024.

You need to know what you're getting in to. Apr 08, 2021

This episode of Cadillac Jack: My Second Act is one of those things that you sign up for but when it actually happens….

Just kidding. That's what the first segment of the show is about, though. Caddy and Donna once signed up to host a nonprofit gala. Then they found out what it means to host a nonprofit gala. (Spoiler alert: it means you're on the line for cash.) Then this past weekend Cadillac Jack was invited to plant a vineyard. He thought it meant a ceremonial shovel-holding, wine-drinking afternoon. 18 hours and 2 bottles of Advil later, Caddy knows that it meant literally planting a vineyard.

The Academy of Country Music Awards is coming up. Eric Church is one of the headliners and he's on a mission to get all of his fans vaccinated. Donna and Caddy fulfill the show's designation as a semi-music podcast by breaking down exactly what this means for Country Music. There's also a quick hit on what other performers you can expect to see at the ACMs.

Caddy and Donna move on to talk me-batticals. Donna explains what they are and how she heard about them. It's basically a break from life filled with books. At the beach. No family, no friends. Just eating, sleeping and getting massages. So, Donna's dream of decompression. And Caddy's nightmare. His response? "I'm so tired." The show wraps up before Donna is able to rotate his blood. Maybe next week.

PS It's been 62 days since anyone has seen Morgan Wallen. Know where he is? Let us know at 7704646024.
