Cadillac Jack – My Second Act

The Cadillac Jack: My Second Act podcast is a twice-weekly show hosted by Donna Choate and Cadillac Jack. Caddy was a morning show host on Atlanta radio for nearly three decades. His wife Donna has been on the advertising side of business for just as long.

In his second act, Caddy is joined by Donna on the air to bring listeners informative and entertaining conversations about current events, parenting and country music. You’ll hear a unique discussion on trending news topics, see behind the scenes of the music industry and relate to their personal stories from the home front.

It's a wiley coyote day here on the Cadillac Jack: My Second Act podcast.

First off, Ned Beatty has passed away. Where the Red Fern Grows, All the President's Men, Deliverance. They're all ways we'll remember the great Ned, and we take a moment to recognize them. Then Donna kicks uss off by playing Caddy his birthday Cameo. It was a bargain buy and… it shows. You'll hear the full seven seconds and exactly why Donna wants a refund. Blake Shelton built a chapel for Gwen Stefani. We repeat, Blake Shelton built a chapel. Meanwhile, Donna and Cadillac Jack are having problems with their fire alarm. One of these things is not like the other. Donna brings us back to earth with the thoughtful songwriting of Brothers Osborne. It's a few surreal moments in an episode of haywire. It doesn't take long before Caddy starts talking about his master propane and baiters. Needless to say, this show takes the 'E' flag pretty quickly. Before the end of the show the Jacks explain a bit about naming rights and the new tours from Alan Jackson and Eric Clapton. Donna takes us out on one noteworthy bit- Kim Jong Un is a mean guy.

The reason I was squirrely Jun 10, 2021
    Show notes

Cadillac Jack has been listening back and needs to clear the air. He's not ungrateful. He just doesn't like to be the center of attention.

The first segment of the show looks at the influence TikTok has on the music industry. We just have one thing to say- Barry Manilow needs to buy William White a beer. Maybe a couple of them. Before leaving Then we move on to an album filled with double entendres.

Then the show moves on to our favorite character- Morgan Wallen. If you've been around the Southeast in recent weeks you may have seen some billboards around that are not so friendly to the Tennessee native. Is it over the top? From there we naturally move on to the nature of Big Radio and how it handles its programming. Who knows best? Three grown men in a glass office somewhere, apparently. The transition is a bit on the nose but we take it to the lungs from there. You'll hear why Caddy is getting vaccinated in Washington and whether or not they're pre-rolled. Here's to Happy Endings.

I don't know if I've ever talked about this before, but I was on a tennis team. Jun 08, 2021

It's Cadillac Jack's birthday and he's got a cold. No, not that kind of cold.

Caddy turns 42 today (can you believe it) and has only been through one can of white rain. He went all the way up to Tracy Cousineau's house to find… not Tracy Cousineau. Meanwhile Donna once showed up at the wrong house for an ALTA party, and the guy ate all of her cream cheese saki bombs. That's the first part of the show. Then Caddy and Donna get to the Tik Tok star who has tapped into the 40-plus crowd. Plus, why it's the most successful app for the music industry. There's also some talk of Amazon's new marijuana policies and the reopening of The Clermont Lounge. To cap the show, "soft 16" Carl comes on mic to talk a little more about just how evil we all are. What do you think? Let us know at 7704646024.

"I will see you tomorrow at nine to load the goats." Jun 03, 2021
    Show notes

Welcome back to the partially evil Cadillac Jack: My Second Act podcast. It's a show so short, sweet and strange that Caddy may have written it on an Ambien bender. (His words, not mine.)

First off we look at a recent article in The Atlantic about the despair of returning to regular life. As Donna says, it was a scary but nice reprieve. Then we talk about the 2021 Music Midtown lineup and animals that eat your shoestrings. Plus it's time to tally our scores from the last episode and see just how evil we are. Bad news. Lastly, Caddy finds out about the goats. Believe it or not, Cadillac Jack is about to be a yoga instructor. Turns out he may have to kiss one for the first time since his days at Tau Kappa Epsilon. The goats. Not the yoga instructor.

It's a short, sweet and evil episode of the Cadillac Jack: My Second Act podcast.

You'll start your week off hearing about Donna's stranger hand-holding and Caddy's McDonalds Apple Pie snafu. Then dear friend and performing artist Mark Wills is back on stage and out of the Bunker. Donna and Cadillac Jack were there this weekend to celebrate and return to the dance floor. Caddy himself returned to the Jäger. After filling us in on their weekend, the Jacks take a quiz. If you answered 5-9, you're a little bit evil. More than that and we're descending into hot water. Lastly executive producer Carl Appen steps back into the show to give an update on his Turo app. "Just give us a 1, 2, 3 of 4. It's like preschool."

Mercury is in retrograde and we're not signing anything May 27, 2021
    Show notes

Mercury is in retrograde and Cadillac Jack just has one question- what does that even mean? Donna explains the answer and let's just say… it might make a believer out of Caddy. Watch out Geminis. There are a few great peeks behind the Big Radio curtain on today's show. We've talked about things artists have to do when they're up and coming. Sometimes a label will trade horses with a station and their artists have to go to strange appearances. Well, one time Caddy and Donna booked Brad Paisley to play in the service bay of a car dealership. Another time they just had to watch out for a certain artist's bag, which contained dip, cigarettes and airplane shot bottle. You'll hear both stories, plus how Blake Shelton found himself playing a breakfast show at McDonald's.

After that, regular panelist Jeffrey Jackson calls in to talk about the legal nuances of vaccine requirements. Then to close the show, executive producer Carl Appen has his own studio visit to explain NFTs and Martin Shkreli's one-of-one Wutang Clan album. Questions? Don't ask us. But do call us if you've seen Morgan Wallen. 7704646024.

"Did you ever do anything in the radio days that would have gotten you cancelled today?" That's the theme of today's episode of Cadillac Jack: My Second Act. In fact, it's Caddy's opening question. Near the end of the episode you'll hear about a skit from a few years ago that… well, yes, it would have cancelled Cadillac Jack.

Then, why wouldn't you just go to Dick's and buy some dumbbells? Most people who have been through a divorce would understand where Mike Caussin was coming from. Including Caddy. Who held up a settlement of his own over a camcorder. "It was new!"

Of course it wouldn't be a week of MSA without a Morgan Wallen update. It's the middle of the show and involves some new tunes from the Wall. There are even some more peeks behind the Big Radio curtain. That's before we even get to Jon Bon Jovi, Friends or any of the Marias.

Reverse Gossip and the Little Green Men May 20, 2021
    Show notes

There are a whole bunch of little green men tuned in to today's episode of Cadillac Jack: My Second Act. Well, probably.

The episode starts off with a list of things we get excited about. But then Donna asks, "what are you excited for this week?" Well, hmmm. "It's just easier to come up with things I'm NOT excited about."

This episode is not 60 minutes long, but it does include audio from 60 Minutes. That's because footage was recently declassified that may lend some credit to the existence of extraterrestrials. Donna wants one as a pet. "Dress him. Carry him around." Anyways, something the size of a 737 descended into Pacific airspace and the US Military couldn't identify it. Which they admitted. On 60 minutes.

After talking about aliens, we move onto Chrissy Teigen. No they are not related. Except for that they both blew Donna away. After that, producer Carl comes on the air to talk about his own Appy. You'll hear about a new way to rent, drive and possibly be arrested in, cars. Don't speed away.

Seen an alien? Tell us about it. 7704646024.

If you want to get tipped, you better find that snake. May 18, 2021
    Show notes

The stars were misaligned for this episode of the Cadillac Jack: My Second Act podcast.

There is no growth in cancel culture. It's a recurring theme on the show (growth, not cancel culture) and the Morgan Wallen news this week fits right into it.

Then there's a new game. Since the last episode, we've heard from a lot of folks asking about Caddy's decision-making process. So Donna came up with a new activity for the show: Caddy Would You Rather. Tune in. It's exactly what it sounds like.

We found Morgan, so it's unclear how to end these notes. Just call us? 7704646024.

It's the 4th "Explicit" show in a row here on the Cadillac Jack: My Second Act podcast. That's why this episode starts with the question of "What would Cadillac Jack do for $100?" The answers will… probably not surprise you.

The middle segment covers the international Tennifer news. Or as Matt Damon calls it, "a really fascinating story." You'll hear about Jennifer Anniston, Alex Rodriguez and the pining heart of Cadillac Jack. Signed, your friend Ben Affleck.

On the following segment, Caddy and Donna get tipped to the 5-part Luke Bryan documentary scheduled for later in the year. It reminds them both of a great story from terrestrial radio where Caddy got his handyman on. Well, sorta. It's all greek to a me. On a related note, we talk about why there is really a gas shortage. "What did they think would happen when they hacked our pumps?" At least the hackers apologized. How kind of them. To round it out, we hit some Riff Raff that you don't need. Especially if you have a thirsty dog. Seriously. Do not listen if you have any furry animals.

(Please, look for Morgan Wallen. Give him a hug. Then tell us where he is. 7704646024.)
