    In this episode of By Any Means Necessary, hosts Sean Blackmon and Jacquie Luqman are joined by Greg Elich with the Solidarity Committee for Democracy and Peace in Korea to discuss half a million workers in South Korea participating in a general strike, the labor conditions, lack of protections, and lack of work in the country that precipitated the strike, and the dominance of neoliberal austerity in South Korea and the role the US has played and continues to play in the shaping of South Korean society.
    In the second segment, Sean and Jacquie are joined by Libre X Sankara, poet, cultural worker,educator and organizer with the Troika Kollective to discuss rolling blackouts and power outages and protests in Puerto Rico against Luma Energy, the private company tasked with distributing electricity, Luma’s attempts to maximize its profit from the electric grid and outsource labor to maintain it despite its failures, the colonial history and conditions that have proceeded and contribute to the current situation, and how the unelected fiscal control board instituted in 2016 plays into the privatization of infrastructure in Puerto Rico and continues the colonial relationship the island has with the US.
    In the third segment, Sean and Jacquie are joined by Nate Wallace, co-host of Red Spin Sports to discuss the 1994 documentary “Hoop Dreams,” which highlights the realities of youth basketball and its impacts on children attempting to play professionally, the auction-block dynamic on Black athletes that pervades professional sports and starts early in athletes’ careers, the commodification of education and its use a carrot to reward reliable athlete compliance, and Jon Gruden’s whitening of the Oakland Raiders and issues of race in the NFL.
    Later in the show, Sean and Jacquie are joined by Eugene Puryear, host of the Punch Out podcast on Breakthrough News and author of the book Shackled and Chained: Mass Incarceration in Capitalist America to discuss the distortion of the conflict in Ethiopia by the corporate media and the Tigray Patriotic Liberation Front’s brutal collaborationist history, how the conflict plays into the US imperialist project in Africa, the liberal, identitarian, and individualist character of “lived experience” and its use to advance imperialist projects, and how HBCUs simultaneously uses student organizing to promote itself while cracking down on student activists.

    In this episode of By Any Means Necessary, hosts Sean Blackmon and Jacquie Luqman are joined by Dr. Margaret Flowers, Co-Founder of Popular Resistance Director of the Health Over Profit for Everyone Campaign to discuss health insurance companies ending out of pocket cost waivers for people treated by COVID-19 in the middle of the pandemic, how this might exacerbate the pandemic as we head into the winter and other rollbacks on public health measures under the Biden administration, and the importance of an organized effort to fight for the interests of people who need medical access instead of believing the lip service of politicians.
    In the second segment, Sean and Jacquie are joined by John Kiriakou, Sputnik News correspondent to discuss Daniel Hale’s absurd incarceration in a maximum security facility despite a suggestion to send him to a low-security prison that would have provided mental health treatment to him, the deeply isolating nature of the facility where Hale will be incarcerated, and the weaponization and inhumanity of solitary confinement, and the bipartisan nature of cracking down on whistleblowers.
    In the third segment, Sean and Jacquie are joined by Brian Mier, co-editor of Brasil Wire and author of Year of Lead: Washington, Wall Street and the New Imperialism in Brazil to discuss a recent report detailing the severe malpractice and mismanagement of the COVID-19 pandemic by the government of Jair Bolsonaro in Brazil, what political implications this may have on Bolsonaro’s support going into the next presidential election, and the killing of Leuvis Manuel Olivero.
    Later in the show, Sean and Jacquie are joined by Richard Becker, author of “Palestine, Israel and the U.S. Empire” to discuss the anniversary of the assassination of Muammar Gaddafi and the toppling of his government in Libya, why Libya posed a threat to US imperialism and the demonization of Gaddafi in the run up to the war, the history of NATO and its role as the enforcer of imperialism, and hunger strikes in protest of mass incarceration in Palestine.


    Colin Powell, Barack Obama, and the Need for Black Liberation Politics Oct 20, 2021

    In this episode of By Any Means Necessary, hosts Sean Blackmon and Jacquie Luqman are joined by Alivia Duncan, a senior at Clark Atlanta University to discuss the struggle for safe housing and shared governance at Atlanta University Center HBCUs, including Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, Spelman College, and Morris Brown College, the paternalistic behavior of university administration toward students, the repression and division tactics employed by the AUC, and the need for investment in HBCUs in light of Joe Biden’s cuts to HBCU funding in the reconciliation bill.
    In the second segment, Sean and Jacquie are joined by Alivia Duncan, a senior at Clark Atlanta University to discuss the struggles women are facing in Afghanistan in the aftermath of the Taliban takeover as a result of sanctions, the reality of women’s rights under the US occupation, and the US military’s ongoing desire to dominate the Middle East and south Asia through crippling economic sanctions.
    In the third segment, Sean and Jacquie are joined by Karleigh Webb, an athlete, activist, journalist, socialist, contributor to @Outsports and host of the TransSporter Room to discuss the planned walkout of employees at Netflix in response to the Dave Chappelle stand-up special that featured transphobic comments, Chapelle’s attempt to turn the LGBTQ and Black communities against each other despite the intersections in identity that Black LGBTQ people experience, and the Texas state government’s barring of transgender students from participating on sports teams that align with their gender.
    Later in the show, Sean and Jacquie are joined by Danny Haiphong, Contributing Editor of Black Agenda Report, Co-Host of The Left Lens, and co-author of “American Exceptionalism and American Innocence: A People's History of Fake News―From the Revolutionary War to the War on Terror” and Margaret Kimberley, editor and senior columnist at Black Agenda Report and author of the book "Prejudential: Black America and the Presidents" to discuss the death of Colin Powell and his celebration despite his war crimes, the anniversary of the assassination of Muammar Gaddafi and Barack Obama’s role in unleashing instability and war onto Libya, the collapse of Black politics into Black faces in high places, the opportunity to rekindle a fighting spirit in a mass progressive movement for the reconciliation bill and real reforms to help working ans poor people, and the ruling class’ intensifying demonization of alternatives to capitalism.

    In the second segment, Sean and Jacquie are joined by Mahjoub Maliha, head of of external relations for CODESA, the Collective of Saharawi Human Rights Defenders in Western Sahara to discuss the history and current reality of the struggle for independence in Western Sahara, the repression of human rights defenders and organizers by the Kingdom of Morocco, and the interests Morocco has in maintaining its colonial domination over the Western Sahara.
    In the third segment, Sean and Jacquie are joined by technologist Chris Garaffa, the editor of TechforthePeople.org to discuss a bill that threatens to gut Section 230, which protects speech on the internet, the politics of algorithms, Bitcoin mining causing electricity rates to rise and other environmental impacts of cryptocurrency, and the absurd call for prosecution of journalists who found a security flaw in the website of the Missouri Department of Education.
    Later in the show, Sean and Jacquie are joined by Ted Rall, award-winning editorial cartoonist and columnist, and author of the graphic novel, "The Stringer," to discuss the life, death, lies, and crimes of Colin Powell and the media’s role in propagating his lies and promoting war, the use of propaganda to brainwash people in the US and whitewash its imperialist crimes, and the infantilization in American culture.
