    Corporate Media Continues To Censor US and NATO Role In Ukraine Crisis Feb 28, 2022

    In this episode of By Any Means Necessary, hosts Sean Blackmon and Jacquie Luqman are joined by Ken Hammond, professor of East Asian and Global History at New Mexico State University and an activist with the organization Pivot to Peace to discuss the anniversary of the Shanghai Communique, which established relations between the United States and China and the One-China Policy, how the split between China and the Soviet Union contributed to the Communique and how it affected the socialist movement in the US, how the US relationship with China has changed over the last fifty years as China has stuck to its socialist development and not bowed down to US hegemony, and how China fits into the current crisis over NATO aggression in Eastern Europe and Russia’s conflict with Ukraine.
    In the second segment, Sean and Jacquie are joined by Tiandra Robinson, Communications Workers of America Campaign Assistant to discuss the victory and continuing struggle of call center workers for adequate healthcare coverage and higher wages, the partnership between the federal government and private contractor Maximus to provide assistance to people enrolling in healthcare in the Affordable Care Act marketplace, and the importance of this labor struggle in the context of increased labor activism in the US.
    Later in the show, Sean and Jacquie are joined by Eleanor Goldfield, Eleanor Goldfield, a creative activist, journalist, co-host of Project Censored, and the filmmaker behind the documentary “Hard Road of Hope” to discuss what anti-imperialism means in the current moment and the propagandization behind blaming Russia as the aggressor in the Ukraine crisis despite NATO’s aggression, the racism in the coverage and exceptionalization of the coverage of Ukraine by the mainstream corporate media as it ignores scores of victims of US imperialism, censorship of positions that do not line up with the interests of Washington and the ruling class by social media and the mainstream corporate media’s toeing of Washington’s line, and the importance of anti-imperialists having courage in our convictions.

    Corporate Media Offers Anemic Coverage of NATO Aggression In Ukraine Feb 25, 2022

    In this episode of By Any Means Necessary, hosts Sean Blackmon and Jacquie Luqman are joined by Richard Becker, National Organizer for the ANSWER Coalition to discuss how the history of Ukraine and the Soviet Union and the western-backed color revolution in 2014 factor into the ongoing crisis over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the oil and gas interests that were behind the 2014 coup and which are benefited by the cancellation of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline and the rise on oil prices, the corporate media’s casting of Russia’s invasion as a sudden and unprovoked event rather than acknowledging the complicity of the US and NATO in goading Russia into invasion with its drive to push NATO membership to states on Russia’s border, and the crucial task of the anti-imperialist movement to oppose any NATO war or new sanctions against Russia.

    Anti-Imperialists In The US Must Place Their Full Focus On Washington Feb 23, 2022

    In this episode of By Any Means Necessary, hosts Sean Blackmon and Jacquie Luqman are joined by Hannah Dickinson, professor and organizer with Geneva Women’s Assembly in Geneva, NY and Managing Editor of Breaking The Chains Magazine to discuss efforts to protect some of the gains won by reproductive justice activists through the Women’s Health Protection Act, what the political outlook is in the Senate and why the movement is not only necessary, but crucial, to its passage, the attacks on women’s health and reproductive justice that have come from state governments and the Supreme Court, and how we can get involved in the fight to protect women’s health.
    In the second segment, Sean and Jacquie are joined by Dr. Mamyrah Prosper, Assistant Professor of Global and International Studies at the University of California Irvine and International Coordinator with Community Movement Builders to discuss recent strikes by workers in Haiti for better wages, the history of US imperialism in impoverishing Haitian workers and exploiting the power of the dollar, and how the labor movement fits into the recent wave in labor activism in the United States.
    In the third segment, Sean and Jacquie are joined by Asantewa Nkrumah-Ture Organizer and Member of the Philadelphia Tenant Union, and the Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign/Poor People's Army to discuss a victory over intimidation tactics used to try to force Asantewa Nkrumah Ture to leave her home despite her legal rights to remain in her home for a certain period of time, the importance of the Philadelphia movement in keeping Asantewa safe and helping her secure her legal victory, and how the intimidation faced by Asantewa is more commonplace than generally known.
    Later in the show, Sean and Jacquie are joined by Walter Smolarek, a journalist and activist editor of Liberation newspaper, and managing editor of LiberationNews.org to discuss the rapid-fire propaganda being pushed by the corporate media on Ukraine and the potential for war with Russia and what history such coverage conveniently leaves out, the misplaced “neither Washington nor Moscow” attitude among some members of the movement and why full focus should be on the US because of its dominance in world affairs, and why it’s important to fight against US imperialism in solidarity with poor, working, and oppressed people who are subject to imperialism all over the world.
