Buffy the Gilmore Slayer: A Buffy and Gilmore Girls Podcast

A Crossover Movie Event! Apr 17, 2025

Show notes

Guys, we’re back, and we brought some friends! Instead of comparing two shows, we joined forces with the hosts of another Buffy podcast, Boys Watching Buffy, to review a movie starring a Gilmore Girl: The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. We chat all about the sometimes cringe, yet surprisingly emotional summer adventures of Carmen, Lena, Bridget, Tibby(!?), and their shared, dirty, pair of regular-looking, yet magical pants. Whether you’ve seen this movie or not, whether you liked it or didn’t, we’re pretty sure we can all agree that one dad really sucks. Enjoy!

P.S. Our microphones missed us and are a little HOT in portions of the podcast. Sorry!

Be sure to check out Boys Watching Buffy!

Also get hyped for Étoile with us by watching this not super marketed trailer, and make sure you're subscribed to our YouTube channel for upcoming content!

The show Stacey produces, Sketch Cram, is this Saturday night! You can buy a live stream ticket no matter where you live and watch for up to 7 days after the show.

We've Been Busy, But We're Still Here! Nov 26, 2024

Show notes

Happy early American Thanksgiving! It's been a couple months since we released our last episode, so we wanted to let you know what we've been up to. We catch you up on everything we've been watching. We share some highlights from our recent trip to the Pacific Northwest including a few brushes with danger. We share a bit about our trip to Connecticut to host the Gilmore Girls cast panel. Plus we've got some updates about where we're at with our next phase of content, including a wild pitch for a potential podcast. And you won't believe what Bryan's using gloves for now!
We forgot to mention this on the podcast, but we finally got to meet our musical collaborator friend, Kenny, at Fan Fest, where he performed live on stage and as a town troubadour! He's the one who wrote/sang the song in our music video for "Getaway (Stars Hollow)" . Check out Kenny's other music and follow him on social media @theotherrealmmusic.
Be sure to check out our friends' podcast, Gilmore Ball Z, if you haven't already.
Stacey's next Sketch Cram is Saturday 12/21! Tickets available for both in person and livestream.

Firebuns Wrap-up Sep 10, 2024

Show notes

We did it! We watched and compared Joss and Amy's other two shows. They didn't have quite as much in common as Buffy and Gilmore, but they are both about ragtag groups of people who become each other's found family, led by reluctant heroes. Also both shows feature young, thin, petite girls who can do impressive stuff with their bodies. Oh, and Mitchum! We discuss what worked about the shows, what didn't, and where they maybe would have gone with more seasons. Plus we do an accidental ad for Gain detergent! We will be taking a little break, but please stay tuned for what's next!
Here is that Honest Trailer for Firefly that we mentioned.
Here is the Bunheads Farewell Dance.
Here is the link for the Gilmore Girls Fan Fest weekend. Pretty sure there are still some tickets available.
And come see Stacey's live show, Sketch Cram in New York on September 28th!

Bunheads Final Four: Part 2 Aug 27, 2024

Show notes

Bunheads Episode 17 "It's Not a Mint"/Bunheads Episode 18 "Next!"
Welp, that's a wrap on Bunheads... did not expect it to end in the middle of a sex ed lesson, but at least we got a cool final dance. We begin with a Bracebridge-esque, town-hunkering-down-together episode, featuring Sean Gunn as basically Kirk. Then we watch as Michelle tries to balance her goals of achieving stardom with her growing pile of sex questions from her students. We do get some nice relationship-mending moments, and some final hilarious bits from some of the silliest side characters. Plus we share some weird things we've done with condoms.

Serenity Aug 13, 2024

Show notes

Our discussion on the conclusion to the Firefly series: "Serenity"
This week we catch up with the crew of Serenity in their feature film! Fortunately, this little show was blessed with the chance to tie up some loose ends. It ties up some of the, arguably, most interesting ends, however, we do wish they had a bit more time to focus on certain characters. We get cameos from a couple famous actors, and a visitor from Joss's sex bot closet. Shepherd Book still doesn't give us any of his backstory, but does teach us a thing or two about leaves, and Inara has learned some fancy incense tricks. And don't worry, everything's gonna be great.

Bunheads Final Four: Part 1 Jul 30, 2024

Show notes

Bunheads Episode 15 "Take the Vicuna"/Bunheads Episode 16 "There's Nothing Worse Than a Pantsuit"
Witness the drama unfold as boyfriends *gasp* try to sit with their girlfriends at lunch, and Michelle and her brother... don't go to Burning Man? You thought Michelle's brother was bad? Wait till you meet their mom! Sasha's new apartment has everyone in a tizzy. Fanny makes a deal with Milly, after Milly pulls some real Paris sh*t. We were super excited to see Sal again, but for us, he's lost a bit of that somehow not creepy, butt-identifier charm. Michelle's having a whole new crisis. And we've got some hot takes about a 40-year old movie.

A Touch of Madness Jul 16, 2024

Show notes

Firefly Episode 14 "Objects in Space"/Bunheads Episode 14 "The Astronaut and the Ballerina"
This week's Firefly introduces a man by the name of Early: a complex, interesting, possibly mad character that we'd love to see more of. Unfortunately this was the last episode... Meanwhile, Bunhead Ginny is driven to madness by some parental drama. AND... coincidentally, (or maybe not? AMY!?) Early and Ginny both process a reveal concerning violence towards dogs!? While Early lurks on the Serenity, Melanie lurks on some roller derby practices. Michelle cosplays as early Season 1 Lorelai, while Kaylee cosplays as ole feet-on-the-lap Rory. Oh! And those other roller derby names were Scary Skate and Crashley.

Show notes

Bunheads Episode 13 "I'll Be Your Meyer Lansky"/Firefly Episode 13 "Heart of Gold"
Fanny and Michelle take steps to better utilize their land, while Inara enlists the Serenity crew to help an old friend defend her brothel. Both episodes feature characters being forced to the ground, as well as villainous characters who are passionate about theater and getting what they want. We find out that neither Michelle nor Inara's friend finished school. It's hard to say which location features more boobs: the brothel or Charlie's bedroom. Both episodes end with a woman deciding to leave someone she loves. And Bryan's gone from not knowing Ginny's name to just calling everyone Melanie.

BEEEEEANS!!!!! Jun 18, 2024

Show notes

Firefly Episode 12 "The Message"/Bunheads Episode 12 "Channing Tatum Is a Fine Actor"
Just when we thought Amy was out of things to borrow from Joss, she went ahead and borrowed beans. Not only that, but both shows also feature fake moustaches, stupid hats, a new mysterious guy starting a flirtation with a main character, and men with classically female names. We're willing to concede this is more of a coincidence than something borrowed, but both episodes also happen to feature actors that Joss and Amy love to use in all their shows. And we got a new bed! ...which we definitely didn't pay for with that money we got from those organ ads.
