    Show notes

Thom Hazaert is my guest this week. I think it would be easier to say what we didn't chat about than what we did, but we run the gamut of topics including how Thom got involved in the music industry at a younger age. How he was one of the first to use street teams in the 90's/2000's to help break bands like Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park and so many others. We talk about the continued success of Ellefson Coffee, and what's in store for the EMP Label Group for the rest of this year and SO MUCH MORE. Also premiering a new Mark Slaughter track from Mark's upcoming album, HalfWay There, which will be out on May 26th via the EMP Label Group. The song is called "Disposable" and features some special guest vocalists that you'll hear about towards the end of this episode. Pre Orders for HalfWay There can be at Empmerch.com. Show notes

My chat with Nate and Ivy Barcalow where we discuss how the couple met almost 20 years ago, some of Nate's first bands as well as a more rounded look into what the early success of Finch looked like from the perspective of significant other, and how being away from your loved one effects both parties while being out on tour. We talk a bit about my favorite Finch album, Say Hello To Sunshine, and go behind the scenes of the band during that time frame, and discuss how it was widely considered to be a commercial flop and how Ivy and Nate dealt with a some of the issues stemming from the band breaking up. We also chat about Nate's new project, Private Lives, and how Ivy is involved with that and what we can expect from the new band overall. This was a chat I had with Chad Nicefield, singer of Wilson. This interview was done for a feature I was writing on the band, but have been sitting on this audio and there's a lot of things we talked about that didn't end up in the feature so figured I'd release it as a podcast. We discuss the beginning of the band, as well discussing how the band got the opportunity to record with Steve Evetts, and the decision to change a bit of the sound on their most recent album "Right to Rise" as well as discussing what it was like to play in the bataclan shortly after the Paris attacks and the shootings that took place inside the venue during an eagles of death metal show. My chat with Schuylar Croom, vocalist of He Is Legend, where we discuss the bands upcoming album, Few, and why they chose to go the crowdfunding route. What went into the perks the band offered, and the added pressures of making a record your fans paid for. We also get into the lyrical themes of the record, and where some of the inspirations for some of the songs came from, as well as the writing process for this album now that the bands "newer" members have had time to gel with each other after dropping "Heavy Fruit" a few years back and touring on it. We discuss the plans for HIL once the album is dropped and some bands they'd like to hit the road with and much more.
