Little wonder, then, Josh Williams and David Hughes have got a lot to get stuck into in the latest episode of Analysing Anfield. They start with the signing of Thiago Alcantara, the Bayern Munich midfielder with the ‘unique skill-set’ who cannot only spot openings other players can’t, but has the technique to execute them. Basically, they believe the Spanish international’s arrival means Liverpool will now have the answer to most questions posed to them by opponents, or in their own words, ‘two Plan As’. But what about Wolves winger Diogo Jota, who swiftly followed Thiago through the Anfield doors? Is the Portuguese, who was previously identified as a transfer target by Dave and Josh in April, a back-up option to the front three? Or, on closer inspection of the data, is he actually a heir to Sadio Mane’s throne? The guys answer those questions before reviewing the mightily impressive 2-0 victory at Chelsea, focusing particularly on Thiago’s eye-catching cameo, and previewing Monday’s clash with an Arsenal team who have had Liverpool’s numbers in recent times.

Diogo Jota lowdown | Wolves view on Liverpool's latest signing | Luis Suarez comparison Sep 22, 2020

Liverpool have signed Diogo Jota from Wolves for an initial fee of £41m, with the forward potentially to make his Reds debut on Thursday night. To get the lowdown on the Portugal international, Blood Red's Matt Addison speaks to the Birmingham Mail's Alex Dicken, who covers Wolves regularly. Alex explains where Jota will fit in under Jurgen Klopp, why he could one day be a long-term replacement for either Sadio Mane or Roberto Firmino, and how he compares to Adama Traore. There is also an interesting comparison made to former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, though Jota will have to considerably increase his consistency to reach anything like the Uruguayan's level! The chat concludes with a discussion about Ki-Jana Hoever, the Dutch youngster who moved to Wolves from Liverpool for a fee that could rise to as much as £13.5m, in a separate transfer deal. Enjoy!

Liverpool are closing in on a £27million move to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara, making him their second transfer deal of the summer. The 29-year-old Spaniard was not an active target for the Reds until Monday when talks were opened, and the player is expected to be officially unveiled shortly. Liverpool.com's Joel Rabinowitz joins Blood Red's Matt Addison to react to the news, talking through how Thiago represents a change in approach for FSG, where the midfielder will fit into the starting XI, and what it means for Fabinho, Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The deal is NOT dependent on Gini Wijnaldum leaving the club, so Jurgen Klopp has plenty of midfield options to pick from as the Premier League champions enter the next stage of their evolution. Enjoy.
