Blood Red: The Great Liverpool FC Sale | Brewster, Shaqiri, Grujic, Wilson Oct 02, 2020
    Show notes

Rhian Brewster is on his way to Sheffield United and the young striker could be joined out of the Liverpool exit door by Xherdan Shaqiri, Marko Grujic and Harry Wilson before Monday’s transfer deadline. Little wonder, then, that potential sales are the big talking point of the Blood Red podcast as the Premier League champions’ razor-sharp sporting director Michael Edwards looks to balance the books after the signings of Diogo Jota, Thiago Alcantara and Kostas Tsimikas. Guy Clarke, Connor Dunn and Dan Kay also look back on Thursday night’s Carabao Cup defeat to Arsenal and Jurgen Klopp’s press conference from earlier today – and look ahead to Sunday’s Premier League clash at Aston Villa. Enjoy.

Analysing Anfield: Liverpool and Virgil van Dijk, the master problem solvers, and why Ruben Dias signing won't address Man City's issues Oct 01, 2020
    Show notes

Liverpool underlined why they are the Premier League champions with a superb 3-1 victory over Arsenal on Monday that came on the back of closest rivals Manchester City losing 5-2 at home to Leicester City. Man City followed that humiliating defender by signing yet another defender in the shape of the £65m Ruben Dias. But as Josh Williams and David Hughes explain on the latest Analysing Anfield podcast, Dias may not be the man to address their huge defensive concerns. Virgil van Dijk has certainly been a transformational signing for Liverpool, however, but Josh and David argue on Monday he showed why he is a problem solver in more ways than one as part of their deep dive into the win against Arsenal. Talk then turn to this weekend’s visit to Aston Villa, and their signing of former Everton midfielder Ross Barkley, and early thoughts on the title race and the buys that are being made, including City’s capture of Benfica’s Dias.
