Doomcoming: Yellowjackets 2.09 Storytelling Jan 29, 2025

Show notes

Welcome to Doomcoming, a Beyond Buffering podcast where hosts Jenny Owen Youngs and Kristin Russo cover Yellowjackets one episode at a time, spoiler free.

It's the FINALE of Season 2 of Yellowjackets!!! We are making Hot PhenobarbiCocoa at Camp Lottie, burning down cabins in the wilderness, and surviving on a dinner of Roast Javi. Jeff is in cohoots with Walter. Coach Ben is moving into a tree. Saracusa is totally fucked. Teen Shauna is writing in her slam book in the attic. Not enough knives are dulled for a present day hunt. A LOT OF SAD THINGS HAPPEN THAT WE DON'T WANT TO WRITE ABOUT BUT WE ARE FORCED TO TALK ABOUT.

It's time for Season 2, Episode 9: "Storytelling" ... which means it is also time to ready ourselves for SEASON 3 OF THIS WILD SHOW, premiering February 14th. Wow. We did it.

Our episodes are spoiler-free, so you can watch along with us in real time if you haven't seen the series yet, and each episode will also include a segment at the end called "What's The Buzz" where we talk about some spoilery theories for those of you who have seen the whole first season and who might be as deep into Reddit as Jenny...

Doomcoming: Yellowjackets 2.08 It Chooses Jan 29, 2025

Show notes

Welcome to Doomcoming, a Beyond Buffering podcast where hosts Jenny Owen Youngs and Kristin Russo cover Yellowjackets one episode at a time, spoiler free.

Uh-oh — Queen of Hearts ACTIVATE — we've officially decided to craft a ritual for eating our friends in the wilderness!!! It's not because we want to though it is is because the wilderness wants us to. Make sure you remember that! Triangle Buddy said FEAST UPON THINE FRIENDS JUST AS I ONCE DID WITH SKELETON BUDDY. Also, in the present timeline, Van throws the keys to the van (no relation) into the woods so we are all stuck in the sharing shack together revealing secrets and pouring phenobarbital cocktails.

It's time for Season 2, Episode 8: "It Chooses."

Doomcoming: Yellowjackets 2.07 Burial Jan 29, 2025

Show notes

Welcome to Doomcoming, a Beyond Buffering podcast where hosts Jenny Owen Youngs and Kristin Russo cover Yellowjackets one episode at a time, spoiler free.

We are burying many things this week, and perhaps most dangerous of all: OUR FEELINGS! In the past, the search begins for Crystal (where the f*ck is Crystal, y'all), Ben shaves, and Shauna's most authentic self kicks the ever living shit out of Lottie's most authentic self. In the present we've got a musical, a goat named Bruce, and a snowy dance of glee between old pals who have a very grounded and healthy history together!

It's time for Season 2, Episode 7: "Burial."

Doomcoming: Yellowjackets 2.06 Qui Jan 29, 2025

Show notes

Welcome to Doomcoming, a Beyond Buffering podcast where hosts Jenny Owen Youngs and Kristin Russo cover Yellowjackets one episode at a time, spoiler free.

Reunited and it feels so good: BFF of the pod Joanna Robinson joins Jenny to discuss an episode that is absolutely none of Kristin’s business at the moment! Shauna completely forgets about the most important cookies she ever read, Misty endures the sobbing of some granola losers in the name of culinary excellence, and LOOK OUT because Jeff got the aux back!! Also the show finds new ways to upset us more deeply than we ever thought possible… how DO they do it?!

It's time for Season 2, Episode 6: "Qui."

Doomcoming: Yellowjackets 2.05 Two Truths and A Lie Jan 29, 2025

Show notes

Welcome to Doomcoming, a Beyond Buffering podcast where hosts Jenny Owen Youngs and Kristin Russo cover Yellowjackets one episode at a time, spoiler free.

Walter and Misty find Natalie at Camp Lottie (shout out to the phrase "woo woo bullshit" appearing in this very episode), Shauna pretends to sleep with Randy, Callie leans into her new life of crime, Shadow Tai plants one on Van, and in the 1997 wilderness Crystal falls from a cliff and Shauna goes into labor ALL DURING A SNOWSTORM. Also Javi has "a friend."

There's a lot to discuss, ok?!

It's Season 2, Episode 5: "Two Truths and A Lie"!
