Carlos King (on RHOA, RHOBH, Teresa, Bethenny, Rinna, Kyle, Two RHONY's & The Future of Housewives!) Aug 17, 2022

Show notes

Carlos King steps back Behind The Rope. Picking right up from where we left off last time, Carlos chats current seasons of RHOA (Marlo’s Peach, the return of Shereé, Kenya supposedly passing the villain baton) & RHONJ (just wrapped filming), where each of those franchises have been and where they are going. We break down Carlos’ Infamous Top Ten Housewives List - Nene, Teresa and Bethenny in the top three seats, an underrated Danielle Staub making the cut, the glaring lack of any RHOBH and why Kyle Richards is his Queen of the 90210. Carlos chats Teresa spin off rumors - in addition to her wedding special, why New Jersey cannot survive without Tre and why he prefers an OG cast for any franchise any day. Speaking of an OG cast, Carlos breaks down what having two RHONY’s really means, how to properly cast the RHONY reboot, which OG’s he thinks deserve a seat at the OG table, why Bethenny Frankel secretly does want to be a part of the franchise and why no one should count Eboni K. Williams out just yet. The best producer in the history of Reality TV is here to mention it all.

ANNE HECHE (on an Iconic Career and Life Well Lived) - A Tribute Interview Aug 16, 2022

Show notes

I had the pleasure of interviewing Anne Heche earlier this year. I, and everyone at the Behind The Velvet Rope Podcast, are deeply saddened to hear of her passing last week. Besides a career in Hollywood that most could only dream of, having started in some of the most iconic TV and Film of all time, she was an actress whose craft had been perfected to the nth degree. During this interview, she was so gracious with her time. She was kind, open, honest, forthright, a bright light and so very full of life. A trailblazer. I hope that by listening to this chat, you are able to get a glimpse into what a remarkable woman she was. Having spoken to her for just this hour, I sure did. We release this episode today as a tribute to the life of Anne Heche.

Anne Heche steps Behind The Rope. Actress of Film, TV, Stage. Best Selling Author. Activist. Trailblazer. Director. Icon In The Flesh. Now Podcast Host. The ONE. The ONLY. Miss Anne Heche!! Anne is here to cover it all and have one of the most open, honest, raw conversations The Rope has ever had! Anne chats about her Iconic Career from its beginnings on Another World to starting in more movies and TV shows than we could ever list - Donnie Brasco, Six Days, Seven Nights, Ally McBeal, Nip/Tuck, Wag the Dog, to name a few. Anne chats about her favorite roles, the ones she wants to forget, her favorite co-stars, who she would still love to work with, and why this brilliant accomplished actress still has to audition for parts. Anne opens up about what it was like to be the original one Cancelled before Cancel Culture was a thing as a result of her bringing Ellen DeGeneres to a movie premiere as her date and Ellen’s coming out of “Yup, I’m Gay” at a time when the world wasn’t 2022. Anne talks about those ten long years when no one in Hollywood would cast her, her public fallout with Ellen, what it’s like being “tied” to Ellen in the public eye all these years later, how The Ellen Show complicated her search for work even further and what she thinks, in a full circle moment, about Ellen’s now Cancellation after being deemed The Queen of Mean. Anne talks about her star turn on Dancing With The Stars, her love of Reality TV - her Best of List is music to our ears - and whether and why she would ever join or not join The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills!! Of course, we chat with Anne about her book “Call Me Crazy”, the biggest misperceptions about her regarding the subject, and whether an open and honest discussion about mental health can be had stigma free in the world we live in today. Anne Heche in a hold nothing back chat like you have never heard her before.

KATHRYN DENNIS (on Southern Charm Past, Present, & Future - A Tell All!) Aug 15, 2022

Show notes

Kathryn Dennis steps Behind The Rope. Southern Charm’s Kathryn Dennis that is. Kathryn is here to chat about the highs and lows, the good and bad of her entire time on Southern Charm, both on and off screen, over the past many years. Kathryn discusses the challenges of “putting it all” out there, no matter how personal, for the world to see, and consequently judge. Kathryn chats about how she has learned to cope with the public having an opinion about everything that she does in her life and what advice she would give to her twenty one year old self, before her many breakups, and two children, Season One Southern Charm, just starting out. Kathryn chats about the many ups and downs of some of her friendships with the men of SC - Craig, Austen & Shep, the women - Madison, Leva, & Naomie and who out of casts past she would most like and least like to have back - Cameran, Landon, Chelsea. Of course, with various cast members linked to A-Rod, Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler in the past, we needed all the gossip and to deep dive on what Kathryn really knows. Kathryn Dennis in a rare sit down like you have never heard her before.

Kim D. (Breaks Down The Real Reasons Melissa & Joe Gorga Did Not Attend Tre's Wedding - The Cheating Rumors, The Cast's Involvement & What Happens Now!!) Aug 12, 2022

Show notes

Melissa and Joe did not attend Teresa’s wedding. Tomorrow, Kim D. is back where she is every Saturday on our Patreon where we will be breaking down Tre’s big day - the hair, the gloves, the dresses, the fog, the nuptials, the guest list and everything else in between. Before we get there though, today we wanted to share with you an episode that would normally be on Patreon with Kim D. There is so much going on in RHONJ land that one episode this week was just not enough. We break down the chain of events that led Joe and Melissa to boycott Tre’s big day, the cheating allegations against Mel, the rumors Joey G charged Luis at the finale and much more. We also break down the multitude of rumors regarding this fractured family thereafter - namely that Tre sent a bil to Mel and Joe for not attending, all of the RHONJ cast’s involvement - including newbies Danielle Cabral and Rachel Fuda, what we will actually see this season when RHONJ returns and, most important of all, how, if at all, do Tre, Mel and Joey move forward from here.

We chat about the Iconic “break out” role of Damian, why that character resonated and still resonates with people almost 20 years later, how it changed the lives of so many gay and “other” kids worldwide and just why, out of all the characters in this epic film, Damian is the one everyone can agree brings oh so much joy to the masses. TAYLOR ARMSTRONG (on RHOBH, Russell, The Domestic Abuse, Lisa Vanderpump & OG Cast!) - II Aug 08, 2022

Show notes

Taylor Armstrong steps back Behind The Rope. Who can believe its been eleven years since Taylor first appeared on the freshman season of the currently highest rated Housewives franchise, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Feeling nostalgic, Taylor takes a trip down memory lane during her tenure on RHOBH with castmates Lisa Vanderpump, Kyle and Kim Richards, Adrienne Maloof and Camille Donatacci Grammer (now Meyer). The ORIGINAL Dinner Party from hell - Allison DuBois, Faye Resnick & one epic e cigarette pen, what could go wrong?, a $50,000 Birthday soirée for a four year old, one epic stretch limo fight between two sisters that ended with the “a” word being thrown around and early accusations of LVP leaking stories to the press before that was “a thing”, we cover it all. On a more serious note, we chat with Taylor about the domestic abuse she endured from her husband at the time, Russel Armstrong, through most of her marriage and while filming RHOBH. We dive deep into topics such as why join RHOBH with this hidden secret, the difficulties of filming trying to hide this from the cast, how did she convince Russel to “let” her join RHOBH, did the show make the abuse worse, who from diamond holders did she confide in, and finally, did RHOBH, in effect, save her life? Taylor opens up about the full range of emotions expressed after she found then husband Russel Armstrong hanging in his LA home and resulting legal battles she faced as result of inheriting his several million dollar debt. Taylor reflects on how lucky she is to be here today, a gift she has shared in her aptly titled “Hiding From Reality” book and now shares in public speaking engagements across the county in the hopes of helping others suffering from domestic violence. On a lighter note, Taylor became part of a viral cat meme a few years back, you know the one, which we dissect. Of course we chat about the storyline and casting high points and mistakes of RHOBH throughout the years, whether the current cast is “right” or needs to be changed, the presence of actresses as Housewives, the realness of the show present day, Erika Jayne’s current legal woes, and much more.

***If you or a loved one are a victim of domestic violence, contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 for confidential assistance from trained advocates.
