    Becoming Financially Confident

Breaking Free from Financial Shame, one conversation at a time.

Most money advice assumes you already know what you’re doing. This show doesn’t.
Becoming Financially Confident is a live weekday show for people who want to get their financial life in order without being lectured, judged, or sold something. Host Ralph Estep Jr. is a Licensed Public Accountant with more than 30 years of experience sitting across the desk from real people and real businesses — the shoebox of receipts, the tax notice nobody wants to open, the budget that never quite balances. He has made his own expensive mistakes, and he talks about them openly.

This is not a new voice. Ralph has published more than 1,200 episodes across eight seasons, earned national recognition for his work, and written nearly a thousand articles on money, taxes, technology, and small business. Becoming Financially Confident is the next chapter of that same show, in the same feed — sharper, live, and built around one idea: you are capable of figuring this out.

Every show opens with Headlines: what happened in the money world, and why it matters to your money and not just somebody’s portfolio. From there, the recurring segments include:

Do the Math — one real financial decision run all the way to the number.
The Envelope — a full teardown of a single financial product, account, or government program.
Yes or No — a question that usually gets “well, it depends” gets an actual answer.
Side Hustle Corner — what a side gig really pays after expenses, self-employment tax, and the hours nobody counts.
Explain It Like I’m Broke — plain-English translation of the jargon that keeps people from asking.
Scam of the Week — the ones running right now, and how to spot them before they cost you.
Bill of the Week — a line-by-line look at something everybody pays and almost nobody reads.
Homework — one task, free, finishable in fifteen minutes, with a check-in before the week is out.
Wins of the Week — listeners who did the thing, and what actually happened when they did.
What It Cost Me — Ralph puts his own money mistakes on the table.

This show is for the person making good money who still can’t say where it goes. The couple who have been meaning to build a budget for four years. The 52-year-old who opened the retirement statement and closed it again. The freelancer who just got a tax bill they weren’t expecting. If you have ever felt like everyone else got a manual you never received, you are the reason this show exists.

Here is the thing nobody says out loud: most people aren’t stuck because they lack discipline. They’re stuck because they’re ashamed — of the balance, of the mistake, of the years they didn’t start. Shame keeps the statement unopened and the question unasked, and an unasked question never gets answered. So this show asks them out loud, without flinching and without judgment, and then hands you the actual tools.

    Not just informed. Equipped.

Live at 11:30 AM Eastern, Monday through Friday, with the full episode in your podcast feed by 5:00 PM the same day. Weekly highlights drop every Saturday.

Ralph Estep Jr., LPA, is the founder of Saggio Management Group, an accounting practice he has run in Middletown, Delaware for more than 30 years. He is a financial educator, author, business coach, and podcast host.

Today, we’re diving into the truth that your financial confidence isn’t about the cash in your wallet—it’s all about your relationship with Christ. We’ve all been there, right? You’ve got your budget, you’re saving like a champ, but then that pesky fear sneaks in and makes you question if it’s enough. Spoiler alert: it’s not about those numbers; it’s about anchoring your peace in God’s promises. So, let’s talk about how to kick those financial fears to the curb and embrace the lasting peace that only comes from surrendering to Him. Get comfy, and let’s get into it—How Do I Unleash Unshakable Financial Confidence Through Christ?

    Read today’s blog article

Check out the full podcast episode here

Diving into the nitty-gritty of financial confidence, we explored the idea that no matter how much we save or budget, there's always that nagging voice of doubt whispering, 'What if it isn't enough?' But here's the kicker: your financial peace isn't tethered to your bank account or your spreadsheet; it's anchored in Christ. We took a stroll through some powerful scriptures that remind us where our true peace lies. From John 14:27 to Philippians 4:7, it’s all about finding that divine assurance that transcends our worldly worries. We acknowledged that perfectionism can creep in and shake our confidence, but we’re here to throw that fear out the window. Instead of counting dollars, we should be counting on God. I challenged everyone to get real about their financial fears, to drag those worries into the light, and to surrender them. It’s like lightening your load—who doesn’t want to feel that relief? So, we wrapped up with a prayer, reminding ourselves that our confidence isn’t in cash, but in the Creator.

    Takeaways:

    • Surrendering your financial fears is key to finding true peace in life.
    • Your financial confidence shouldn't come from your bank balance but from your faith.
    • Even if you follow the perfect budget, your peace ultimately relies on Christ alone.
    • Daily practices of surrendering fears can help you anchor your peace in God's promises.
    • Financial stability is good, but don't let it be the source of your confidence.
    • True peace comes from God, not from the numbers in your bank account.

What Kind of Financial Legacy Do I Want to Leave for God’s Kingdom? Jul 22, 2025
    Show notes

We’re diving into a biggie today: what happens to your money when you’re gone? Yep, it's a heavy topic, but it’s super important. We’re talking about leaving a legacy that doesn’t just stack up cash but actually builds God’s kingdom. It’s all about being intentional with our finances and thinking long-term. So, whether you’re rich or just getting by, you can leave an impact that points others to Jesus. Trust me, it’s not just for the wealthy; it’s for anyone willing to make a difference! Let’s dig in and figure out how to shape your financial legacy today—what kind of financial legacy do I want to leave for God’s kingdom?

    Read today’s blog article

Check out the full podcast episode here

Financial habits are crucial, but let’s get real—what happens to your hard-earned cash when you’re no longer around? Today, Ralph dives into the nitty-gritty of legacy planning. Sure, it’s a heavy topic, but it’s one that needs our attention, right? We’ve got our budgets down, we’re living with purpose, but are we thinking about how our financial lives can keep making an impact for God’s kingdom even after we’ve shuffled off this mortal coil? Ralph pulls no punches, reminding us that stewardship doesn’t end at death—it’s a long-term game. He shares wisdom from Proverbs and 1 Timothy to hammer home the point: leaving an inheritance isn’t just for the wealthy; it’s for anyone willing to be intentional about their legacy. He urges us to define what we want our money to achieve after we’re gone and how we can bless others, making it clear that you don’t need a fat wallet to make a lasting impact. It’s all about the heart and intention behind our financial decisions.

As Ralph unpacks these ideas, he breaks down actionable steps to help us get started on our legacy planning, like envisioning what we want to leave behind and identifying specific areas to focus on—be it a will, charitable giving, or saving for future missions. He emphasizes that these conversations about money aren’t just for us; they’re for our family too. We need to communicate our values and intentions clearly to those we leave behind. It’s about building a legacy that points others to Christ, and Ralph encourages us to take one small step toward that today. Think about what you want to accomplish with your finances after you’re gone; it’s time to get intentional about our legacy and ensure our financial stories tell a meaningful tale even after we’re gone.

    Takeaways:

    • Building financial habits is key, but what happens to your money after you're gone?
    • Legacy isn't just for the rich; it's about what you value and how you bless others.
    • Think long-term about your financial legacy and how it can impact God's kingdom.
    • Start planning today by defining your financial legacy and taking small actionable steps.

Cash Can't Buy You Love: Lessons from Warren Buffett Jul 19, 2025
    Show notes

Warren Buffett dropped some serious wisdom that's got me thinking: if nobody thinks well of you, then what’s the point of having a fat bank account? This bonus episode goes into that juicy quote and what it really means for our lives. We chat about how relationships are where it’s at, and how chasing after stuff can leave us feeling pretty empty. Seriously, when it’s all said and done, it’s the connections we build that matter most, not the toys we accumulate. So, let’s reflect on how we’re investing our time and energy—are we building bonds or just banking cash? Join us as we unpack this thought-provoking convo!

    Takeaways:

    • Warren Buffett reminds us that wealth doesn't define success; relationships do.
    • As we age, our focus should shift from accumulating money to building meaningful connections.
    • It's vital to invest in relationships that matter, not just in material possessions.
    • Buffett's wisdom emphasizes that a fat bank account means nothing without respect from others.
    • At the end of our days, what will people remember about us? Our wealth or our kindness?
