Second Chance Review Jul 02, 2025

Show notes

Our hosts return to the podcave doubled in enthusiasm to break down the episode, Second Chance.

Alex and Will dive deep into the long-overdue return of a Two-Face-centric story, explaining why the character remains their second fav villain — get it?

They unpack the episode’s noir-laced animation, its unmistakable Hitchcockian vibes, and the strange surgery procedure that raises more questions than answers.

Plus, raunchy tales of Bruce and Harvey’s mysterious nightlife, the moment Robin almost went out Goodfellas style, and how a skylight just became Batman's new enemy.

Oh — and did anyone else think that the surgeon was Leslie Thompkins? Because it's not! But we totally thought so too.

Riddler's Reform Review Jun 25, 2025

Show notes

Our hosts return to the podcave to dive deep into the iconic episode, "Riddler's Reform."

They kick things off with high praise for the standout voice acting, spotlighting John Glover's performance as the Riddler — calling it not only his best outing in the role, but the definitive version of the villain across all media.

Plus, this episode doesn’t just deliver cerebral thrills — it's got style. The animation is slick, the tone is moody, and yes, it even brings back the coveted "Two-Face Part 2" rain, setting the perfect noir vibe.

Our hosts also uncover the ultimate "Love That Batman" moment, and note the return of everyone's favourite flirty rogue persona: The Rizzler.

And, doesthis episode hint at how Batman acquired the giant T-Rex for the Batcave? The clues may be there…

But things get… questionable when Riddler's TV assistant appears with a question mark strategically placed over her crotch! Is this the greatest riddle of them all?

All that and more is answered in a review that's riddled with fun facts, sharp insight, and plenty of laughs!

Showdown Review Jun 18, 2025

Show notes

Our hosts return to the podcave, dust off their spurs, and ride into the Wild West as they review the episode, “Showdown.”

Alex and Will dive into the animated debut of legendary DC antihero Jonah Hex, discovering his questionable past as a Confederate soldier -- which is quite the departure from his comic book origins.

But, in a surprising twist, the mostly liberal person in 1883 was Ra’s Al Ghul. He stands up against the mistreatment of his labourers and tries to free his small frontier community from a corrupt government railroad takeover. Wild, Wild West, anyone?

They also discuss Ra's catatonic son who probably died on the plane journey home and the premier episode of his history podcast titled, "I Was There!"

Saddle up for another spirited episode filled with time travel, antiheroes, and just the right amount of absurdity.

The Lion and the Unicorn Review Jun 11, 2025

Show notes

Our hosts return to the podcave -- only to find themselves transported back to foggy ol’ London, as they sit down to review The Lion and the Unicorn.

Alex and Will try to figure out whatcentury this version of London is supposed to be set in, while picking up some colourful British slang along the way, such as: “old love,” “stone the crows,” and “a pair of poxy ghosts!”

They also come to the conclusion that British Intelligence might be just as useless as the Gotham Police, by letting Batman and Robin just get on with it. Plus, they speculate that Alfie and Freddie’s “usual place” sounds suspiciously like code for a dogging site, and wonder how Red Claw hasn’t figured out that tying men to chairs and slapping them for info is... well, something people pay for!

Baby-Doll Review Jun 04, 2025

Show notes

Our hosts return to the podcave and sit down to review possibly the most hauntingly human episode of BTAS, Baby-Doll.

Alex and Will dive into Baby-Doll’s first appearance, unpacking the inspiration behind Paul Dini’s creation of the character and why her tragic story still hits hard.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a review without a few classic Gotham oddities. Such as an unexpectedly lethal, karate-kicking henchman, or Robin’s strange slogans as an amateur TV critic. Plus, a fairground in Gotham that isn't condemned or crawling with Joker gas, and how Batman nearly got capped in a jungle gym.

And if you don’t like what Alex and Will have to say about it... well, just remember, "we didn’t mean to..."

Bane Review May 28, 2025

Show notes

Our hosts return to the Podcave and get yoked as they dive into the animated debut of Gotham’s most venomous villain—Bane!

Alex and Will break down the lethal luchador’s first appearance outside the comics, noting how the muscle-bound menace had been in publication for only a year before making the leap to TV.

They also imagine what would happen if he launched his own line of protein powders and how a certain butler gets hooked on them and becomes a "bro".

Plus, Robin throws down in a sibling-style squabble in the pool, and Batman makes a questionable moral call, leaving Candice at the mercy of a well-known dangerous gangster.

Flex your podcast-listening muscles and join us for a pump-up session of Bat-history, animated analysis, and some seriously swole speculation!

Catwalk Review May 20, 2025

Show notes

Our hosts return to the Podcave to review the episode, Catwalk.

Unfortunately, it’s not one that claws its way into their hearts. They both agree that the episode is surprisingly bland and forgettable, falling flat like a plank of wood.

Dong Yang lets it "hang" a bit too much in this episode, as they over animate Scarface's expressions, turning him from a puppet into a real boy. Making him less creepy and more cartoonish, which undermines his intimidation.

Our hosts also joke about Catwoman's cringe poetry recitals, and her apparent belief that the Tasmanian Tiger is a cat and not a marsupial.

Plus, they wonder if the giant log fight between Batman and Rhino was overcompensating for something?

Time Out Of Joint Review May 07, 2025

Show notes

Our hosts return to the podcave and start their clocks for a timely review of TIME OUT OF JOINT.

Alex and Will dive into The Clock King’s latest time-altering gadget and explore how he suddenly becomes one of the most dangerous foes Batman and Robin have ever faced. But, despite the high stakes, this episode takes on a surprisingly light-hearted tone—reminding our hosts of the colorful antics of Batman 66'.

Plus, how much of a know-it-all is Batman when trapped in time? Einstein's theory of relativity and E = mc2...more like E = mc NERD!

In addition, our hosts accidentally invent a brand-new dog call for Robin, find an unexpected new use for the word Wasabi, discover a new way to eat beans, and imagine the explicit scenario that ensues when Alfred gets his hands on the time device. Tick-tock—Alfred's touching his...this one’s a wild ride!

Harlequinade Review Apr 30, 2025

Show notes

Our hosts return to the podcave and sit down to review the episode, Harlequinade.

Alex and Will explore how Harley Quinn’s show-stopping musical number subtly signals the unraveling of her relationship with the Joker. Plus, they notice this episodes particular "cartoony" feel.

They dive into the episode’s wild ride—from Joker’s toy-ready bi-plane to the bizarre question of how the Gotham mob got their hands on an atom bomb!?

Plus, is Batman just... bored in this episode? And what’s up with his angry dad voice behind the wheel?

The Terrible Trio Review (w/ Isaac Robinson Smith) Apr 16, 2025

Show notes

Our hosts return to the podcave and are joined by special guest and friend Isaac Robinson-Smith — the voice of Bishop in X-Men '97 — to review the infamously bad episode, The Terrible Trio.

This podcasting trio of hosts dives into the comic book origins of these three misfit villains, tracing their roots all the way back to the 1950s. They also tackle the big question: why is this episode so widely disliked? Is it the lack of a proper supervillain? The rookie animation team? Or something else entirely?

Along the way, they break down Robin’s latest R-shaped throwing star, speculate on what Alfred says to himself in the mirror, and discuss the many wardrobe choices in Will’s favourite segment — FIT CHECK!

Plus, the gang casts The Terrible Trio in their live-action fan-made universe, and Isaac shares what he's working on now, including a tease of X-Men '97 Season 2!
