    Show notes

Depends on who you ask but that’s more than obvious. Has the reason for break ups differ amongst generations? If you go by decades, the surface reasons have changed but the core reasons are the same. On the surface, may lye on what decade you pop up in. Going back 100 years or so, everything was a bit more family centered and marriage was more of a business tool than a love laten relationship. Break-ups were much rarer and divorce in a religiously homogeneous society was frowned upon. Dating was much of dream during those time. As you move on throughout time love had been at the center of relationships and marriage. Things like compatibility,, family history, bad habits, status, appearance, money and more come into play when relationships are pursued and can also cause a demise.

Dealing With Society's Obsession of Material Things
Society is undoubtedly addicted to technology. From the phones, the way we use them, the labor of seeking approval, and all of the money-draining services. When we go deeper into the fold, we can see that we as people are starting to get obsessed with material things and companies are looking to hold that over our collective heads. In some cases, these things fracture relationships, cause violence and even end life. Commercialization in a capitalist society is a commodity and the more targeted this advertising becomes to every facet of our life, the more urgency seems to be real to have something that probably don’t need or does more harm than good.

Does Your Relationship Truly Have Freedom of Speech? (Bar Talk With Jay (11-21-19) Nov 22, 2019
    Show notes

Do you always speak up? Can you speak up? Is it always your space to say something? We often think of freedom of speech when it comes to the ability to say anything in public but we all know there are limitations. Whether it be your job, your beliefs, the environment, or your relationship, you are limited to what you are able to say. The real question that comes up in a relationship is when it comes to sensitive or important instances, when do you earn the right to say something or more importantly exert your influence? It can be a source of frustration when one party feel improvements can be made. It may require some self reflection and admitting you may not be a perfect person.

Drawing a Line: Dividing and Defining The Financial Responsibilities of Relationships (Bar Talk With Jay 11/14/2019)
Going Dutch can be taboo in the dating discussion. Philosophies may differ from person to person but it is far less complicated in a casual dating situation. On the other hand when it comes to being in a relationship, cohabitating, and we are talking about splitting these bills, you are looking at decisions that directly affect your livelihood.
Income level does influence the way we navigate this topic. Customarily the man in the relationship is looked to be the one to take care of the bills and the woman helps where she can. In 2019 with high earners coming from both ends of the spectrum, you may find that the woman may be a better choice to do the financial lifting. Also in the current society, inflation and development have affected everything from food to property value. In some cases, it really takes two to make things go. If we have the same goals financially, maybe decide to pool resources, with everything being equal where should the divide of financial responsibility come? How much trust is needed in order to feel like you are financially taken care of? However you need to accomplish your financial goals shouldn’t matter but deep down inside, does it?

    Show notes

When your special someone mentions to you about something about their work spouse how does that make you feel? Is it a family friend that’s around all the time or is it a person that you hardly know that is in constant contact and it’s always “about work”?
For any person, single or attached, a work spouse relationship can develop in different ways, with the Utopian
scenario is very endearing friendship. The most useful versions would be a strategic alliance or a chemistry-based alliance. In most situations, both parties are knowingly keeping this relationship limited to a professional manner but each person actually cares. Now when there is any level of physical attraction, it is suggested to have honesty but….you know.
So where do you set your boundaries with workplace-only companionship? Could you handle your significant other having someone really looking out for them in a caring way? Is it a must for you to meet the key co-workers or is it we keep our distance?

    Show notes

In 2019, haters have evolved. They have different methods of coming at you. They use different channels such as Facebook and Twitter and a multitude of methods to get under your skin. Everyone has haters of some kind. Some may be less obvious than others, ranging from anonymous commentators to your trusted inner circle. Some people may see those who oppose them as haters but may only have passionate fans who want the best. How can you tell the difference? Before you can deal with haters, if they are, you must recognize the different types of haters that can exist and their motives. Once you know what you're dealing with, then it’s time to use the proper technique of dealing with them. The most common way is just to work above their existence. This may seem harder when some of your biggest haters are people close to you and could even be family. It may even seem tougher when are actively sabotaging your efforts. You are not looking to carry yourself above someone like your better but in the sense that you can refrain from using thought processes that don’t keep your spirit in line. Ultimately you are trying not let your haters control, you, your actions, or thoughts. Once they have influence, they have control. Be wary of them all.

The Selection Process: Picking A Perfect Mate Oct 03, 2019
    Show notes

When we talk about the objective of dating, it is usually in order to find a mate or someone you are most compatible with. Some may say they are not looking, just dating. This may be a conscious decision not to find yourself in a serious situation but really you are still discovering your preferences in a mate finding new things about yourself.
The selection process is multifaceted. You have your criteria that define some general rules on what your preferences are. There is also the act of defining your dating pool or where will you be looking to date. Some prefer the club, some prefer church and the internet seems to be what’s hot in the street.
There are some outside influences as well, we like to call this the “selection committee” These are the people you trust the most to help discern between what’s good at the moment vs. what’s good for you long term. This committee is mostly made up of immediate family, close friends and relatives, and maybe even a wise coworker or two. That last one goes double for you in interoffice exchanges.
While these cover some basics of selection there are many factors that will determine your success in the ability to find great mate versus spinning your wheels in the dating cycle. Clearly defining your happiness is important before you can ever make anyone else happy. Other factors include limiting your pool too narrow by way of your criteria being too complicated or hard to obtain.
