    Is your baby ready to start solid foods but you’re feeling overwhelmed or confused about baby-led weaning? Babies can eat so many more foods than we give them credit for and you don’t have to force-feed or spoon-feed to get them to eat real food!

    I’m Katie Ferraro, Registered Dietitian specializing in infant feeding and baby-led weaning. I’m a college nutrition professor and mom of 7, and my goal is to help you start solid foods safely using baby-led weaning.

    On this podcast I share practical tips on safe food preparation and starting solid foods, as well as in-depth interviews with other feeding experts. Listen to learn how you can get your baby to safely enjoy real food so that you can start enjoying mealtimes again too!

    Portion Distortion: Why Aren't There Set Portion Sizes for Baby-Led Weaning? Mar 28, 2022

Reality is that there is no clear or definitive guideline to what an exact portion size of food should look like for a baby. In this episode I will share some ideas of how much a baby might eat but also share some tips about things you can do to help your baby learn how to eat. At the end of the day there are really no rules or guidelines for portion sizes during baby-led weaning.

    BLW Teething Tweaks: What Changes Do I Make When My Baby is Teething? Mar 21, 2022

    #213: Do I have to wait until my baby has teeth to offer solids? Nope!..And although teething is often a time when babies begin to experience a change, it is really not necessary to make any drastic adjustments to solid foods during the teething process. In this episode I discuss the idea that having teeth is not a prerequisite for introducing solids and share some recommendations for teething babies who are ready to begin their baby-led weaning journey!

    #210: What is intuitive eating? And how can I raise my baby to be an intuitive eater? Finding a balance between offering a variety of foods and the necessary nutrition is an important key to creating a healthy relationship between a baby and food.

    This is a two-part interview series with the co-authors of the book ‘How to Raise an Intuitive Eater: Raising the Next Generation with Food and Body Confidence’. In this episode co-author and registered dietitian Sumner Brooks, MPH, RDN, CEDRD defines what intuitive eating is and how infants are naturally born as intuitive eaters. She also discusses the importance of allowing our babies to develop their curiosity for trying new foods through feeling, touching, and experiencing food without the need to “push” them to do so.
