Working Parents: Weekend Routine for Trying New Foods Jul 24, 2023
    Show notes

#353: What if you don’t have time to try new foods with your baby during the week? In this episode I’m sharing a weekend routine for working parents who are doing baby-led weaning.

While it is perfectly safe to offer your baby 1 (or more) new food each day, in households with working parents, that might not be realistic. If the weekend is the only time for you to get new foods in, your baby can still safely learn to eat a wide variety of foods.

Here are some of the exact weekend feeding schedules that working families can use to still help their babies eat 5 (or more) new foods each week with baby-led weaning.

Baby Brain Health: How Does the Weaning Diet Impact Baby's Brain with Tommy Wood, BM, BCh, PhD Jul 13, 2023
    Show notes

#350: Do you ever look at your baby and think, “I wonder what is going on inside of your brain right now?” Well my guest today knows a LOT about baby’s brains…and in particular how the maternal diet and infant weaning diet affects baby’s brain development.

His name is Dr. Tommy Wood and he is a neonatal neuroscientist who specializes in preterm infants and studies their brain development. In this interview we chat about some of the different nutrients you’ve probably heard of, things like iron and vitamin D and EPA and DHA and the role they play in your baby’s still developing brain.

One thing I learned from this interview is that humans are the only primates who have FAT INFANTS and the role that iron has in brain development as it pertains to the white matter in our brains…I think Dr. Wood has such a wonderful way of synthesizing his very meticulous research into actionable steps that you can use as you’re selecting the foods that you choose - or choose not - to include in your baby’s weaning diet. I hope you enjoy this interview with Dr. Tommy Wood talking about Baby Brain Health and how the weaning diet impacts your baby’s brain.
