On the Friday August 30 edition of BangTheBook Radio, host Adam Burke was joined by Brent, the head risk manager at DSI Sportsbook, for this week’s version of The Odds Report. Adam and Brent talked about college football sharp money line moves, the Andrew Luck fallout, and when the Week 1 NFL markets will start to move.
The guys had a lot of things to discuss, ranging from why the market moves all at the same time to why line moves vary in size to understanding why a line stops moving in a certain direction. Brent also looked at it from a betting standpoint on how to recognize when the line you want may not be coming. The guys also looked at Andrew Luck’s retirement and what it means for the Colts, the AFC contenders, and the rest of the AFC South. Finally, they looked ahead to NFL Week 1 to see when these lines will start to be on the move.

On the Friday August 30 edition of BangTheBook Radio, host Adam Burke did the first segment by himself with a look at his participation in the Westgate SuperContest, Circa Million, and Golden Nugget Ultimate Football Challenge. Adam discussed his betting strategies for these three contests and also took a look at the college football betting market for Week 1.
Strategy plays a big role in these contests, but the first part of the year is all about trying to pick winners and be set up for success. Adam talked about his NFL thoughts for the contests and also about why the Golden Nugget may set up a bit better. He also talked about line moves in the college football betting market for Week 1 to explain to listeners what they want to look for and how to interpret these moves.

Adam had Brad for more than an hour today to talk NFL Preseason Week 4 and College Football Week 1 with a bevy of breakdowns on top games and line movements.
Adam and Brad took a quick look at some NFL coaching trends for Week 4 of the Preseason before focusing all their attention on college football. The guys discussed a variety of games, including Ole Miss vs. Memphis, South Carolina vs. North Carolina, Duke vs. Alabama, Oregon vs. Auburn, Fresno State vs. USC, Houston vs. Oklahoma, and Notre Dame vs. Louisville, to go along with the much anticipated Wagner vs. UConn matchup.

The guys talked about the Andrew Luck retirement, Week 4 of the Preseason, and derivative betting for Week 1 in college football.
Wes’s hometown team is the Indianapolis Colts, so he had a lot of thoughts on what still remains for the Colts in a post-Andrew Luck world. The guys also took a look at Week 4 of the preseason to attempt to find any betting value on the card. Finally, Week 1 should present some good opportunities in the derivative markets for college football, so that was a good way to finish out the show.

The guys took a long look at college football on today’s segment, with thoughts on Bryan’s season prep and the stats that matter to him plus Week 1 action.
Bryan has always been an expert in the MAC, so we took his season prep work and applied it to that conference to see if there are any underrated or overrated teams in the market. The guys also broke down Kent State vs. Arizona State on Thursday and then Toledo vs. Kentucky and Eastern Michigan vs. Coastal Carolina on Saturday.

Most of the segment was dedicated to Week 1, with thoughts on Texas State vs. Texas A&M, Wisconsin vs. USF, Colorado State vs. Colorado, and Oklahoma State vs. Oregon State.

After a quick chat about Andrew Luck and the betting impacts of his retirement, if was all college football, as the guys hit a number of Week 1 games and futures.
You simply have to talk about the stunning and shocking Andrew Luck announcement on a betting podcast, so the guys did that to open the show. Then they shifted gears to college football, with a recap of the weekend, some notes on making adjustments, and then a look at some futures based on Kyle’s likes and dislikes with coordinators. Several games were discussed with UCLA vs. Cincinnati, FIU vs. Tulane, BYU vs. Utah, Utah State vs. Wake Forest, Purdue vs. Nevada.
