Author Explores The Demise of Elvis Presley Sep 02, 2021

Elvis Presley’s downward spiral, punctuated by health problems routinely written off as the consequences of addiction, may have actually been triggered by an event that happened generations before he was even born: Elvis’s maternal grandparents were first cousins.
“I think that even if he wasn’t ‘Elvis Presley,’ he would have had severe health problems and probably an early death,” said historian and author Sally Hoedel.
Elvis: Destined to Die Young is Hoedel’s exhaustively researched investigation into the real reasons why the world lost Elvis Presley on August 16, 1977, when he was only 42.
Hoedel offers factual and scientific data, plus never-before-published information she gained by interviewing people who personally knew Elvis, to dive deep into his struggles with multiple chronic health conditions. She thoroughly examines Elvis Presley — devoted son, husband, father and friend — while plowing through the negative hype and sensationalism surrounding the man. Elvis’s health problems are intertwined with his life story, and for the first time, it is revealed that he suffered from disease in 9 of 11 bodily systems. Five of those disease processes, Hoedel finds, were present from birth. She expertly puts all of this into historical context, pointing out differences in medical treatments and protocols for the time.
Hoedel’s extensive research provides answers to lingering questions about his death and dispels the long-held theory that abuse of prescription drugs is what killed Elvis. Readers may be surprised to learn that, based on Elvis Presley’s family history and the genes he was dealt, nothing could have saved the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. The result is a totally fresh, unique, humanizing approach to Elvis.
“I wrote this book because I genuinely believe this is a story that Elvis would want known,” Hoedel said. “He needed to be a strong American male while he was alive, and he hid his pain and his body’s weaknesses. Yet, he always knew he was just like everyone else: human. I believe he would be OK with everyone now understanding just how human he was. He struggled but he tried. My only hope for this labor of love is that it makes someone stop and think about Elvis just a little bit differently. He deserves it.”
Author Sally A. Hoedel, a lifelong Elvis fan and historian, has a journalism degree from Michigan State University and is co-owner of Character Development and Leadership, a curriculum business. She lives in Northern Michigan with her husband and their four daughters.

Atlanta Earthwork Installation to Honor NASA Astronaut Stephanie Wilson Aug 31, 2021

A 4,800 square-foot natural art exhibit is being created to commemorate International Day of the Girl to raise awareness about NASA’s Artemis Program and inspire women and girls through the high-profile STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) exhibit. The City of Atlanta approved the permit June 17, 2021 for the Earthwork installation in downtown Woodruff Park, Atlanta, Georgia.
From October 11-22, the Earthwork will be displayed as an eco-friendly grass artwork featuring active NASA astronaut Stephanie Wilson. Her 42 days in space are the most of any female African American astronaut. The intent of the art exhibit is to inspire women and girls, and especially people of color, to aim higher and reach for more advantageous goals.
The project was conceived by Christina Korp, President of Purpose Entertainment and artist Stan Herd of Stan Herd Earthworks working in partnership with Atlanta Parks Department, Downtown Atlanta, the Hines Family Foundation, Mercer University STEM Education Innovation Lab, Atlanta International School and former NASA astronaut Nicole Stott’s Space for Art Foundation.
The Artemis Program is a United States-led international human spaceflight program launched in
2017 with the primary goal of returning humans to the Moon in 2024.
During the Artemis program, NASA will land the first woman and first person of color on the Moon, using
innovative technologies to explore more of the lunar surface than ever before. NASA will
collaborate with our commercial and international partners and establish sustainable exploration
for the first time. So far, eight countries along with the US have signed the Artemis Accords, an
international agreement between governments participating in the Artemis Program.
An informative and interactive website for the Earthwork, in production now, will allow visitors to learn more about astronaut Stephanie Wilson as well as the Artemis Program and space opportunities for women and girls.
“The Apollo missions including the first Moon landing inspired a generation and spurred on innovation. It ignited a spark in those kids to aim high for their dreams. Those kids turned into adults who are changing the world today,” said Purpose Entertainment President, Christina Korp. “We want to light the spark in today’s generation to empower them to change the world tomorrow, especially women and girls of color who maybe haven’t felt there was room for them in future space activities. Stephanie Wilson is living proof that their dreams can become a reality.”
The installation is a signature event in Atlanta, Georgia marking International Day of the Girl, a yearly commemoration celebrated all over the world.
Christina Korp is President of Purpose Entertainment and is the former manager of astronaut Buzz Aldrin, one of the first men to walk on the Moon along with Neil Armstrong on Apollo 11. She is a space marketer and influencer who has an extensive background in producing space themed events and exhibitions. Korp produced the last five major galas at Kennedy Space Center celebrating Apollo 11 including the Apollo 50th Gala. She also conceptualized and produced The People’s Moon project, which resides as a permanent exhibit at Kennedy Space Center. Stan Herd, a native of Kansas, has been active in film, music and the arts in America’s heartland for over 40 years. He began creating large scale “Earthworks,” giant eco-friendly artworks made of organic materials, gaining recognition in National Geographic and Smithsonian Magazine.

Maine Company Pushes Kelp Mainstream Aug 30, 2021

Ocean’s Balance, an award-winning innovator of edible seaweed products, announced today that it is expanding its product line with the introduction of gluten free, sugar-free, plant-based pasta sauces. Made with sustainably farmed and harvested kelp from the Gulf of Maine, the premium sauces are available in traditional marinara and spicy arrabbiata flavors.

Seaweed consumption continues to increase in the U.S. thanks to its well-publicized use by celebrity chefs, its depth of flavor (known as umami), its distinct nutritional benefits, and its powerful sustainability story.

Earth Friend & Nutrient Rich Seaweed
Seaweed is a uniquely sustainable alternative to traditional vegetables and proteins because it is a zero-input crop that requires no fresh water, no arable land, and no fertilizers to grow. Seaweed can play a vital role in fighting climate change by sequestering carbon emissions and regenerating marine ecosystems. Ocean’s Balance works with seaweed farmers and lobsterwomen along the Coast of Maine to grow and harvest abundant amounts of the densely nutritional food. By adding farm-raised kelp that is rope grown in the Gulf of Maine, Ocean’s Balance is uniquely positioned to offer foods that are sustainably produced and nutritionally rich.

With summer coming to an end, we can't think of a better way to celebrate than by pouring out a cold one in a new city. 🍻
Move.org is on a quest to see which beer capitals of the US live up to the hype, and to do so we're hiring a Chief Beer Baron to drink their way around one of the nation's beer capitals.
The Beer Baron will get paid to drink (responsibly) on the job and will receive *$2,000 to cover their beer tab + $1,000 reimbursed for travel costs.* Plus, if they fall in love with the city we'll give them an additional $500 to turn this beer-cation into a staycation and move a certified beer-lover to the beer capital they reviewed.
What: We’re hiring a Chief Beer Baron to sample breweries in one of the beer capitals of the U.S. After responsibly enjoying drinks on us in one of America’s beer capitals, we’ll ask you for a review of your sampled city to see if it hits all the high notes or if it falls flat.
What you get if you’re hired: The recipient will get $2,000 to drink beer on our tab and will be reimbursed $1,000 to cover travel costs. Plus if the vibe is right, we’ll give this person an additional $500 to help them move to their chosen beer location.
