Present Tense (with Tom Smyth) Jun 24, 2023

Show notes

Inspired by Orange County's return to form, Sarah runs to the farmer's market to pick up nine lemons and a bowl. She places them where Dr. Moon most approves - the cloffice, natch! - where she's joined by another point of healing energy - and Bravoholic analysis - writer Tom Smyth. They discuss the difficulty navigating and connecting to Marlo v. Kandi amidst a difference in how the storyline engages with time, Tamra's orientation for Jen (and a wink to the audience about what she's prepared to give), and seeing RHONY: New Beginnings through a glass half full or empty perspective (Bethenny says it must include Skinnygirl). Shannon reminds Sarah of a certain Pixar character in a way that truly makes her feel Up about the future ahead for RHOC - it's Andy's Girls, Episode 426!

Atlanta and Ariana's Main Girl Energy (with Glamour's Perrie Samotin) Jun 20, 2023

Show notes

Life is Gucci, you guys. So Gucci, and other youthful words stuff. After watching a *solid* episode - meaningful, even - of RHOA, Sarah is inspired to discuss some questions around Kenya's embryo decision, Marlo's optimistic work on de-escalating, and why Shereé is giving Kyle Richards energy (a compliment! Truly!). She then sits down with Perrie Samotin (Glamour's digital director and host of the podcast "What I Wore When" to discuss Perrie's cover story on Vanderpump Rules star Ariana Madix, the ways that selection is showing mainstream media about reality TV's influence and value, critiques that Raquel's birth mother is sharing about Ariana (but not Tom), and the gender politics around a woman's rage. Sarah's pumped for an episode celebrating RHOA and VPR, so send it to Darrell, stat - it's Andy's Girls, Episode 425!

Oh, Brother (with Damian Bellino) Jun 17, 2023

Show notes

Sarah receives a RHONJ-style spoof call, which she immediately answers (maybe it's from WWHL and she's being asked to bartend for Shan). She's met with a moment of breathy silence, before being asked if she wants to buy a stockpile of Fabellini pizza ovens - because who needs a margarita pizza when you can have bellini instead. She politely declines the opportunity, for a different slice of heaven - a 900-hour deep dive with OG of the AG Damian Bellino (writer, producer, and cohost of the podcast "You Might Know Her From.") They settle into the cloffice for a zesty and spirited deep dive of how Pump Rules and RHONJ might adapt to cast members refusing to film with each other, the ways conversation about Teresa often infantilizes her (and why agency is key), and the level of reality vs reality tv behind Marlo v. Kandi and Shan v. Tamra. This episode covers the Housewives triple crown (talking about all three shows currently on tv), and it's good as gold - and it's Andy's Girls, Episode 424!

Pay Attention, Please: A Meditation on the RHONJ Reunion Jun 15, 2023

Show notes

Namaste, bitches. After a wildly cringe third part of the RHONJ finale, Sarah girds her loins for Franklin Lakes' future ahead. The only way to process what happened is to discuss, so Sarah unpacks the reasons the battle between Melissa and Tre doesn't really involve Melissa herself, why John Fuda is America's Sweetheart (apologies to Evan), Luis' concerning activation and why his history seems to align with the current chaos, the true meaning underneath Dolores' STFU response, and why uncertainty around Luis is inhibiting the cast. And yes, a meditative sound bath to restore love and light to RHONJ (and us). Dolores is from Patterson, and you won't forget this deep dive - it's Andy's Girls, Episode 423!

Imitation Game (with Dylan Hafer) Jun 13, 2023

Show notes

Oh happy day, oh happy day-yyy! Sarah awakes fresh as a daisy, because her favorite flower is in bloom (she's talking about Shan). Thrilled at the opportunity to see fresh confessional looks and seasonal giggles, with equal parts curiosity and inspo about Pump Rules and RHONJ, she invites one of her Bravoholic BFFs over to the cloff to mention it all (someone who braved an orange NYC to schlep to the cloffice, bless him): Dylan Hafer (director of social for entertainment at Betches Media, host of the podcast Mention It All, and creator of @BravoByBetches). They discuss what Sandoval's response to a lack of control has revealed about his internal life, the complicated dynamics of which truth is believed between Teresa and Melissa, and why Tamra made her triumphant return to OC with more upset towrd Shan than Heather. When life hands you lemons, listen to this episode nine times - it's Andy's Girls, Episode 422!

Once Upon a Time in West Hollywood: A Scandoval Special (with Kiki Monique aka The Talk of Shame, Emily D. Baker, and Bravo Bravo Ducking Bravo) Jun 10, 2023

Show notes

There's Something About Her. And her. And her. And her. After watching the much anticipated Vanderpump Rules reunion finale, Sarah realizes there's one way to work through all of the secrets revealed - with an epic Shan-style Core Four special episode: a powerhouse panel that passes the Bechdel test (one of many Sandoval would fail). Justice is SURved with friends-of Kiki Monique aka The Talk of Shame (professional talker, social media journalist and CEO of deep dives), Emily D. Baker (the internet's go-to legal analyst and host of the podcast "The Emily Show"), and Bravo Bravo Ducking Bravo (Bravo content creator extraordinaire). They discuss Sandoval's love language with Ariana and Raquel (emotional manipulation meets Jerry Maguire), reactions to the "t-shirt" statement currently burned in America's brain, the ways Sandoval and Raquel saw Ariana as a vessel for projection, the complicated connection Raquel made with independence and an affair, responding to critiques around Ariana's successful monetization, and a surprising reason why that final confessional may have occurred. These women are good as gold, so send it to Darrell - it's an Andy's Girls special episode, aka 421!

The Idol: There is no Hidden Immunity on HBOMax (with Dylan Hafer) Jun 09, 2023

Show notes

This is a doozy. Sarah is joined by Dylan Hafer (director of social for entertainment at Betches Media, host of the podcast Mention It All, and creator of @BravoByBetches), to unpack the unfortunate series premiere of "The Idol," on Max (there is no HBO to be found amidst this chaos). They discuss the history of the show's troubled production, the ways Sam Levinson and Abel "The Weekend" Tesfaye rejected the show's original premise - and director - as too driven by a woman's perspective, and the difference in execution between "The Idol's" overhauled storyline and Levinson's hit series "Euphoria."

Scandoval: Endgame Jun 08, 2023

Show notes

Hot off the heels of the Pump Rules reunion finale, Sarah records an urgent care (because we urgently! care!) deep dive of her conversation with Lala at Bravo's NYC viewing party, reaction to the uber-hyped last five minutes of the reunion, thoughts on why she is one of the many women in America who, as Andy predicted, hates Sandoval, and questions about where Raquel goes from here (and if it will be with Tom). There's Something About Her - and it's Andy's Girls, Episode 420! (Don't tell Marg.)

In the Words of Luis Ruelas: Let's Play (A RHONJ Reunion Deep Dive) Jun 07, 2023

Show notes

Equal parts inspired and unnerved by part 2 of the RHONJ reunion, Sarah records an emergency 90-min (LOL) deep dive to unpack RHONJ: a lesson in crime and punishment. Or rather, it's not about the crime, but the coverup. Or rather, what are these dark arts in private investigating, and how do we never sign up? Sarah discusses the differences between assumption and evidence pertaining many allegations of foul play and upset amongst the cast, updates to the release of information about the Melissa cheating rumors that now counteract season-long storylines, the difference between "spoofing" and potential harassment, and why empathy for Teresa can still exist for those who lean more on Melissa/Joe's side (or, ya know, not). All that and computer talk, thanks to friend-of Google dot com - it's Andy's Girls, Episode 419!

Tom Sandoval is the Most Extra (with Kate Aurthur) Jun 06, 2023

Show notes

Extra! Extra! (Sarah's being...extra.) Inspired by one of many long form pieces on Scandoval and Bravo, Sarah puts down her VHS cassette tape of the Carol Burnett Show (to see which draperies best inspired some of VPR's previous reunion looks), and Zooms up another Variety extravaganza, Kate Aurthur (Variety's Editor-at-Large). They settle into the People's People's NYC-LA couch, and discuss the process of pre-writing a Housewife's exit before it's been announced, Kate's conversation with Andy about the Scandoval/future of VPR, whether Alex Baskin regrets his varsity-level hype of the Part 3 reveal (and WTF it could actually be!), the tricky baseline around Sandoval's character, and Raquel's level of 'awareness' on and off camera. The Part 3 Pump Rules reunion reveal is this: it has something to do with something, but this convo is everything - and it's Andy's Girls, Episode 418!
