Michigan State is looking for a new athletic director who is equipped to lead the Spartans in the NIL era. Could that AD be North Carolina’s Bubba Cunningham, who didn’t lead the charge to hire Bill Belichick and who probably isn’t keen on dealing with the Belichick situation now?

Andy and Ari discuss some of the wild details of why Alan Haller’s tenure fell apart in East Lansing.

Later, Nick Roush of Kentucky Sports Radio joins to talk Kentucky Derby. Nick offers tips on who to bet in the Derby and in the undercard races on Saturday.

Nick also breaks down Kentucky football in 2025. Will the Wildcats get back to the style of play that made them consistent winners under Mark Stoops?

Also, Nick is waiting for the apologies from Tennessee fans who got mad when he called Nico Iamaleava an “$8 million volleyball player” last fall.

The Arch Manning Paradox Apr 30, 2025

Show notes

We hosted Andy & Ari On3 LIVE from the Draft in Green Bay last week, and it was a blast. Thanks to Culver’s for bringing us to the Great Wisconsin Tailgate.

(57:32-1:01:27) Wrapping up the Bill Belichick Girlfriend conversation
(1:01:28-1:02:45) Conclusion: Dear Andy & Ari Tomorrow! Andystapleson3@gmail.com

We’re still discussing Andy’s post-spring top 25, and it’s time to have an extended discussion about the team at No. 1. Texas is transitioning to Arch Manning as its starting quarterback, and the expectations are sky-high.

But the discussion around where Quinn Ewers went in the draft has become a broader discussion about Texas and Manning, and Ari is fired up about the Manning bashing that has seeped into the conversation. Andy, meanwhile, is fascinated by the Arch Manning Paradox.

Andy wrote about the SEC and the continuing debate over whether to add a ninth conference game. Now it seems the decision hinges on what the new College Football Playoff format looks like.

North Carolina coach Bill Belichick’s girlfriend Jordon Hudson continues to make news following a weird appearance on CBS Sunday Morning. Who knew the greatest coach in NFL history coming to college football was going to provide so much fodder for TMZ?

(1:03:06-1:13:51) WR Trebor Pena to Penn State
(1:13:52-1:15:33) Conclusion

The NFL draft is in the books, and the Shedeur Sanders story continues to dominate. He finally got picked Saturday by Cleveland in the fifth round, but the weirdest story in the draft took a bizarre turn Sunday when one of the people who prank-called Sanders on Friday night was revealed to be the son of the Falcons’ defensive coordinator.

The draft story that will become a more interesting college football story in December and January is what happened to Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers. He was taken in the seventh round by the Miami Dolphins, meaning he probably would have made far more in NIL money by transferring and playing another season of college football.

Trebor Pena has decided he will be going to Penn State from Syracuse. Is this James Franklin's missing piece for the Nittany Lions?

(43:33-55:37) House v NCAA settlement update
(55:38-1:02:26) Conclusion

It’s Draft day, and Andy and Ari are live in Green Bay!

We know who is going first (Miami QB Cam Ward) and we’re pretty sure who is going second (Colorado WR/CB Travis Hunter), but what happens after that is anyone’s guess.

How many QBs will go in the first round? The sports books have set the total at 2.5. Does that mean Ward, Shedeur Sanders and someone else? Could Louisville’s Tyler Shough sneak in?

Plus, Andy has some advice for the teams considering receivers: Don’t overthink it. Arizona’s Tetairoa McMillan was the only weapon on a bad team and still put up huge numbers.

We also have quite a bit of college football news to discuss. The collective at Arkansas wants to collect a reported $200,000 from Madden Iamaleava after the freshman quarterback left last week to join his older brother Nico at UCLA.

Meanwhile, the federal judge overseeing the House v. NCAA case issued an order Wednesday saying she’d blow up the proposed settlement if the NCAA doesn’t phase in roster caps to keep athletes from getting cut from their teams because of the settlement.

Continuing, we dive deep into the position groups that will take over this year's draft and discuss Quinn Ewers out of Texas.

To close, we look at the best QB & WR duos in the game with a few years of eligibility left.

Finally, a fan asked about Indiana's 2025 outlook. Will the Hoosiers make it back to the CFP?

(1:04:15-1:04:39) Conclusion: Dear Andy & Ari tomorrow

Andy and Ari unpack the quarterback swap — which included a brother to be named later — that ends the player acquisition portion of the Nico Iamaleava saga. Joey Aguilar left UCLA on Monday and committed to Tennessee by Monday evening. He’ll compete to replace Iamaleava, who left Tennessee for UCLA and took the job Aguilar had hoped to have. Meanwhile, Nico Iamaleava’s younger brother Madden left Arkansas and will transfer to UCLA, the school he flipped away from on National Signing Day.

Elsewhere in the transfer portal, former Syracuse receiver Trebor Pena is considering Penn State. This would be a huge pickup for the Nittany Lions, but they’ll have to fight off Miami to get him.
