With QB Joey Aguilar headed from UCLA to Tennessee, it appears we have the first (unofficial) transfer portal trade in college football history. Former Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava announced his transfer to UCLA on Sunday. Aguilar, who had come to UCLA this offseason after two years as Appalachian State’s starter, suddenly found himself without a job.

On Monday evening, Aguilar committed to Tennessee.

The 30 for 30 just writes itself.

Colorado offensive tackle Jordan Seaton voiced his frustration last week with the transfer portal after the Buffaloes lost their starting center. Ari thinks someone playing for Colorado doesn’t need to complain about the portal. Andy thinks Seaton has every right.

(1:13:17-1:13:58) Conclusion

It's Friday, and yes, Nico Watch still continues. While all signs point towards UCLA for the former Tennessee quarterback, there has yet to be anything official announced.

Meanwhile, the quarterback room for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish got a little smaller on Thursday, as veteran Steve Angeli enters the portal. Is this a potential option for Tennessee in 2025, or will Angeli look to go to the group of 5?

It's also a Dear Andy & Ari show, and we have some excellent questions from our listeners. First off we take a look at the 2023 QB class which contains Arch Manning, Nico Iamaleava, Sam Leavitt, and Lanorris Sellers. Were the qb rankings of these guys accurate so far? What about the class of 2021 and 2022?

More questions revolve around Nico, but one from an Oklahoma fan comes in on Jim Nagy: Is he worth the hype?

Later, the guys do a deep dive into North Carolina's situation on the field while discussing the news regarding Bill Belichick and his girlfriend.

To wrap up, we receive a gift from Producer River's high school coach: his hudl tape. We close out the show by breaking down some of River's best plays, and others that are definitely illegal these days.

The spring transfer portal has been open a day, and quarterback Nico Iamaleava remains the biggest conversation. He’s reportedly in talks with UCLA, but it doesn’t seem like the deal is done yet. Meanwhile, UCLA QB — and former Appalachian State QB — Joey Aguilar is waiting to find out what happens with Nico.

Pete Nakos of On3 joins Andy and Ari to break down that story as well as several other intriguing players hitting the portal.

North Carolina lost edge rusher Beau Atkinson, who was the Tar Heels’ most productive returning player.

Wisconsin lost tight end Tanner Koziol, who had transferred earlier this offseason from Ball State.

Boise State lost linebacker Andrew Simpson

Syracuse lost leading returning receiver Trebor Pena.

Syracuse coach Fran Brown broke down what happened with Pena on the Cuse Sports Talk show, leading to a hilarious rant about NIL deals.

(56:07-1:02:53) Conclusion: 3 jobs

The transfer portal is OPEN FOR BUSINESS. Will we see any starting QBs jump in as a Nico Iamaleava domino effect, or will this portal cycle be relatively calm?

Oklahoma has been busy, signing Cal transfer RB Jaydn Ott and Stanford grad transfer offensive lineman Jake Maikkula on Tuesday.

Later, Andy and Ari debate their boss’s suggestion that Tennessee take Nico back (with many conditions, of course).

Plus, Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman visited the Hard Count. Andy and Ari discuss what he said about his quarterback competition.

(1:04:17-1:07:22) Conclusion: Spring Portal opens tomorrow

The spring transfer portal opens Wednesday, but the names are already starting to trickle in.

The biggest name, of course, is former Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava. It’s still unclear where he will land, but it’s becoming increasingly likely that he won’t be making a parallel move.

On Monday night, Cal tailback Jaydn Ott entered the portal. Meanwhile, a trio of Division II offensive linemen from the same team are picking up interest.

On3’s Pete Nakos joins Andy and Ari to break it all down.

(53:44-1:02:33) Notre Dame's QB Battle Update
(1:02:34-1:07:45) Conclusion: Nico and Belichick?

Now that quarterback Nico Iamaleava has left Tennessee, where might the former five-star recruit land? Some big-name schools got tossed around last week, but are any of them realistic? Is it possible Team Nico is still demanding too much money?

The flip side of that is Tennessee’s next move. Volunteers coach Josh Heupel said during the spring game he was excited to see the two scholarship QBs on Tennessee’s roster. But will the Vols reach into the portal to take another?

Meanwhile, there were spring games Saturday at major programs across the country. Ohio State, Notre Dame, Georgia, Alabama and Florida all wrapped spring practice.

Perhaps the biggest news came from Gainesville, where Florida coach Billy Napier said QB D.J. Lagway will be throwing again in a few weeks.
