The college football players we're not talking about ENOUGH May 26, 2025
    Show notes

The conversation around the 2025 college football season has centered on a few players — mostly new starting quarterbacks — but there are plenty of potentially great players we’re not talking about.

    Today, they’re in the spotlight.
    (0:00-0:59) Intro
(1:00-9:22) Players we're not talking about: Ryan Wingo, Cam Coleman
    (9:23-11:50) Story Time
(11:51-17:23) Texas A&M QB Marcel Reed
(17:24-24:36) How good can Oregon be this year?
(24:37-31:38) Miami's Outlook, Rueben Bain Jr.
    (31:39-35:10) Jadan Baugh at Florida
    (35:11-36:18) Nic Anderson, LSU
(36:19-39:42) Max Klare at Ohio State
(39:43-40:55) Where does JP Pickles play?
    (40:56-44:03) Dylan Raiola at Nebraska
(44:04-45:43) Who do we talk about the most?
    (45:44-46:11) Conclusion: Happy Memorial Day!

Ari believes Auburn receiver Cam Coleman could be a breakout star. He also thinks Miami edge rusher Rueben Bain could be a force now that he’s fully healthy.

Andy thinks Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed has been lost in the shuffle with all the talk about new starting QBs in the SEC. Reed will be the leader of Team Chaos, so he could play a very important role this season.

Andy and Ari agree that Oregon safety Dillon Thieneman is a huge key to the Ducks’ portal reload.

Ari talked to Matt Rhule after Ari's column enraged the entire state of Nebraska May 22, 2025
    Show notes

Ari once again has enraged the state of Nebraska, this time with a column criticizing Nebraska coach Matt Rhule’s stance on the College Football Playoff.

    (0:00-0:43) Intro
(0:44-22:30) Ari and the Nebraska Cornhuskers
(22:31-24:48) Watch us on YouTube, Wrapping up Nebraska
(24:49-41:51) CFP to adopt Straight-Seeding model
(41:52-43:09) BYU QB Jake Retzlaff accused of sexual assault
(43:10-1:01:53) Dear Andy & Ari: Accumulating top talent in the NIL Era
(1:01:54-1:05:34) The Confidence in Arch Manning at Texas
(1:05:35-1:09:00) Revisiting Ari's take on Alabama and Georgia
(1:09:01-1:12:42) Wisconsin to play Notre Dame in Lambeau Field in 2026
    (1:12:43-1:13:49) Conclusion

After a joke Rhule made about a 40-team playoff in an interview with HuskerOnline began circulating Wednesday, Ari wrote a column critical of Rhule’s previously stated stance that it wasn’t worth playing difficult non-conference games in the current system. To put it more bluntly, Ari called that attitude “soft.”

Rhule and pretty much everyone else in Nebraska took offense, and it culminated in a conversation between Rhule and Ari that hopefully cleared the air.

In other news, Ross Dellenger of Yahoo! reports that conference commissioners are expected to approve straight seeding for the 2025 playoff in a conference call Thursday.

BYU quarterback Jake Retzlaff has been accused of sexual assault in a civil lawsuit.

It’s also a Dear Andy/Dear Ari show, and you sent some great questions…

Is Georgia coach Kirby Smart’s philosophy of ensuring the proven players on his team make more than unproven freshmen a sound one?

Texas and Ohio State both lost a lot of drafted players. Is the confidence in Texas reloading based on confidence in Arch Manning?

A Texas-Clemson national title game? Debating Ari's projected College Football Playoff bracket May 21, 2025
    Show notes

Ari has released his projected 2025 College Football Playoff Bracket, and we’ve got some things to argue about.

    (0:00-4:45) Intro: Previewing Ari's Bracket
    (4:46-11:43) Nick Saban's Sports Emmy
(11:44-18:30) Is Bill Belichick engaged to Jordon Hudson?
(18:31-24:40) General overview of Ari's Bracket
(24:41-33:24) SEC getting 4 teams in?
(33:25-53:08) Dissecting the Big Ten in Ari's Field
    (53:09-55:44) ACC's Representation
    (55:45-1:01:46) Group of 5 Bid
    (1:01:47-1:06:32) Conclusion: See you tomorrow!

How did Ari get to the four SEC teams (Texas, LSU, Georgia, Alabama) he included, and which teams did they lose to during the season to create this scenario?

Is Ari trying to Will multiple rematches into existence?

Is he sure only one ACC team will make the CFP?

Would the SEC threaten to boot Tennessee for following its own state law? May 20, 2025
    Show notes

There could be a showdown looming between Tennessee and the SEC.
    (0:00-0:48) Intro
(0:48-19:35) Could SEC threaten Tennessee or Vanderbilt?
(19:36-34:32) Wrapping up the SEC, Tennessee talk
    (34:33-43:23) Notre Dame-USC ending?
    (43:24-47:21) Story Time with Ari
    (47:22-52:21) What's next with Notre Dame-USC
    (52:22-1:00:46) Conclusion: Cotton Bowl Food

Tennessee (the state) passed a law that appears to be insurance in case the House v. NCAA settlement blows up. The SEC and the other power conferences are demanding that their schools abide by the rules created by the settlement. Tennessee (the university) fears those rules may violate federal law and doesn’t want to get sued.

    It’s a standoff!

Plus, is USC about to cancel its football series with Notre Dame? If the series dies, would it be one of the softest moves in college football history?

Does Las Vegas expect MORE from Auburn than Hugh Freeze? May 19, 2025
    Show notes

Andy and Ari are breaking down season win totals, and they’re starting with one of the many, many teams at 7.5. Auburn coach Hugh Freeze went on The Next Round Live last week and suggested Auburn merely needed to make a bowl game to have a successful season. That rubbed a lot of Auburn fans the wrong way.
    (0:00-1:03) Intro: Win Totals
    (1:04-18:05) Auburn's Win Total: 7.5
(18:06-24:54) Wrapping up Hugh Freeze, Auburn
    (24:55-28:46) Utah's Win Total: 7.5
    (28:47-35:13) Big 12 Projections
    (35:14-46:18) Illinois' Win Total: 7.5
(46:19-50:35) Wake Forest Win Total at 4.5
    (50:36-51:51) SEC Win Totals
    (51:52-1:01:21) LSU's Win Total: 8.5
    (1:01:22-1:02:03) Wrapping up Win Totals
    (1:02:04-1:09:20) Previewing tomorrow's show

So what should Auburn expect? Is it eight wins or more?

Andy and Ari also discuss win totals at Nebraska, Illinois, South Carolina, Utah and more.
