In this episode, we talk with Rena about her experience working in Sports Physical Therapy and the clinic she co-founded, Match Fit Performance.
Dr. Rena Eleázar is a licensed physical therapist, board-certified clinical specialist in sports physical therapy, certified strength and conditioning coach, weightlifting coach, and co-founder of Match Fit Performance.
Through her work as a physical therapist and strength and conditioning coach, she has helped hundreds of athletes overcome painful injuries, return to their sport, and take them to their highest level of performance. She has worked with all levels of athletes, including being a team physical therapist for Gotham Knights Rugby Football Club, New York Empire Ultimate, New York Gridlock Ultimate, and consulting with the Brooklyn Nets and Long Island Nets.
Dr. Rena has been featured on the Keep Moving Forward, The Knowledge Exchange, and The Lion’s Manepodcasts, and her advice has been featured on Brit + Co. and SELF. She has been a featured speaker at Columbia University, New York University, and both the California and New York Physical Therapy Associations. Her expert topics are: discussing healthy strength training for female athletes, dispelling myths that are prevalent in the fitness industry, and advocating for women to join the world of sports physical therapy.
Dr. Rena is also a brand ambassador for lululemon, where she motivates the community to sweat, grow, and connect through her favorite form of physical activity: heavy lifting.
Dr. Rena was a collegiate swimmer and is currently a competitive weightlifting athlete. She is a daughter of Filipino immigrants and lives in New York City. When she is not working with clients you can find her training for her next weightlifting meet, walking her rescue pup Odin, or reading and journaling at her favorite dog cafe, Chateau Le Woof in Astoria, Queens.
