    ATOOC: Japan Airlines Collision in Tokyo Jan 02, 2024

    In this episode, we go over to Japan as we just learned about the incident that took place in Tokyo.

    A Japan Airlines Airbus A350 arriving from Sapporo to Tokyo Narita was touching down when the aircraft impacted a Japanese Coast Guard Dash-8 and burst into flames.

    Everyone on board the Japan airlines aircraft was evacuated.

    5 of the 6 occupants of the Coast Guard aircraft suffered fatal injuries. The Captain survived but sustained serious injuries.

    Unfortunately, the audio prior to the incident was low quality so we could not publish it here. The Japan Airlines crew did receive clearance to land from ATC, and red back a confirmation. The Coast Guard aircraft had been instructed to hold short of the runway at intersection C2.

    ATOOC: Broken Blades over New Orleans Dec 27, 2023

    In this episode, we fly down to New Orleans where a Southwest Boeing 737 is taking off, bound for Tampa, Florida.

    Almost immediately after takeoff the pilot radios the tower declaring an emergency.

    The aircraft has suffered a major bird strike which has disabled the left engine.

    The strike was so severe that several blades on the engine were destroyed.

    ATOOC: Tight Approach at SFO Dec 20, 2023

    In this episode, we go to San Francisco International Airport (SFO), where the runway configuration is notorious for presenting pilots with uncomfortable landing situations.

    In this clip, we hear Skywest flight 5592 and United flight 2366 approaching at the same time while maintaining a visual.

    Flight 2366 aborts the landing when it receives a TCAS warning and goes around, only to have another similar simultaneous approach with American Airlines flight 1308.

    ATOOC: Big Bang In Asheville Dec 19, 2023

    In this episode, a private aircraft with two people on board is experiencing engine trouble and radios the tower in Asheville, North Carolina.

    The pilot regains partial power, but notes to the controller that he heard a 'big bang' so asks him to stand by.

    The pilot is is unable to make it to the airport, which results in the pilot making an emergency landing on interstate 26.

    In this episode, a Boeing 737-900 is traveling from LAX to Las Vegas when it radios the tower prior to arrival.

    Delta flight 2580 is experiencing a pressurization problem and is on oxygen.

    The pilot is asking for priority to land in order to get the crew and passengers to safety as soon as possible.

    First, an American Airlines Air bus A321 is arriving at Phoenix from Washington DC, but is experiencing a slat issue.

    The pilot of AA2006, requests the longest runway possible for their landing...

    At the same time, another American flight (AA1038) is arriving with a different emergency and takes priority over flight 2006.

    ATOOC: Smelly Cabin at LGA Dec 14, 2023

    In this episode, Delta flight 2380 radios the Laguardia tower after takeoff declaring an emergency.

    The aircraft, bound for New Orleans is requesting a return to LGA because the pilot is reporting fumes in the cockpit.

    Upon landing, the pilot determines the source of the fumes as emergency crews are dispatched.

    In this episode, an aircraft radios the tower at Phoenix Mesa Gateway (IWA) with a problem.

    The cowling has been torn off the plane and has struck the windshield, cracking it.

    The pilot declares an emergency and assistance is deployed as he arrives.

    ATOOC: No Visibility on the Frontier Dec 11, 2023

    In this episode, Frontier airlines flight 3918 is coming in to Long Island MacArthur airport, and the conditions aren't exactly ideal.

    The pilot is experiencing almost zero visibility as he plans for arrival.

    You will hear him in the recording discussing alternate plans if the situation is untenable.

    To top it off, the tower is closed while he attempts to navigate to his destination safely.
