Title: The Mini-Biography of Babak Vosoughi (Designer Profile)
BABAK VOSOUGHI
“You need to be totally aggressive in pursuing any goal you pick up in your life if you ever
want to stand a chance of succeeding”, reflects Babak Vosoughi on his approach to his
work and personal life.
Spending his youth in Iran, Germany and the United States in somewhat uncertain and
challenging circumstances, Vosoughi developed a passion for creating ‘things’ from
‘nothing’. After a short spell on the stages of the fashion world in Milan, he moved back to
Los Angeles where he started to work on designing garments. The self-taught designer
quickly became a hot favourite among the artists’ communities in California and beyond.
Together with his friends at the time, he launched HISTORY, a fashion label that sold in
over 120 stores worldwide. He then launched his own label, Modern Prophecy which also
attracted great attention globally. Moving on from these two labels, Babak Vosoughi
concentrated on working on his eponymous brand which to this date - having gained a
loyal customer base internationally including household names from the sport and music
industries, he devotes his time to.
In 2015 he moved to his native Iran where he established UNITI, a new streetwear brand
with a core avant-garde DNA to it. With UNITI, Babak Vosoughi continues to express
darkness and aggression which he believes are the driving force behind any success that
one achieves in life. Resisting to work in a well-defined or purposefully structured
environment, he relies on his instincts to create things from nothing – often drawing
inspiration from music, art, modern architecture and the urban landscape.
“Success in life comes when you refuse to give up - with goals so strong that
obstacles, failure and loss only act as motivation” Babak Vosoughi, Iranian Designer raised in Los Angeles known for his high end leather looks has successfully launched several clothing lines since 2002 which have been featured in Rolling Stone Magazine and worn by A list celebrities. One of his lines is BV (Babak Vosoughi), which is designed and manufactured in Los Angeles, CA. Babak’s designs have fashion enthusiasts and A list celebrities rushing to high-end boutiques to get this one of a kind look with a mix of leathers and high end fabrics combining a edgy avant-garde street wear look.
The story behind his latest line UNITI started with a vision to bring a clothing line that would bring more visibility to the rising fashion world in Iran. A chic street wear that is not only avant-garde and exclusive, but affordable to the mass population. The vision started with a few chain stores in Iran to now grow this line internationally currently selling in Dubai and London. The vision is big for this growing brand who has been featured internationally in VOGUE Arabia, The Cultural Connect, The National, Fashion Network and LA Direct.
