Elevated by the uplifting musical performances (with sinfully delicious handclaps), this movie almost made us want to go to church. Almost. But how does it hold up today, in the year of our lord?

With the world gone crazy we escape into a good story with STRANGER THAN FICTION! 417- 12 MONKEYS Mar 18, 2020

Show notes

The world has been ravaged by a deadly virus and humanity forced from the surface of the Earth. Since those things also happen in 12 MONKEYS, it seems like an appropriate moment to revisit Terry Gilliam's 1995 sci-fi drama. Based on Chris Marker's La Jetée, 12 Monkeys tells the story of a man who is sent back in time to get information on the plague that wiped out mankind. Starring Bruce Willis, Madelaine Stowe and Brad Pitt, this movie fascinated us when we were younger, but how does it hold up today?

Also starring Mercedes Ruehl, F. Murray Abraham, Charles Dance and hey isn't that Tina Turner?

This movie transported us to a magical place when we were younger, but how does it hold up now?

Show notes

Polish your dermal piercings, this week we suspend ourselves in THE CELL! Starring Jennifer (J.Lo) Lopez, and is there really anything else that you need to know? Actually, there is because this movie is nuts. Directed by Tarsem Singh and starring Vinces D'Onofrio and Vaughn, this movie is a visually resplendent thriller with a dark beating heart, soaring on the wings of a sparrow. Also featuring Dylan Baker and Dean Norris, who it wouldn't be a sci-fi thriller without, this fever dream of a film confused and astounded us when we were younger, but how does it hold up now?
