After a bit of a break, Jack and Alex return to discuss Kelly Reichardt's 2020 movie about one beautiful cow, two great friends, and a whole lot of tasty, oily cakes. ALSO, an announcement that we'll be transitioning towards a movie podcast not so weighed down by hipster bullshit. ZOOTED OFF COWS!

MIDSOMMAR (DIRECTOR'S CUT) Dec 11, 2020

Show notes

Jack and Alex meet up once again to discuss the MIDSOMMAR director's cut, almost a full half an hour longer longer than the theatrical release, presented on a really beautiful 4k release from A24 themselves. We really break down all the differences in the two cuts as well as fully diving into the plot itself and all of the Ari Aster knowledge we've gained since our first episode. Take your hallucinogens now and you'll really be peaking when we're getting into the meat of things....

The self-described "Safdie Brothers of Podcasting," Jack and Alex break this thing down in ways that we were simply not confident enough to do around launch! Hear some interesting Arno takes, breakdowns of different characters from NYC, and much much more!

OCEAN'S EIGHT (SPECIAL Ocean's Two Series) Nov 27, 2020

Show notes

Jack and Alex round out their series discussing the Ocean's franchise with the reboot/sequel that puts its sights on the never-before-mentioned sister of Clooney's character and a whole new squad of women and their fashion based heist. Listen for discussion of everyone involved, some of the interesting resolutions to this plot, and a very succinct, nice way of describing the franchise from Jack to close up the series. Check it out!

OCEAN'S THIRTEEN (SPECIAL Ocean's Two Series) Nov 20, 2020

Show notes

We return once again for another installment of our Ocean's series, in which Jack is discovering this heist franchise for the very first time and uhhhhhh, it's pretty good! Listen to hear thoughts on what this movie gets right, and what parts are just baffling. And Al Pacino!

OCEAN'S TWELVE (SPECIAL Ocean's Two Series) Nov 13, 2020

Show notes

Furthering along Jack's journey in watching these heist movies for the first time, he and Alex have found their way to the incredibly stylish, out-of-country installment with OCEAN'S TWELVE. Listen as we break down the plot, heist movie stakes, and become the millionth podcast to talk about the absolutely batshit Julia Roberts moment! Check it out!

OCEAN'S ELEVEN (SPECIAL Ocean's Two Series) Nov 06, 2020

Show notes

On a recent episode, Jack admitted to never having seen a single movie in the OCEAN'S franchise, so in this incredibly meme-y episode of a podcast that belongs to us, and can therefore encompass whatever fucking movies we want, we're going on a journey with George Clooney and a bunch of other guys just being dudes. Get ready for an interesting start! As detailed throughout the episode, there was a lot of drinking going on throughout the runtime of this so ummmm, sorry.

MANIAC Oct 30, 2020

Show notes

Continuing our short little 'Elijah Wood in horror roles' series, Jack and Alex get back together this week to discuss 2012's MANIAC, a remake of a film from 1980 in which Elijah Wood REALLY shows off his chops. We spend a lot of time talking about slashers as well as the OG version of this one, as well as wagging our fingers at Spectrevision for not having a movie like this in their catalog. (jk....mostly...)((SPECTREVISION PLEASE DROP A SLASHER CHALLENGE))

COME TO DADDY Oct 23, 2020

Show notes

In a hastily prepared, last-minute Halloween miniseries to bridge the gap between the spooky month and our month of nothing but Ocean's discussions, Jack and Alex are here to discuss some Elijah Wood horror roles from outside the Spectrevision brand. Which brings us to COME TO DADDY, a very strange release from earlier this year from director Ant Timpson. Listen as we ride this tonal rollercoaster and discuss the various places this head trip of a movie goes. And be sure to listen next week when we break down the 2012, Elijah Wood starring, MANIAC remake. Check it out!

SPECTREVISION AWARDS Oct 17, 2020

Show notes

Jack and Alex get together this week to rank each and every individual Spectrevision release. Given this only includes 10-11 movies, this isn't a very long list, but it's something we care about deeply. Watch these movies! We want to see a Spectrevision 'Nightmare on Elm Street' movie!!!!!
