    You’re Good. Get Better.

“You’re Good, Get Better” is a show to help us all get better at drums, music, and life.

Your host, Tim Buell, is a professional drummer who lives and works in Nashville, TN. Tim has toured with bands like Gloriana, Jana Kramer, Jerrod Niemann, Cody Fry, Remedy Drive, Chris August, and many others. He also transcribes drum parts for some of the biggest drum companies in the world (Zildjian, Vic Firth, Percussive Arts Society, Stephen’s Drum Shed).

Tim is also passionate about drum and music education and you can find several educational resources at his website (timbuellmusic.com).

#1 Skill Drummers Need: Internal Dynamics Sep 22, 2020
    Show notes

There are SO many drum lessons on the planet - and most I've found are about exercises, fills, technical things that can be written on a page. But what about "groove"? What about "feel"? What about "touch"? These are the topics that REALLY separate a "good" drummer from a "great" drummer.

That is what I want to talk about today - "internal dynamics" and how they can improve your touch and sound on the drums - which will translate to your playing becoming "groovier" and better drummer in almost every way.

Live Drumming vs "The Record" (How to adapt parts when playing live) Aug 04, 2020
    Show notes

So you are tasked with learning 15 songs for an upcoming show. You being learning the tunes and realize some of the songs have electronic drums in them. And a few of the other songs have VERY minimal drum parts in them.

What do you do? How do you take a drum part from "the record" and translate it to a drum part that will work live on-stage?

That is what Nate Onstott and I break down in today's episode.
