Twelve Days of So You Don't Have To 2016: Day 8 Dec 20, 2016
    Show notes

On the eighth day of Christmas, this movie gave to me: Eight missing evil elves, seven tasteless cheap jokes, six pretty puppets. Five very dead strippers! Four random plot points, three damn door locks, two teen stars, and a very dead WASP-y family. Nick visits the cops. Santa has a chase scene. The buffledeer is missing. Missing buffledeer makes Dawn sad because that and the hope of an eventual zamboni are all that's holding her together at this point. Twelve Days of So You Don't Have To 2016: Day 7 Dec 20, 2016

On the seventh day of Christmas, this movie gave to me: Seven tasteless cheap jokes, six pretty puppets. Five very dead strippers! Four random plot points, three damn door locks, two teen stars, and a very dead WASP-y family. In this episode, the seventh day of the Santa's Slay Endurance Challenge, you can almost hear the part where Dawn breaks and beats her head against her keyboard. The jokes are THAT BAD. And they waste a perfectly good deli slicer. How do you waste a deli slicer in a horror movie? Twelve Days of So You Don't Have To 2016: Day 6 Dec 19, 2016

On the sixth day of Christmas, this movie gave to me: Six pretty puppets. Five very dead strippers! Four random plot points, three damn door locks, two teen stars, and a very dead WASP-y family. Santa's Slay goes full Rankin-Bass for a "final" exposition dump and Dawn is elated. Still no zamboni, but hey! Stop-motion buffledeer! It's freaking adorable. Twelve Days of So You Don't Have To 2016: Day 5 Dec 19, 2016
    Show notes

On the fifth day of Christmas, this movie gave to me: Five very dead strippers! Four random plot points, three damn door locks, two teen stars, and a very dead WASP-y family. Santa goes to a strip club. Dawn's about as enthusiastic about it as you think she is. Twelve Days of So You Don't Have To 2016: Day 4 Dec 18, 2016
    Show notes

On the fourth day of Christmas, this movie gave to me: Four random plot points, three damn door locks, two teen stars, and a very dead WASP-y family. Dawn was right! About something! She also avoids making a real obvious Welcome to Night Vale joke and continues to amuse her NSA big brother with her random google searching. Twelve Days of So You Don't Have To 2016: Day 3 Dec 17, 2016
    Show notes

On the third day of Christmas, this movie gave to me: Three damn door locks, two teen stars, and a very dead WASP-y family. In this installment, Dawn's baffled by anachronisms, flummoxed by inconsistent lighting schemes, and completely unsurprised to find that Nick's Grandfather is both quirky and grandfatherly. As most of them are. Twelve Days of So You Don't Have To 2016: Day 2 Dec 17, 2016

On the first day of Christmas, this movie gave to me: a very dead WASP-y family. On the second day of Christmas, this movie gave to me: two teen stars, and a very dead WASP-y family. Join Dawn as she discovers the most Canadian of evil Santa backstories she never knew she always wanted, plays cliche character bingo, and finds an improbably reindeer stand-in. The recap of Santa's Slay continues! Twelve Days of So You Don't Have To 2016: Day 1 Dec 16, 2016
    Show notes

It's that time of year again. That time where Dawn puts aside all expectations of quality, coherency, and decency and takes you on a tour of the worst holiday horror has to offer. This year, may we offer you the 2005 "classic," Santa's Slay. Dawn was equal parts amused, horrified and bored so let's bring on the holiday cheer and answer the question: What if Santa was really, actually, evil? Or, how many bad Christmas jokes can Dawn take before she cracks? Our Patreon is live! Come check us out at www.patreon.com/womenincaskets! Episode 43: P2: The Payoff 2 Dec 01, 2016
    Show notes

Once again, the Women In Caskets lost the Save Horror Halloween Madness much to the chagrin of the Women. The winner: Sean, of Miskatonic Musings. They also tip their hats to the wonderful crews of The Rants Macabre and The Girls In The Back Row, all of whom also beat Dawn and Jen. No, really, your hosts came in dead last. As punishment, Jen and Dawn spend an hour talking about Pizza Dogs, improbable strip clubs, and Hobo Mountain Magic Mike as they try and get through Rob Zombie's H2: Halloween 2. Logic and taste need not apply. In other news, we have launched our Patreon! Visit us at www.patreon.com/womenincaskets for more information. Posts will be going up there soon for sponsors and non-sponsors alike, so check us out. Thanks always to The Shape for the intro/outro music. Episode 42: Survivor Psychosis Nov 14, 2016
    Show notes

Because so much has happened in the US since our last podcast, the Women In Caskets take some time before the regular podcast to get political. We understand that the current state of politics in the US may be triggering for some, so if you'd like to skip it, we discuss the presidential election and what you can do from timestamp 9:10 to 23:24 and again at the end of the podcast after the 1:42:00 mark. We hope you don't skip it as this is very important to us, but we understand. Additional information can be found on our website, in the show notes for this episode. Politics aside, Dawn and Jen had the wonderful opportunity to attend the screening of a locally-produced and filmed movie called The Last Girl Standing. It's a haunting character study of what happens to the final girl after the killing is done. It's got a LOT to say about trauma, coping mechanisms, and failure to deal with your demons and we have a lot to say about that. Also, we have launched our Patreon!
