Episode 12: "The Gift" That Keeps on Giving Aug 16, 2015
    Show notes

Dawn and Jen are very disappointed in The Gift. Why? It's a prime example of their least favorite trope on parade: sexual assault as a plot device. Join the Women In Caskets as they give you a little cinematic cinematic history by looking at some of the biggest rape-centric films they've ever seen, and try to figure out why cinema just can't seem to move on from it. Spoilers for The Gift (now in theaters) and trigger warnings for discussion of sexual assault and it's place in film. Short version: It shouldn't be. NOTE: We incorrectly cited the lead actresses name, Rebecca Hall. We know, and we're sorry. We'll do better next time. Thanks always to The Shape for the intro/outro music. So You Don't Have To: Reeker Aug 04, 2015
    Show notes

A movie so boring, even the editors fell asleep at the wheel. Join Dawn as she bravely attempts to get through this slog of a movie that started like a stoner comedy, took the sex out of sex scenes, and gave the worst example of on-screen CPR that Dawn has ever seen. And those were the mildly interesting parts. Oh! And something about a dude that smells, but you already got that part, right? Listen, like and reblog and let us know what you think! Episode 011: Odd Man Out Aug 03, 2015
    Show notes

Jen and Dawn are joined by special guest Brett Tribe as they begin their journey through Elm Street with the very special, A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge. Pondering everything from dialogue bots, 80's parenting, and the unavoidable subtext of one (gay) teen's journey to becoming a homicidal maniac, the Caskets Crew tries to answer the question: Is this even an Elm Street movie? Note: We apologize for the wonky sound, we were sharing mics and some were closer than others. Thanks always to The Shape for the intro/outro music. Episode 8: This Looks Familiar Jun 18, 2015
    Show notes

Listen as Dawn and Jen try to talk their way through the trials and tribulations of horror remakes. Try to follow along as they fail, descending into fits of incoherent babbling and tears. But it's not all pain and suffering, as they point out a few movies that got it right. But mostly the ones that got it so very wrong. Slasher remakes, foreign film for dummies, desperate cash-grabs galore and more on the Women In Caskets podcast! Episode 7: Horror Couch Potatoes Jun 02, 2015

Jen and Dawn release their inner couch potatoes with a look at the history of horror on television and who's doing it right these days. Special thanks to our Twitter friend Patrick (@Rurouni1029) and Tumblr guru grandmaiswatchinghorror for their most excellent suggestions. If you love old radio and horror on old radio, check out The Horror on RelicRadio.com for re-braodcasts of horror and suspense dramas from the 30's through the 70's (yes, radio dramas were still a thing then). Episode 5: In A Word Or In A Look Apr 30, 2015
    Show notes

Join Jen and Dawn as they present The Babadook (SPOILERS!), their favorite horror movie of last year. In doing so, they make Lilo and Stitch references and reveal their fears of the kitchen. WARNING: This podcast contains discussion of depression and mental illness and references to child abuse. Listen, like and reblog and let us know what you think! So You Don't Have To: No Tell Motel Apr 25, 2015
    Show notes

Once again taking one for the cinematic team, Dawn explores the epic failure that is No Tell Motel and loses a large chunk of her faith in humanity. What she thought was going to be a standard run-of-the-mill supernatural slasher turned out to be something much, much, worse. So how many ways can a movie screw up a standard ghost slasher flick? You'd be surprised. WARNING: This movie and review contains discussion of rape, suicide and miscarriage because this film couldn't be bothered to handle them with any sensitivity and I'll be damned if I let them get away with that. Ugh. Join us for our next regular Women In Caskets podcast: The Babadook Which is a good movie. A really, really, good movie. Listen, like and reblog and let us know what you think!
