    Show notes

Our stories borrow their shape from the Gospel story, and the Gospel story is rife with betrayal. In this world, all of us will experience some form of betrayal. Our ability to process and recover from it will define the health of our families, churches, communities, and hearts. John, Blaine, and Allen kick off this series by describing the three major forms of betrayal, how it differs from ordinary hurt, the erosion of the fabric of trust, and what to do when you're betrayed.

E897 | Things Get Harder the More We Follow God? Oct 12, 2026
    Show notes

When we pursue growth in our relationship with God and others, the expectation is life will get better—not harder. Yet greater maturity often comes with greater opposition. If we believe hard things are bad, then we'll assume either we're blowing it or God is holding out. That's not true. The answer isn't to make a peace treaty with what's coming against you to return to simpler, easier times. In this pivotal message, John and Allen unveil who Threshold Guardians are, what their strategy is, and how God invites us into greater intimacy with him in the challenges we face.

The only place of true peace is one we tend to miss in our rush for answers: simply sitting with Jesus. During the 16th century, Ignatius discovered a way to experience Jesus more deeply as he prayed through the gospel stories. In this live session from a recent Wild at Heart gathering, Blaine Eldredge explains the three parts of the Ignatian Practice—preparation, prayer, and reflection—and then leads the gathering (and you) through one. E889 | Homecoming Replenish - Session 3: The Wilderness Aug 17, 2026
    Show notes

In this live session from a recent Wild at Heart gathering, John Eldredge names what we wish wasn't true: We live in the wilderness, not Eden. This life in the desert wears us down over time, resulting in resignation, cynicism, and isolation. Our hearts cry out, But what about me, God? as we seek relief by arranging for our own personal Eden. It will never work—because the primary purpose of the wilderness is our transformation, which is only possible through God's presence and resources.
