Werewolf Ambulance: A Horror Movie Comedy Podcast

Werewolf Ambulance is a horror movie comedy podcast. Allen and Katie watch horror movies from all eras and of all qualities and then discuss them in a not-so-academic way (just as the name “Werewolf Ambulance” might imply!) and then discuss and rate them. The episodes do contain spoilers, so please watch the films before listening if that bothers you!

Episode 117- Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989) Jan 16, 2017
    Show notes

We hope that all of our EMTs had a lucky and lovely Friday the 13th last week. In honor of this dubious holiday, we picked a dubious movie: the 8th installment in the "Friday the 13th" franchise, "Jason Takes Manhattan." Why? Because we have no self-respect, seemingly. This one's a doozy. Special topics for your consideration include: the fact that this movie is achingly long for no real reason, concerns about how Toby gets around, extraordinarily bad acting, Vancouver! It's definitely Vancouver!, great funeral ideas, inexplicable coincidences and inexplicable toxic waste and the return of Mailbag! If you want to hear your words on a future Mailbag! segment, email us at werewolfambulance@gmail.com or leave us a review on iTunes. We love to hear what you think.

Guys, guys. This movie. Do you actually like it? Does ANYONE actually like it? You can also let us know how you feel at facebook.com/werewolfambulance, on Twitter @werebulance or on Instagram @werewolfambulance.

Did you actually watch this one? If so, we think you deserve something good. Go ahead and treat yourself by signing up for the Parcel of Terror from this week's sponsor, Cryptocurium. Special topics for your consideration include: side effects of seitan consumption, being glad that one is not an adrenaline junkie by nature, tales of Kennywood (for those of you non-Pittsburghers, it's a local amusement park that is greatly beloved by the city's population), how a trailer can really ruin a movie and how senses work.

Have you seen this one? What did you think about it? Let us know at facebook.com/werewolfambulance, on Twitter @werebulance or on Instagram @werewolfambulance. You can also email us for our segment "MAILBAG!" at werewolfambulance@gmail.com.

    Episode 115- House (Hausu) (1977) Jan 02, 2017
    Show notes

Happy New Years, EMTs! We'd love to kick it off with a real doozy of a movie, selected by our very first repeat guest, our pal Carrie. She's picked the 1977 Japanese psychedelic horror film "Hausu." Special topics for your consideration include: the weirdness of cats, not being sure whether something is bananas or just lost in the translation, why the hell Mr. Togo is even in this movie, facts about people such as Howard Hughes and the idea that more movies ought to be written by 11-year-old girls.

Have you seen this one? Did you like it? What would your name be if you were a character in it? Let us know your thoughts at facebook.com/werewolfambulance, on Twitter @werebulance or on Instagram @werewolfambulance. You can also email us for Mailbag! at werewolfambulance@gmail.com. We love to hear from you.

    Episode 114- Gremlins (1984) Dec 26, 2016
    Show notes

In this week's episode, an unprecedented second Christmas-themed episode, we're discussing the 1984 creature/holiday film "Gremlins." Special topics for your consideration include: television shows that we don't know why we watch, where on earth tiny creatures would get tiny adult clothes, a retrospective on the life, times and career of Corey Feldman, Billy's badass mom and Katie hitting the holiday wall and railing about both "It's a Wonderful Life" and "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer."

We hope you had an absolutely lovely holiday season and are ready to move into the new year with us. We're so grateful for all of you. Let us know how you're feeling (subtext: say nice things about us, please please) on facebook.com/werewolfambulance, on Twitter @werebulance or on Instagram @werewolfambulance. Episode 113- Black Christmas (1974) Dec 19, 2016
    Show notes

In our third annual Christmas episode, we're discussing the 1974 Canadian slasher "Black Christmas." Special topics for your consideration include: not knowing any of the words to any actual Christmas carols, refusing to acknowledge an entire floor of the house, being bad at piano, being good at wearing fur coats and calling from iiiinsiiiiide the hoooouuuuse! Oh also, we're eating cookies. Sorry about that; it's the holidays. Happy holidays.

Have you seen this movie? Let us know your thoughts at facebook.com/werewolfambulance, on Twitter @werebulance or on Instagram @werewolfambulance. You can also email us for Mailbag! at werewolfambulance@gmail.com. We love to hear from you.

    Episode 112- Christine (1983) Dec 12, 2016
    Show notes

After wayyy too many weeks spent pondering what was happening in cinema in the early 2000s, we've gone back to the 80s (and Stephen King and John Carpenter) with the boy-meets-car, boy-falls-in-love-with-car, car-ruins-boy's-life classic "Christine." Special topics for your consideration include: very serious discussions of science and philosophy, less serious discussions about mechanophilia, even LESS serious discussions about the series "Friday Night Lights" in which it is revealed we can't remember a damn thing about it, and Allen attempts to explain how drive-in movie theatres work, despite not actually knowing how drive-in movie theatres work. It's a goodie.

Do you like this movie? How do you feel it fits in the Carpenter oeuvre? Let us know in the comments at facebook.com/werewolfambulance, on Twitter @werebulance or on Instagram @werewolfambulance. You can also email us at werewolfambulance@gmail.com; we love to hear from you. While you're on the internet, please please consider going to iTunes and give us a rating/review. Episode 111- Silent Hill (2006) Dec 05, 2016
    Show notes

In this week's episode, we're talking video games (and how little we understand about video games) with the 2006 adaptation "Silent Hill." Special topics include: How Sean Bean was cast in this film and (spoiler alert) how he LIVES!, the fact that you should really never trust Marita Covarrubias, ...witch hunters??, good concepts and bad executions, and GUCCI GUCCI.

Have you seen this one? What do you think about it? What about the rest of the series? Tell us at facebook.com/werewolfambulance, on Twitter @werebulance or on Instagram @werewolfambulance. We've got a double guestisode for you this week, EMTs-- we're joined by two guests, our friends John and Allison, to discuss the 1992 Francis Ford Coppola epic "Bram Stoker's Dracula." Special topics for your consideration include Youtubing Dracula's hair tutorials, a rough estimate at the percentage of this film that is just heavy breathing, what we were doing in 1992, what in the world Keanu Reeves is doing here, the endless joy of Anthony Hopkins and another critique on incompetent accents.

    Episode 109- The Purge (2013) Nov 21, 2016
    Show notes

Crime night! It's crime night! What are we gonna do? We'll discuss that matter and many more in this week's episode about the 2013 home invasion/weird future film "The Purge." Special topics for your consideration include: how the logistics of legal crimes are carried out when it's a crime other than murder, owning Dean Koontz by marriage, the transitive property of crime in that all murder is crime but not all crime is murder, being or not being Ryder Strong, our real feelings on Gwyneth Paltrow and EATING DINNER, NO PENISES.

Have you seen this one? What do you think about it? What about the rest of the series? Tell us at facebook.com/werewolfambulance, on Twitter @werebulance or on Instagram @werewolfambulance. You can also email us for "Mailbag!" at werewolfambulance@gmail.com. We love to hear from you guys.
