Werewolf Ambulance: A Horror Movie Comedy Podcast

Werewolf Ambulance is a horror movie comedy podcast. Allen and Katie watch horror movies from all eras and of all qualities and then discuss them in a not-so-academic way (just as the name “Werewolf Ambulance” might imply!) and then discuss and rate them. The episodes do contain spoilers, so please watch the films before listening if that bothers you!

    Episode 253- C.H.U.D. (1984) Nov 04, 2019
    Show notes

In this week's episode, we talk about a bunch of people we think we might know from other things with the 1984 sci-fi horror film "C.H.U.D." Special topics for your consideration include: a deep dive on the career and sartorial choices of one Mr. Daniel Stern, a lil bit of baseball talk, sitcoms, cop 'tude, signs of a toxic relationship and the kind of loopiness that we can only muster with a rare afternoon recording session.

If you like "C.H.U.D." and movies like it, you may also enjoy Episode 50- "The Blob," Episode 171- "Ghoulies" or maybe Episode 180- "The Stuff."

Please also go check out our YouTube companion episode for this week, in which we play a new NPR-inspired game called "Wait Wait Don't C.H.U.D. Me" (please do not sue us NPR we like you). While you're there, please subscribe to our channel--you can find it here: https://www.youtube.com/c/werewolfambulance

And if you just can't get enough of us, you can get our faces printed on a t-shirt, throw pillow and more at www.teepublic.com/user/werewolfambulance. If our faces aren't doing it for you, may we suggest Brian from "Wings"??

Have you seen this one? What did you think? Let us know your thoughts at facebook.com/werewolfambulance, on Twitter @werebulance or on Instagram @werewolfambulance. You can also email us for our segment "MAILBAG!" at werewolfambulance@gmail.com and if you're feeling super generous, leave us a rating and a review on Apple podcasts or wherever you can. Episode 252- Hocus Pocus (1993) Oct 28, 2019
    Show notes

In this week's episode we're discussing the 1993 kid-friendly horror film "Hocus Pocus," but a word to the wise: this episode is not kid-friendly as we originally intended. Whoops! Special topics for your consideration include: French aristocrat parties?!, the potential for "peak SJP" and also lightly crushing on Matthew Broderick, what happens when a teenage boy is turned into a cat, wondering whether we actually tried to start a feud with Bette Midler or if we're mis-remembering and the most wonderful time of the year.

If you're looking for a kid-friendly episode, we did exactly one. It's Episode 82- "Coraline." If you're looking for a terribly un-kid-friendly episode, perhaps try Episode 127- "Slither," which is like 80% dick jokes.

Please also go check out our YouTube companion episode for this week, in which we rank the all-time movie witches and open a gift from a listener. While you're there, please subscribe to our channel--you can find it here: https://www.youtube.com/c/werewolfambulance

    Episode 251- Se7en (1995) Oct 21, 2019
    Show notes

As dictated by the popular vote on Twitter (@werebulance), this week we're discussing the film "Se7en." Thanks a lot guys, we feel really great right now. Special topics for your consideration include: where the hell is this movie taking place??, the acting prowess of Brad Pitt, reasons why this movie is so goddamn long, a distaste for Gwyneth Paltrow and, obvs, WHAT'S IN THE BOOOOX?

Big fan of Brad Pitt? First, why? Second, check out our "Interview with a Vampire" episode, number 190. Just into serial killer horror movies? Then you may be interested in Episode 34- "Candyman," Episode 55- "Silence of the Lambs," Episode 133- "The Cell," Episode 139- "Maniac" or Episode 239- "Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon."

    Episode 250- Fear (1996) Oct 14, 2019
    Show notes

In this week's episode, our 250th (!!!), we're asking ourselves the question "who is this movie for, and dear god, why?" with the 1996 horror thriller "Fear." Special topics for your consideration include: how the roller coaster scene affects a 15 year old's brain, the not-so-believable appeal of meth guys, inexplicable Chucky dolls, a Bush sponsorship, potty training theories and WEREWOLF AMBULANCE 4EVA.

Do you like Mark Wahlberg? (If so...why?) Anyway, you can catch him again in Episode 12- "The Happening." Do you like teen romps? You may like Episode 44- "Scream." How about home invasion films? We just discussed "The Strangers" in Episode 243.

Please also go check out our YouTube companion episode for this week, in which we play a game centered around Bush lyrics and taste test another flavor of M&Ms. While you're at it, please subscribe to our channel--you can find it here: https://www.youtube.com/c/werewolfambulance

    Episode 249- Creepshow 2 (1987) Oct 07, 2019
    Show notes

In this week's episode, we're revisiting an old friend we haven't seen since Episode 21 with "Creepshow 2" except now the old friend is weird and like, kind of matted and gross and after awhile you start to feel like maybe reuniting wasn't the greatest idea. Special topics for your consideration include: some confusion over what actually constitutes beautiful hair, misplaced confidence, a cautionary tale for aspiring filmmakers, being surprised at actually knowing things and a few things we love: 80s animation, T-tops and Tom Savini.

If you like anthologies, you can check out Episode 21- "Creepshow," Episode 68- "Trick r Treat," Episode 102- "Holidays," Episode 132- "Tales from the Darkside" and Episode 178- "The Twilight Zone."

Please also go check our our YouTube companion episode for this week, in which we perform a table read and taste test another flavor of Oreos. While you're at it, please subscribe to our channel--you can find it here: https://www.youtube.com/c/werewolfambulance

    Episode 248- Grizzly (1976) Sep 30, 2019
    Show notes

In this week's episode, we continue with our Jaws ripoff rock block while discussing the 1976 land version, "Grizzly." Special topics for your consideration include: defending oneself against a bear attack, Kelly's terrible interpersonal skills, marshmallow-heavy diets, Slurpees, horses, rocket launchers and one terrible joke about a bear and a rabbit.

It's going to be a looooong time before we do another of these Jaws-inspired films, so go ahead and enjoy our other episodes on them: Episode 41- "L'Ultimo Squalo (The Last Shark)," Episode 193- "Orca" and last week's episode, 247- "Piranha."

Please also go check our our YouTube companion episode for this week, in which we play a game that requires the utmost intelligence. While you're at it, please subscribe to our channel--you can find it here: https://www.youtube.com/c/werewolfambulance

    Episode 247- Piranha (1978) Sep 23, 2019
    Show notes

In this week's episode, we're discussing another film from the very specific horror sub-genre called Movies that Rip Off Jaws. This one is from 1978-- "Piranha." Special topics for your consideration include: the fact that this movie stars a dog named Jack Cardwell, extremely weird running and diving, deciding that you're someone's mom just because you hooked up with their dad, Lisa Left Eye Lopes, pluralizing "piranha" and again, because it bears repeating: this movie stars a dog named Jack Cardwell.

You like Jaws ripoffs? Lucky for you, we've covered two of them! Check out Episode 41- "L'Ultimo Squalo (The Last Shark)" and Episode 193- "Orca." And because you love those Jaws ripoffs so much, we're doing another one next week! We'll be discussing the 1976 film "Grizzly" because why wouldn't we?

Please also go check our our YouTube companion episode for this week, in which we play a game, yell about Jaws and do a Mailbag! While you're at it, please subscribe to our channel--you can find it here: https://www.youtube.com/c/werewolfambulance

    Episode 246- Dead Alive (Braindead) (1992) Sep 16, 2019
    Show notes

In this week's episode, we cave to a bit of EMT pressure and cover the 1992 Peter Jackson gorefest "Dead Alive" aka "Braindead." Special topics for your consideration include: the most requested film in a very short period of time, our respective thresholds for being completely grossed out, basing one's relationships on messages from tarot cards, cutie lil zombie baby, and the joy of kung fu priests.

Are you into gross stuff? Yeah, I bet you are, grosso! Check out our Hellraiser series with the original (Episode 51) and "Hellraiser II: Hellbound" (Episode 205) or maybe something even worse: Episode 181- "Tusk."

Please also go check our our YouTube companion episode for this week, in which we have a snack, write a song and do some bonus Mailbags! While you're at it, please subscribe to our channel--you can find it here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5yIiBQ5w6X29GWgf-xb2fA

    Episode 245- Mothman Prophecies (2002) Sep 09, 2019
    Show notes

In this week's episode we take a voyage into our neighbor to the south, West Virginia, for the 2002 cryptid thriller (?) "Mothman Prophecies." Special topics for your consideration include: an AMA about Point Pleasant, the theoretical attractiveness of Richard Gere to women of a particular age, the Mothman's thirstiness, having a bridge phobia in a city full of bridges, the problem with conspiracy theories and the national treasure that is Laura Linney.

We are 99% sure we've only ever done one other cryptid horror film, and that's Episode 93- "Ravenous."

Please also go check our our YouTube companion episode for this week, in which we play another game and do some bonus Mailbags! While you're at it, please subscribe to our channel--you can find it here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5yIiBQ5w6X29GWgf-xb2fA

    Episode 244- Witchboard (1986) Sep 02, 2019
    Show notes

Before we get into this week's episode, we just want to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for the kind words on our first YouTube video. We (or at least I [Katie]) legit cried reading your comments. You are all fantastic and we are so lucky to have you. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

And onto this week's episode! We are returning to Allen's loves of both the mid-80s and hair metal with the 1986 film "Witchboard" starring Tawny Kitaen of Whitesnake video fame. Special topics for your consideration include: the proper pronunciation of ouija ("WEEEE-JAAAAAH!"), the concept of reaching across the veil and asking the dead the dumbest possible questions, waterbeds: what/why?, more inappropriate funereal headwear, and the high highs and low lows of 80s hair.

Some of our favorite episodes of this show covered movies that were released in 1986. Check out Episode 35- "Neon Maniacs," Episode 56- "Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2," Episode 95- "April Fool's Day," Episode 174- "Chopping Mall" or perhaps our favorite of all, our live show, Episode 199- "Terrorvision."

Please also go check our our YouTube companion episode for this week, in which we play another game and have a top important taste test. While you're at it, please subscribe to our channel! You can find it here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5yIiBQ5w6X29GWgf-xb2fA
