    FatBaby | Web37 Daily 013 Feb 09, 2022
    Show notes

Aida Sancho, otherwise known as Fat Baby, is a non-binary NFT artist with several projects under her belt. Projects include FatBaby, Cool Kidz NFT, Clever Girls NFT, and her most recent project, Raptor City Rascals.

Fat Baby got started creating cardboard cutouts of her characters in an attempt to sell her creations on Instagram. Eventually, she noticed the immense amount of opportunity in the NFT space. That’s when Aida decided to launch her own NFT collection called Fat Baby.

She became good friends with other projects in the NFT space and ended up collaborating with The Vogu Collective to create a special edition Fat Baby NFT that sold for a whopping 26 ETH!

This was just the beginning for Fat Baby, as she went on to create several other projects, investing even more time and resources into each project. Fat Baby’s most recent NFT project is the Raptor City Rascals which launched on December 10th, 2021, and is still minting at raptorcity.io.

With such dedication to the NFT space and all of her projects, we believe Fat Baby is an artist that everyone should be made aware of.

    Nyla Hayes Is Making History | Web37 Daily 011 Feb 07, 2022
    Show notes

Nyla Hayes is the artist behind Long Neckie Ladies, the first female-led PFP project (released the same day as World of Women). By any measure, 2021 was a massive year for the young artist. Hayes made history in 2021 as TIME Magazine’s 1st NFT Artist in Residence and has been featured on CNN, Yahoo Finance, Business Insider, Investing.com, Black Enterprise, AfroTech, and several other channels.

Nyla began her artistic journey at the young age of four years old, before turning to digital art around nine. She went on to leverage this natural artistic ability by creating an immensely successful generative NFT project. The long-neck style, which has come to be Nyla’s signature, originated nearly four years ago. “When I was younger, I liked the brontosaurus dinosaur. I like how pretty, long and elegant their necks were. I thought women were the same way, so I thought I’d put the two together,” said Nyla.

Recently, Nyla was announced as one of the artists on the VeeCon lineup, joining an unbelievably impressive roster of artists, musicians, and speakers set to grace what is set to be one of the largest events in NFT history.

    Rebel Society Inspires Badass Women | Web37 010 Feb 04, 2022
    Show notes

Rebel Society is an NFT collection of limited edition female characters created from hand-illustrated elements in celebration of badass women. The collection is created by a husband and wife duo—Elric and Frida—who are passionate about social equality and hope to do their part using the Rebel Society project as their foundation.

Frida and Elric have a background in design and project management, making them the perfect fit for this project. Rebel Society is a special project because it stands for all the women who have been discriminated against for centuries. The Rebel Society collection is inspired by women who went against the demands and expectations of society.

Ultimately, the Rebel Society NFT project exists to give women a voice in the NFT space and help female artists with the onboarding process into the NFT space. This assistance comes in the form of the Rebel Society initiatives stated in the project's roadmap.

    How Art Changed Gavin Meleer’s Life | Web37 Episode 09 Feb 03, 2022
    Show notes

Gavin Meeler grew up outside of Atlanta, Georgia, and has been “all about art” since he was in elementary school. Gavin took three art classes in one semester of high school because a teacher spotted his interest and pushed him to do more of it.Meeler also sold his first art piece just after high school, a 16" x 20" print for $800.

Despite a life-long passion for art and selling his first piece right out of high school, he had to overcome multiple hurdles to be able to produce art full-time.After looking up anything to do to make an extra $100 online, he saw something about NFTs. It was confusing at first.

Gavin didn’t understand the multiple platforms and went deep on learning how an artist could put up their work for sale using NFTs on various platforms. His first ever NFT collector eventually included him in an event with XCopy and Beeple, and GaryVee ended up buying two of his pieces. Gavin also said that his goal is to get his art on platforms like Super Rare or Nifty Gateway, and he hopes that his art will eventually make it to a famous auction house like Christie’s or Sotheby’s.

Listen to this conversation hosted by ONE37pm’s Nick Anderson, where they dive deep into Meeler’s past, where he draws inspiration, and how art has shaped him into the person that he is today.
