We Saw the Devil: A True Crime Podcast

Day-by-day courtroom coverage of the cases everybody’s arguing about, done with the filings in front of me. Not vibes. Not a theory somebody’s cousin saw on TikTok. The actual record: what the witness said, what the document says, which expert has never treated the condition they were hired to testify about. Murder, medical neglect, prosecutorial games, and the cases nobody bothers covering because the victim wasn’t the right kind of victim.

Then the part most true crime skips. Who let it happen. Which agency looked away, which law made it possible, which doctor never returned the call, which department was too underfunded to answer the phone. Every case sits inside a system, and the system is usually the whole story. That’s where the politics shows up, and it shows up because the facts drag it in, not because I went looking for a soapbox.

Hosted by Robin Coleman. Sourced, furious, filthy, and allergic to pretending cruelty is just another perspective. Y’all, this is not a polite little show for people who want everything softened, centered, and served with a bipartisan garnish.

No spin. No filter. Just facts. We don’t do fair. We do factual.

Graham Platner: The Rape Allegation, the Six Day Deadline, and the Maine Senate Meltdown Jul 08, 2026
    Show notes

Graham Platner was beating Susan Collins in the Maine Senate race. Then Jenny Racicot went on the record with Politico and CNN alleging he raped her in 2021, backed by therapist emails, texts, and disclosures that predate his campaign by years.
Within 24 hours, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Ro Khanna, Chuck Schumer, and the Maine Democratic Party all told him to get out. He denies everything. And he has until July 13 to decide.
Robin breaks down the whole ugly thing: what Racicot alleges happened that night and why the paper trail put it over the edge for a certified skeptic. The baggage that was already there, from the Totenkopf tattoo to the Reddit posts to the Blackwater successor company nobody talks about correctly. Why smear campaigns are real AND why this isn't one. Stephen King's terrible take. Why establishment Democrats are not the heroes here, and why the progressive left, from DSA to Bernie world, has a vetting crisis it can no longer afford. Plus the six day ballot deadline, the replacement scramble (Troy Jackson, Nirav Shah, Shenna Bellows), and what has to happen for Democrats to keep this seat competitive against Susan Collins.
Smears are real. So is rape. Both things can be true, and nobody in American politics seems to be able to hold two thoughts at once.
Topics: Graham Platner allegations, Jenny Racicot, Maine Senate race 2026, Susan Collins, Bernie Sanders, Graham Platner drop out, Democratic primary, DSA candidates, progressive politics, candidate vetting, Politico investigation, Senate majority

July 4th: America's Empty Birthday and the Kamala Question Jul 06, 2026
    Show notes

America turned 250 and the party flopped.
ecord 102 degree heat, a lightning evacuation of the National Mall, and a president speaking to rows of empty chairs after 11 p.m., where he misquoted the Declaration of Independence at the document's own birthday party. Then came 850,000 fireworks, a Code Red air quality alert, briefly the worst air of any major city on Earth, and a 100+ post Truth Social meltdown featuring attacks on a federal judge, pool water, and a Home Alone 2 throwback. Meanwhile, hundreds of masked Patriot Front members marched through DC with Confederate flags, and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum declined, three times, to condemn them.
But that's only 25% of the show. The main event: Kamala Harris is running for president, and the receipts say so. The private call to Zohran Mamdani. The closed-door meeting with AOC. The outreach to Uncommitted Movement co-founder Abbas Alawieh and James Zogby. The policy briefings on China, AI, and Venezuela. She hasn't announced, but nobody schedules Venezuela briefings for fun.
So this episode does something radical: it talks about Kamala Harris fairly. The real prosecutor record vs. the meme (1,956 marijuana convictions, 45 state prison sentences, and the reentry program that became a national model), alongside the criticisms that deserve daylight: the truancy law, the Kevin Cooper case, the cash bail brief. The Gaza record, why the skepticism is earned, and why the meetings are the cheap part. The DNC autopsy that blamed her for a loss engineered above her head while never once printing the word Gaza. The double standards no male politician has ever been handed. And the difference between accountability and self-sabotage, because one produces a nominee and the other produces a corpse with great quote tweets.
Politics is not fantasy casting. If the choice is flawed competence or the fire, pretending they weigh the same is how the house burns down. I
    n this episode:

    • The America 250 faceplant: heat, evacuations, empty seats, and the 422,000 claim
    • The Declaration of Independence quote that doesn't exist
    • 850,000 fireworks and DC's Code Red morning after
    • The 67-posts-in-two-hours spiral and the attacks on Judge Sparkle Sooknanan
    • Patriot Front marches while a cabinet secretary calls it "messy democracy"
    • Quick hits: Trump's FIFA phone call and Mallory McMorrow exits the Michigan Senate race
    • The evidence Kamala Harris is running in 2028
    • The prosecutor record, the weed numbers, and what the meme leaves out
    • Gaza: the criticism that carries real weight, and what to watch for
    • The DNC autopsy and the Double Standard Olympics
    • Why smart matters after years of vibes-based governance
    • Accountability vs. purity testing, and the Michigan primary test case

SCOTUS Rulings Day 2: Birthright, Big Money, and Trans Athletes Jul 01, 2026
    Show notes

The Court's last day of the term, and they emptied the clip. Birthright citizenship survives. Campaign finance gets gutted. Trans girls get banned from girls' sports. One win, one robbery, and one where I break from my own side and tell you why.
I read every page so you don't have to. Real case for and against all three, then a Reality Check on what these rulings actually do to this country. Spoiler: the one nobody's talking about is the one that's going to cost you the most.
Cases: Trump v. Barbara. NRSC v. FEC. The Idaho and West Virginia sports cases. Thomas cited Dred Scott thirty-one times. In 2026. We get into it.

SCOTUS Rulings Day One: Trump Didn’t Become King. SCOTUS Became His Landlord. Jun 30, 2026
    Show notes

Today was not “Trump becomes king.” That’s too simple, too tidy, and frankly too flattering to the man currently dry-humping a football he doesn’t realize is on a leash.
On this episode of We Saw the Devil, Robin breaks down the Supreme Court’s decision day and the story most of the coverage is already getting wrong: Trump did gain power, yes. But the Court gained something bigger. It kept the keys.
The centerpiece is Trump v. Slaughter, where the Supreme Court torched a ninety-one-year-old rule protecting independent agency officials from being fired just because the president finds them annoying, inconvenient, or insufficiently obedient. That decision did not just weaken the FTC. It cracked open the entire independent-agency structure and dragged the unitary executive theory out of the Federalist Society basement and into the law of the land.
But the real twist is this: the Court did not simply hand Trump a crown. It handed him a lease.
From Trump v. Cook, where the Court blocked his attempted firing of Federal Reserve governor Lisa Cook for now, to the mail-in ballot ruling, to E. Jean Carroll’s surviving verdict, to the Medicaid work requirement lawsuit, the pattern is the same. The Court is not retreating. It is positioning itself as the final landlord of the executive branch. Trump got more power. The Court kept control.
    This episode covers:

    • The Supreme Court’s decision in Trump v. Slaughter
    • The end of the ninety-one-year protection from Humphrey’s Executor
    • Why independent agencies like the FTC, FCC, SEC, and NLRB are now in danger
    • The unitary executive theory and how a once-fringe legal idea became majority doctrine
    • Why Trump v. Cook is not the clean “Trump loss” people want it to be
    • How the Court protected Lisa Cook while keeping the door open for future Fed fights
    • The mail-in ballot ruling and why the win still comes with a warning label
    • E. Jean Carroll’s verdict surviving Trump’s latest appeal
    • The new Medicaid work requirement fight and how bureaucracy becomes a weapon
    • Sotomayor’s dissent, “chaos will follow,” and the undefined exceptions that give the Court even more power
    • What is still coming tomorrow: birthright citizenship, transgender athlete bans, and campaign finance

    Thanks, Daddy Trump...For Nothing Jun 26, 2026
    Show notes

Y'all. Wednesday was not a weird day for this administration. It was a normal day, and that is the whole problem.
Donald Trump canceled a bipartisan housing bill that would have lowered rent for millions of people. He killed the signing ceremony hours before it happened because he wants Congress to pass the SAVE Act first. That is voter suppression dressed up as a national emergency. He is holding your housing relief hostage. And his own supporters are in the replies typing thank you, daddy like that is a normal response to a man torching your rent relief.
Same day he got into a screaming match with a Republican senator, called him a lunatic, then asked Congress for another eighty seven point six billion dollars for his Iran war that nobody voted for and that even Tucker Carlson is now calling him weak over. He threw himself a Ferris wheel party on the National Mall for America's two hundred fiftieth birthday while the Reflecting Pool stayed green behind him. The Supreme Court handed him a win that makes it easier to strand asylum seekers in danger over a technicality about which side of an imaginary line their toes are touching. My home state of Tennessee put up a granite headstone for fetuses on the Capitol lawn while ranking forty seventh in the country at keeping actual mothers alive.
And the Democrats spent the week calling the candidates their own voters are actually excited about dirtbags.
This episode goes through every receipt. The housing bill hostage situation. The court losses that forced him to Plan B. The Iran war bill. The self inflicted birthday party. The Supreme Court rulings that will get people killed. Tennessee's monument to control. And why the Democratic establishment is more afraid of its own base than it is of any of this.
    Let's go.
Keywords: Trump housing bill, SAVE Act, voter suppression, thank you daddy, MAGA replies, Iran war funding, Supreme Court metering, asylum seekers, border policy, Tennessee maternal mortality, Monument to Unborn Children, Democratic socialists, John Fetterman, dirtbag left, democratic socialists primaries, Trump fitness, Reflecting Pool green, America 250, JD Vance, presidential chaosSupport the show with no ads and no sponsors at patreon.com/wesawthedevil. Tucker Carlson Quit, the Senate Hates Him, and the Pond Won Jun 23, 2026
    Show notes

This was not a normal bad week. This was the week a bunch of people who spent years pretending the emperor had clothes all looked up at the same time and went, oh no.
We open where the country opened: a rotting reflecting pool. A no-bid, $14.5 million renovation that bloomed bright green algae and peeled its custom "American Flag Blue" paint into the water, fixed with hydrogen peroxide that made it worse, then sold to the public as sabotage. Box cutters. A 350-foot slit that grew sixty feet mid-sentence. Five arrests over a pond.
From there it only gets worse for him. Three federal courts ruled against this administration in a single Monday, on voter data, food assistance, and the retaliatory subpoenas aimed at Tim Walz, where a Bush-appointed judge used the word "risible." JD Vance flew to Switzerland to sell an Iran deal and got fact-checked and snubbed by Iran in real time. An Israeli cabinet minister told a country of six million to burn, and a platform called it a public service. Tucker Carlson quit the Republican Party. The Senate openly turned on him. Ken Paxton discovered he loves IVF the same week his own party voted to ban it. And Tulsi Gabbard cleaned out her desk by lobbing one more pre-pardoned Fauci grenade on the way out.
Every story this week is the same story. Botch something, refuse to own it, invent an enemy, point the state at whoever's standing closest. We connect the dots, name the systems, and separate what's confirmed from what's spin.
I'm Robin. This is We Saw the Devil. Go read the ruling. Page one, it's laughable.

Donald Trump & The 3AM Presidency: Insomnia With Nuclear Codes Jun 21, 2026
    Show notes

The most powerful man on the planet is eighty, bruised, posting in the dozens at 3 a.m., and nodding off by the afternoon. His Secretary of State looked at a video of him asleep and told Congress he was awake. Thirty-six doctors signed a warning into the Congressional Record and nothing happened. And every single person close enough to know the truth has a paycheck, a seat, or a legacy riding on telling you he's fine. This week Robin takes apart the machine built to keep you from knowing whether the guy with the nuclear codes still has a working brain. This is not armchair neurology and Robin does not diagnose anyone.
The story is the concealment: who hides presidential decline, who profits, and why America has no honest way to force the truth out of people who would rather you stayed confused and polite. Not a diagnosis. A cover-up.
    In this episode:

    • Why "does he have dementia" is the wrong question, and the trap the cover-up wants you stuck in
    • The receipts: age, chronic venous insufficiency, the bruised hands, the aspirin, the sleeping caught on camera
    • Marco Rubio telling a congressional committee the sleeping man was awake
    • The 3 a.m. posting sprees, sundowning, and the late-night pattern his own side's doctors flagged in writing
    • The "perfect" cognitive test brag, and what the MoCA actually measures (spoiler: whether you can draw a clock)
    • 36 physicians, the Congressional Record, and the silence that followed
    • Who gets paid to say he's fine: staff, party, family, donors, doctors, the press
    • Strength theater: the parade, the tanks, and what the spectacle is really hiding
    • Sanewashing, or how the press launders a meltdown into a policy headline
    • The Biden hypocrisy nobody wants to sit next to
    • A short, ugly history of hidden presidents: Cleveland, Wilson, FDR, JFK, Reagan
    • The 25th Amendment that exists on paper and will never get used
    • Gerontocracy: the bigger rot underneath all of it

The Show Above. The Damage Below: How the UFC Cage Hid the Crime Scene Jun 18, 2026
    Show notes

In **The Show Above. The Damage Below: How the Cage Hid the Crime Scene**, **We Saw the Devil** looks at what was happening underneath the spectacle of Trump’s White House cage-fight event.
The fight night was sold as patriotic entertainment, but the real story was never just the cage. This episode tracks how political spectacle works: keep the audience focused on the lights, the microphones, the slogans, and the outrage while the machinery underneath keeps moving.
Robin breaks down the White House UFC-style event, the racist and transphobic attack on Michelle Obama, the silence from the Trump administration, Bud Light’s corporate cowardice, and the broader pattern of cruelty being treated as entertainment.
From there, the episode follows the damage below: the secretive Iran ceasefire deal, Congress being kept out of the loop, the weaponized Department of Justice, charges against Minnesota protesters, federal agents escaping accountability, attacks on civil rights protections, DHS election concerns, healthcare denial, medical debt, and the public rage surrounding UnitedHealthcare, Brian Thompson, and Luigi Mangione.
This is an episode about authoritarian spectacle, Trumpism, political distraction, corporate silence, healthcare profiteering, voter control, civil rights, protest repression, and the systems people are encouraged not to notice.
**Topics include:** Trump, White House UFC event, Freedom 250, The Show Above. The Damage Below, How the Cage Hid the Crime Scene, Michelle Obama, Bud Light, Dana White, Joe Rogan, Josh Hokit, Iran ceasefire deal, war powers, Department of Justice, DOJ retaliation, James Comey, Letitia James, Gavin Newsom, Minnesota protests, ICE raids, Department of Education, disabled students, civil rights protections, DHS, election security, UnitedHealthcare, Brian Thompson, Luigi Mangione, healthcare denial, medical debt, authoritarianism, American politics, propaganda, and political spectacle.
**We Saw the Devil** covers power, propaganda, corruption, authoritarianism, extremism, media spectacle, and American politics.

    Octogenarian Octagon Jun 13, 2026
    Show notes

America was supposed to turn 250 this year. One man turned it into his own 80th birthday party instead: a cage fight on the people's lawn, a beer sponsor, party lights bright enough to blind a pilot on approach, and a twelve-thousand-dollar coin with his face on one side and We the People on the other.
    Lyrics:
    South Lawn's got a ninety-foot claw
Eighty-seven-foot cage where the rose garden was
Bud Light logos on every wall
Monster Energy sign bigger than God
    Seventy-nine going on eighty
Turns the whole country into his birthday party
    Pay-per-view, eight-ninety-nine a month
While pilots scream "I can't see the runway, cunt!"
They said it was America's two-fifty
But it's just one old man and his UFC grift
    Commodores bailed, Young MC dipped
Vanilla Ice is the only one left on the ship
    OCTOGENARIAN OCTAGON!
His face on the coin, We the People on the back!
    OCTOGENARIAN OCTAGON!
Autopen signed it, he was too busy to sign!
You turned the Mall into a parking lot brawl
And called it freedom, you senile asshole!
    OCTOGENARIAN OCTAGON!
Happy birthday to you, America's gone!
Ring girls in flag bikinis on Flag Day
Violating federal code in the most American way
"Respect the flag!" they screamed for ten years straight
Now it's ass cheeks and stars on the Octagon Girls stage
Crypto dot com and Bud Light holding hands
TKO stock in the president's pants
Sixty million dollars, seven agencies deep
While North Carolina can't afford to show up and weep
They starved the real commission, funneled the cash
To a cage fight and a coin with his face on the stash
    Eleven-thousand-nine-hundred-and-ninety-nine
For a chunk of gold that's worth half that time
    OCTOGENARIAN OCTAGON!
His face on the coin, We the People on the back!
    OCTOGENARIAN OCTAGON!
Autopen signed it, he was too busy to sign!
You blinded the pilots over Reagan at night
Sixty-seven died there, but the lights were too bright!
    OCTOGENARIAN OCTAGON!
Happy birthday to you, America's gone!
    Jane Fonda's eighty-eight throwing a real show
Patti Smith, Bette Midler, five thousand rooms saying NO
While you're in a chair watching men grapple for cash
On ground soaked in marches and blood from the past
They tore up the reflecting pool like it was nothing
Made the Washington Monument your corporate backdrop
You wanted your name on the Kennedy Center too
Judge said "scrape it off" and thirty-five thousand cheered while it flew
    OCTOGENARIAN OCTAGON!
We the People are watching you lose!
    OCTOGENARIAN OCTAGON!
    Your grift's showing, motherfucker, choose!
Bud Light cage, Monster sign, coin made of shame
States walked out, musicians bailed, only the grifters remained!
    OCTOGENARIAN OCTAGON!
This ain't a birthday, this is a con!
    OCTOGENARIAN OCTAGON!
We're burning it down before the next one!
Happy two hundred and fifty, you geriatric clown
    The cage comes down Monday
But the receipts? They're staying around.
    OCTOGENARIAN OCTAGON!
