Enjoy!

Episode 62 // Passing the Mic to Christopher Stricklen Jul 21, 2020
    Show notes

To every season turn turn turn... It is time to for We Got To Hang Out to bring a fresh voice and new perspective to the pod. Bittersweet news as our crew here in Portland is stepping down as hosts and pursuing other creative endeavors. But we are passing the mic over to our new dear friend and your new host, Christopher Cree Stricklen. It's an interview, a conversation, and exchange to which you’re invited. We hope to have your ears and can't thank you enough for all your support over the last 3-4 years. We sent Christopher our mics and H6 Zoom and it's COVID times, so this pod is done over the Zoom app and audio quality isn't quite what it usually is, just an FYI. Patreon will resume and we'll post the video from our zoom chat on there for subscribers. We hope you continue to listen and support the pod as Christopher takes it over. So show him some love!

Episode 61 // The Legendary Jay Sycip of Chris King, Sycip Design May 05, 2020
    Show notes

One thing we know is that Jay Sycip has taste. He's a designer by training, gourmand by appetite, and a fastidious collector of fine things that go fast. It's plausibly true that at one point Jay was considered the San Francisco James Bond. These days he spends his time fine tuning the aesthetic at Chris King Components while pampering his 911 or spending hours aboard his e-bike. Yes he owned a bike company. Yes he owned a nightclub. But we'll get to all of that in the pod.

Episode 60 // Ginger Boyd of Machines For Freedom Apr 01, 2020
    Show notes

We Got To Hang Out with Ginger Boyd of Machines For Freedom! Kyle Kelley and Annalisa co-host this episode at Golden Saddle Cyclery in Los Angeles. We talk to Ginger about her background in bikes, literature and her move out West. We discuss her role at Machines For Freedom, the evolution of Machines and projects that she has worked on over the years. Ginger has had an incredibly positive impact on our community and the industry of cycling, often spearheading marketing campaigns that show us what inclusivity and representation looks like in our sport. Thanks for hanging Ginger and Kyle for the co-hosting!

This podcast is supported by CycleOregon.com, go to their website and sign up for the Gravel ride in October - we’ll see you there!

    Episode 59 // Izzy Sederbaum Feb 18, 2020
    Show notes

This wonderful human took over the pod with insights on inclusivity in language and our beloved cycling community. Izzy started road cycling as a youngin’ on the east coast and now calls the PNW home. He’s a former bike mechanic who dabbles in the gravel and cyclocross scene while working toward a PhD in Public Policy focusing on how policy punishes and criminalizes queerness/trans-ness, especially for youth and young adults. Izzy also opens up and speaks publicly for the first time about an impactful and extremely sad event that took place back in the spring of 2018. We hope you enjoy this important hang out as much as we do! #shoutout

*EDIT - WTF acronym originated from the San Francisco Bike Kitchen organization, not Grease Rag as discussed in this episode.

A special thank you to all our Patreon supporters! If you'd like to help support the pod though a financial donation, please go to patreon.com/wgtho to learn more.

Dillen tells his story about a concussion that occurred at a young age and the insidious onset of pain and reduced function that led to some big life changing events and perspectives. We're here to tell you that the story as he tells it today, is a beautiful and inspiring one. He's an incredible human with an affect that is full of joy sprinkled in with a dose of realism. You don't want to miss this one. Thanks for listening!
