DJs with NO Confidence Will Not Last Apr 18, 2023
    Show notes

Confidence is a critical attribute for a DJ. Without it, a DJ may struggle to engage with the audience, take risks with their music choices, and build a reputation as a skilled performer. Here are a few reasons why DJs with no confidence may struggle to succeed:

    1. Audience engagement: Confidence is essential for engaging with the audience. A DJ who lacks confidence may struggle to make announcements, encourage people to dance, and read the crowd effectively. This can result in a lack of engagement from the audience, which can be detrimental to the success of the set.
    2. Musical experimentation: A confident DJ is more likely to take risks with their music choices and try new things. Without confidence, a DJ may stick to safe, familiar tracks, which can limit their creativity and musical development.
    3. Networking: Building a successful career as a DJ requires networking and making connections with industry professionals. A DJ with no confidence may struggle to approach promoters, bookers, or other DJs, which can limit their opportunities for gigs and collaborations.
    4. Resilience: DJing is a competitive field, and setbacks are inevitable. A confident DJ is more likely to bounce back from setbacks, such as a poorly received set or negative feedback, and continue to push themselves to improve. A DJ with no confidence may struggle to overcome setbacks and may be more likely to give up on their career aspirations.

In summary, confidence is crucial for DJs who want to succeed in the industry. It allows them to engage with the audience, take risks with their music, build connections with industry professionals, and develop resilience in the face of setbacks. DJs who lack confidence may struggle to succeed in this competitive field.

THIS is HOW You Deal With A Tough Audience DJs Apr 18, 2023
    Show notes

Dealing with a tough audience can be challenging, but there are several strategies that DJs can use to win them over:

    1. Stay calm and focused: It's important to remain calm and focused, even if the audience isn't responding as you had hoped. Remember that not every crowd is the same, and sometimes it takes a bit more effort to get them engaged.
    2. Pay attention to the audience: Observe the audience and try to understand their preferences. Are they responding more to a particular genre or song? Are they more receptive to fast or slow music? Use this information to adjust your set and cater to their preferences.
    3. Interact with the audience: Engage with the audience and make them feel like they are a part of the event. Make announcements, encourage them to dance, and use your microphone to connect with them.
    4. Mix it up: Don't be afraid to mix up your set and incorporate different genres and styles of music. This can keep the audience engaged and interested, and may even attract new fans.
    5. Be confident: Confidence is key when dealing with a tough audience. Believe in yourself and your music, and don't be afraid to take risks and try new things. If the audience senses your confidence, they are more likely to respond positively.
    6. Stay professional: Remember to remain professional at all times, even if the audience is being difficult. Avoid getting frustrated or angry, and continue to provide a high-quality performance. This will help you build a good reputation and secure future gigs.

Here are the Do's and Dont's When DJing Internationally Apr 17, 2023
    Show notes

    Do's:

    1. Research the local music scene: Before you play in a new country, research the local music scene and understand the type of music that is popular in that region. This will help you to create a playlist that resonates with the local crowd.
    2. Familiarize yourself with local laws and regulations: Each country has its own laws and regulations when it comes to music, noise levels, and public gatherings. Make sure you understand the local laws before you start playing.
    3. Connect with local DJs and promoters: Networking is key when it comes to international DJing. Reach out to local DJs and promoters to gain a better understanding of the local music scene and to build relationships that can help you secure future gigs.
    4. Be respectful of local cultures and traditions: Different countries have different cultures and traditions, so it's important to be respectful of these when you're DJing. Avoid playing music that could be considered offensive or disrespectful.
    5. Have a backup plan for equipment and technical difficulties: Make sure you have a backup plan in case your equipment fails or you experience technical difficulties during your set. This could mean bringing extra equipment or having a technician on standby.

    Dont's:

    1. Assume that your music will be universally popular: What works in one country might not work in another. Don't assume that the music you play in your home country will be universally popular.
    2. Ignore local tastes and preferences: To be successful as an international DJ, you need to be adaptable. Don't ignore local tastes and preferences in favor of your own personal preferences.
    3. Be disrespectful or dismissive of the local music scene: Even if the local music scene is different from what you're used to, it's important to be respectful and not dismissive. You never know when you might need the support of the local music community.
    4. Overpack or bring unnecessary equipment: Overpacking can be a hassle when traveling internationally, and you may end up bringing unnecessary equipment. Be mindful of what you need and leave the rest at home.
    5. Forget to take care of yourself: International DJing can be a grueling experience, with long flights, time zone changes, and demanding schedules. Make sure you take care of yourself and get enough rest to perform at your best.

If you are a DJ that is looking to expand your online presence, it only makes sense that one of the first places you’ll look out for is the social media juggernaut, Instagram.
