    Wannabe Balanced | MINDSET Coach

This podcast started out as a self help podcast for moms trying to find balance in motherhood and business but morphed into a documentation of Crystal and Sean Escobar’s journey out of the Mormon church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints). The Podcast has been therapeutic on so many levels for its hosts. They vulnerably share their pitfalls and triumphs as they work to deconstruct a lifetime of indoctrination from the LDS church which they exited in the Spring of 2018. Sexual shame, marriage, parenting, science, spirituality, personal development, healing, sex abuse, are some of the topics they focus on.

At episode 100 they both decided they were done processing their experience in the church and shifted their focus on helping others heal and grow in all areas of life. Crystal became a Certified Life/ Mindset Coach in 2020 and now offers free education in personal development via her podcast.

Her mission is to help women overcome past trauma and limiting beliefs, empowering them to create the life they were meant to live through her podcast, Time Management Course, and one on one coaching services.

Schedule a free session with her to find out how she can help you.

Ep #9: Discovering Your Mission and Passion Mar 28, 2018
    Show notes

We all need to feel like we have a purpose, a special mission. One of our basic human needs is growth and contribution. When we go about our lives without any real purpose, we feel unfulfilled, bored, and can even become depressed.

In this episode I walk you through my path in finding meaning and purpose for my life. I share the confusion I felt and how I made little discoveries that led me to where I am now. Podcasting, blogging, creating YouTube videos, and hosting yearly events for women.

What started as an online journal has evolved into something bigger. I've become extremely passionate about helping other moms find balance and purpose in motherhood and business.

Ep #7: Finding Balance as a Mom Mar 14, 2018
    Show notes

I’m not always balanced but I’m really good at NOT being balanced.

Being a well rounded person has always been a goal of mine. I remember even as a young girl I would make “to do” lists that always incorporated mind, body, and soul. Now fast forward to my life as a mom of 4 pushing 40 I’ve realized just how far I’ve come in my quest for balance. We all “wannabe” balanced right?

Being balanced is like being perfect, ain’t no mama got time for that.

I’ve spent most of my motherhood years checking things off my list, as if life were a mathematical equation. Mind + Body + Soul = Balance. If I do A, B, and C, then I’ll be the perfectly balanced mom.

Things never happened that way. For example I would exercise, eat a salad, say a prayer, read some scripture, spend a little time developing a talent like learning the guitar, clean the house, play with my kids, and make dinner. Day after day after day I would follow this simple mechanical formula. I thought I would feel complete, and balanced, like I was doing everything God has asked of me. Instead my checked off tasks felt completely futile and mundane. There was no passion or excitement. I needed a challenge, a purpose, a “WHY”.

I didn’t realize that my quest for feeling balanced and at peace would take much more than just mindlessly doing clear-cut tasks. It would take a lot of brain power to get to where I wanted to be.

I discovered the missing link. My problem was I didn’t quite grasp the “mind” part of balance. And now I believe that balance actually STARTS with the mind. A healthy mind breeds a healthy body, and spirit.

Ep #6: Making The Decision To Have More Kids Or Not Mar 08, 2018
    Show notes

Making the decision to have another baby or not to have another baby is one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make. In this episode I'm sharing the story of when I got my tubes tied only to change my mind a year later. I got the tubal ligation reversal surgery and sharing my thoughts now 6 months post surgery and still not pregnant.
Finding meaning and purpose in the choices and circumstances of our lives brings peace of mind. It allows us to take our MESS and turn it into our MESSAGE.

Ep #5: Contribution | When It's Already Been Done Before Mar 01, 2018
    Show notes

In the past I struggled with understanding my motivation behind the things I do. Like blogging, creating YouTube videos, writing a book, ect. .

I questioned my own intentions based on the opinions of others. .
I felt shameful at the thought that perhaps it was a need for attention or approval.

Like I had deep rooted issues and was trying to fill some sort of void. .
I learned that CONTRIBUTION is a basic human need.

You know the scripture, “the truth shall make you free”?

This TRUTH literally set me free from my own judgments I put on myself.

I realized that my motivations are healthy, pure, and completely normal.

We are children of God, the creator of the universe, which means we too were designed to create and contribute to his beautiful masterpiece.

Ep #2: The Effects of Social Media | The Good the Bad and the Ugly Feb 27, 2018
    Show notes

Some say we post on social media for attention. I admit it’s partially true, but I think totally normal and not necessarily a bad thing. As long as it’s not our driving force and what makes us feel valued as individuals.
God wants us to let our light shine and we can’t do that if we are hiding it.
It’s like saying that someone who loves to sing and has the desire to sing on stage is totally self absorbed and narcissistic.
Let your light shine on others so that we can ALL shine together.
Like feeling inspired by the words of a beautiful song, be that voice singing the song loud and clear for all to hear.
People will have their opinions about you, but sing your song anyway. .
Writing this post reminded me of one of my very first YouTube videos I made over 8 years ago. I called it my American Idol moment. It’s a clip of when I sang to my husband on our wedding day, and the message is that I’m not a “singer” but always wanted to express my love through song on my wedding day. I’m grateful I didn’t let fear and concern for what others might think, keep me from pursuing a once in a life time chance to do this. Here’s the video if you want to watch it.

There’s a lot of talk going around about the negative effects social media can have on people, especially teenagers.
Last week I opened up my social media notifications to find a whole slew of mean comments on one of my posts. There was a time when this would have sent me down a path of sadness and shame, but I’m happy to announce that it didn’t bother me... MUCH☺️. I’m still human and I have feelings but I’m finally beginning to grasp the concept that, what people say and think about you, has absolutely NOTHING to do with you. .
This week I’m going into more detail about this and share some personal experiences too. I think it’s great to raise awareness about cyber bullying, comparisons, perception of perfection, and everything else that goes on when we indulge in this wonderful yet destructive way of being “social”. .
In the mean time, have a great weekend, be nice to others, especially yourself, and don’t take anything personally.
