Imagine That: Ep. 44 - Remembering Walt: Then, Now, and What Could’ve Been Dec 08, 2025

Send us Fan Mail

In this heartfelt episode of Imagine That!, we’re turning our attention to the man who started it all — Walt Disney.

Amanda, Kevin, and special guest Louis from Sunken City Designs share their favorite Walt stories and reflect on the incredible life he led, both before and during the creation of Disneyland. We also explore the many obstacles he overcame to bring his dream to life — from financial risks to public skepticism — and the bold vision that helped him push through.

Then, in a special Armchair Imagineering segment, we ask: If Walt were here today, what would he want to change? From reimagining current lands to dreaming up entirely new experiences, we channel Walt’s relentless curiosity and passion for progress to speculate on how he might evolve the parks he built.

It’s a conversation full of admiration, imagination, and a deep appreciation for Walt’s legacy — and the future he’d still be dreaming about.

✨ We hope you enjoy the view from Walt’s Apartment.

In this special episode of Imagine That!, Amanda and the crew pay tribute to one of Imagineering’s quietest legends — Blaine Gibson.
From animating scenes in Sleeping Beauty and 101 Dalmatians to sculpting some of the most iconic figures in Disneyland, Walt Disney World, and beyond, Blaine’s work shaped the Disney parks in ways most guests don’t even realize. We walk through his early animation days, his unexpected move to WED at Walt’s personal request, and the timeless characters, sculptures, and statues he left behind — including the beloved Partners statue and dozens of animatronic favorites.
Whether you’ve admired the figures in Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, or “it’s a small world”, you’ve seen Blaine’s artistry in action. Join us as we honor the man whose hands helped shape the magic
