Imagineering the New Pirate: What Disneyland Got Right (and Wrong) - Imagine That: Ep. 57 Jul 03, 2026

Show notes

Kevin and Amanda recently returned from Disneyland with one question on their minds: How well does the newly reimagined pirate fit into Pirates of the Caribbean?

In this episode of Imagine That, they share their firsthand impressions after experiencing the attraction in person and dive into a deeper discussion through the lens of the Imagineering Pyramid. From storytelling and character design to immersion and thematic consistency, they examine where the new addition succeeds, where it may fall short, and why changes to beloved attractions are rarely as simple as they first appear.

Whether you're excited about the update, skeptical of the change, or simply fascinated by the art of theme park design, this episode offers a balanced look at one of Disneyland's newest additions—and the Imagineering principles behind it.
