It’s official SEMA week! Then its off to VIP Festival in San Diego hosted by our friends at Autofashion USA. It’s crazy since this is probably the first time in at least 4 years that I have been home for Halloween. Just didn’t work out for me to get to SEMA this year. So much going on back home that I couldn’t really justify being gone for a week or so. Decided going to VIP Fest would be the plan instead.

This week, we asked one of our regulars on our Discord channel to come on as a guest. Donnell B. with an Infiniti M35 from Florida. Always good to hear the stories that people have when it comes to their builds and what brought them along the journey. I appreciate it when people are willing to share what ups and downs they had with their builds. Not all is perfect, but thats the fun and beauty of it.

We hit a few topics along the way, some we brought up again like the whole VIP Car chassis thing with the heritage of that chassis. We even discussed the feelings about sharing your build specs, specifically wheel specs. Take a listen, its interesting.

VIP Lounge Episode 32 Podcast — VIP Lounge Episode 32 Podcast Oct 24, 2017

It’s Tuesday and I got a bit behind on getting the podcast uploaded today. Crazy to think that its the week before SEMA already. It came way too fast to be completely honest. Usually, once we get to October we start to feel that SEMA crunch that seems to find us right before the event. I just didn’t feel that this year and all of the sudden here I was looking at the calendar and I see my invite to Joey Lee’s The Chronicles event this weekend. I’m like it can’t be, that event is the weekend before SEMA… Oh, wait………

For episode 32, we didn’t have any special guests. We usual crew was on this week. James, Chris, Rene, Dennis and I were joined by Elvin and David of Endless Projects. We went over our past week with a few of us actually having a weekend filled with car events. I got to check out 2 completely different events with 2 completely different atmospheres. It was really interesting and I think I wasn’t that surprised. You can check it out. David had some great questions later in the podcast that you will want to hear our answers on.

Episode 31 is upon us. This week we missed having Rene and Dennis since they were traveling. James just got back from Georgia as well. These guys are always traveling, I can’t believe we still figure out a way to get together every week to record this podcast. These guys are all super busy plus working with our guests, it’s nearly impossible.

This week we asked our friend Paul Cotaco from Vankulture to be our guest. It was really last minute as well. Paul has been deep into our car culture for quite some time now. I vividly remember when Vankulture came into reality. We all knew, there is a genre that hasn’t really been tapped yet. This is going to grow and grow rapidly. VK is pretty much now a worldwide phenomenon. With chapters all over the world, Paul has created a community of van owners who really didn’t have a place in the car culture. I remember people saying to me when I was talking VK up, “I got some orange slices and Capri Suns for the van guys.” Don’t get me wrong, I got a lot of Capri Sun’s readily available for the boys, but having a custom Toyota Sienna wasn’t widely accepted a few years back. Now, I am seeing a lot of vans at many different events all around the US.

Take a listen, it’s always good to hear the stories of our colleagues who started something out of passion and turn it into something worldwide.

VIP Lounge Episode 30 Podcast — VIP Lounge Episode 30 Podcast Oct 10, 2017

We made it to Episode 30. I’m still a bit geeked out on the fact that the Star Wars Last Jedi tickets finally went on sale and the trailer finally dropped. I was sort of scheduling my day around the fact that the trailer was scheduled to drop during halftime of Monday Night Football last night. Figured that would be around 7 pm and should give me ample time to get over it a bit before jumping into Discord to record the podcast. I was wrong. I was still hyped all on it. Probably one reason why I lagged on posting this was that I was shooting theories with my Star Wars buddies throughout the morning.

This week we asked Pauly to come back to discuss how Black West went and also invited Brandon of Liberty VIP to also join us. Brandon drives an “F50” Q45 that truly defines the term Big Body VIP. That platform is also another underrated platform. Especially when you do the President conversion on that chassis. Thankfully we found time for Brandon to briefly tell us his story about why he chose the F50 chassis and also future plans for an already amazing build.

Rene also goes over his “hot” issue he ran into while on his way down to Black West. Pretty crazy if you ask me, honestly it was the first time I had heard of it so it just shows how calmly Rene dealt with it and moved on from it.

VIP Lounge Episode 29 Podcast — VIP Lounge Episode 29 Podcast Oct 03, 2017

Finally got to finish the edit of the podcast. Can’t believe we are sitting on Episode 29. We may have missed a few days but we never missed a week to record the podcast. I know it’s not some crazy milestone but it’s something that I am extremely proud of now. We have become some quirky bunch with some serious touches here and there. Making the transition to a live recording where people can listen to us live and chat with us accordingly has been fun. Since we moved to that, sometimes the podcast can seem off cause we are laughing about something in our Discord chat. Usually, it’s the meme’s or the old photos that someone digs up. I decided to create a video to upload so that people can check that out as well. If you can, join us live on our Discord channel. It’s a lot of fun. Also, I’ve been wanting to try out not having a guest setup and just open up the mic to people who join us live on Discord. That’s what we did this week. We brought Pauly back so he can spread the word on the recent change of venue for Black VIP West Coast. The Same day, new location. It will be at K1 Gardena. So if you go to the Source OC this weekend, you will find no one there. Be sure to go to K1 Gardena for Black VIP West Coast. Thanks for jumping on Pauly. We also brought in Danny Salazar and David Li both of Endless Projects. Two guys who are really passionate about this car stuff and just all around good guys. This may be a trend for us now. I kinda liked the idea of mixing this type of show in.

This episode we wanted to talk about horror stories of owning VIP Cars, but I got bamboozled to talk a little about my story and how I got started again. Thanks guys!!! haha. I also learned a lot about my setup when recording both the audio and video portion of the podcast. I gotta get my network up to par so I can take advantage of the Gigabit Fiber I have coming into the house. Where my office is located on the lower floor, I was barely getting 5Gbps last night when if I just record upstairs near my wireless router, I can at least take advantage of the network speed at around 500Mbps. Probably will need to address this sooner than later.

This week’s guest is Pauly Tran from Liberty VIP / West Coast VIP. He’s currently working with Agi, also from Liberty VIP / Luxury Abstract, in putting together Black West Vol 1. Pauly has been through some dope VIP Cars. His 2nd gen GS was out of this world and ahead of its time, I think. I am also very biased towards 2nd gen GS but that’s another story altogether. Now driving an M37 on what are one of my favorite set of wheels of all time, the Work Emitz. Originally from Philly, he’s now out on the West Coast and joined up with some notable VIP Car folks in Southern California. There has been a good influx of VIP Car meets which Pauly has had a hand in. Good to see this VIP Car stuff thriving and growing.

VIP Lounge Episode 27 Podcast — VIP Lounge Episode 27 Podcast Sep 19, 2017

Good morning! Back on track with the podcast and had to bring on one of the OG VIP guys out there. I was thrilled when Max DeMasters from Liberty VIP accepted the idea of being a guest on our podcast. Running with a non-traditional platform as well. It’s great to hear his story and his view on things. It’s something I didn’t mention last night because I was so caught up with just listening to his story that its refreshing to know that someone built his car regardless of what is out there. I see a lot of “Why build that car, it’s not a cool car.” or “Why build that car, everyone has that car.” So what is it? Which one are you going to pick? With Max, it didn’t matter what ANYONE else was thinking, he was going to build HIS CAR, HIS WAY. I appreciate that and I will always respect that.

Last night was a perfect reason why we decided to record these podcasts live with a chat room. It isn’t about “the download numbers” or “the impressions” the podcasts will get for us. I just want us as a community to get together again. Regardless if we don’t agree with each other’s opinion or are bothered for some odd reason by a certain person. That doesn’t matter, but getting a group of like-minded individuals together. We spend so much time bickering or putting each other down over some stupid shit. Everything feels like there is some hidden agendas or some personal gain from all of this. Well, my agenda is simple… Bring back a community. I can’t expect everyone to all want to get down with it because so many folks are close-minded or only care about themselves. I get it, I really do. However, I just want to share my thoughts not to change those who will always keep their minds closed but to let everyone who wants it to change that they are not alone. We got a home for you. It was the principle we started VSC on many moons ago. VIP Car builds weren’t accepted in almost all online communities back then, so we created our own.

Shout out to the Liberty VIP crew for staying up late to support their boy Max. So crazy to see a large group of the crew comes out to support their boy. It was a lot of fun to just enjoy the moment and share a few laughs. I appreciate you guys for it and respect the support shown. I was humbled by it.

VIP Lounge Episode 26 Podcast — VIP Lounge Episode 26 Podcast Sep 12, 2017

You gotta hear this one. It was one for the ages. We brought on a special guest that I knew would bring some topics forward that we may never discuss. While it’s not really in the VIP car realm, it’s something that I always believed in. We brought in a good friend from the Domestic car realm, our friend “Spider”. He drives a Corvette grand sport. We basically talk about the differences between the Import and Domestic car event world. Plus discuss the events where we try to diversify it and bring both together. Yes, we get extremely passionate during this podcast and even get defensive on both ends. It is still a great podcast to check out. Some great questions brought up by Spider, James, Rene, and Dennis. While not everyone’s experience will be the same as ours or Spiders whenever we go outside of the box and go to a different genre of a car show, it is still something that we should all try out sometime. I enjoy going to car shows now a days that isn’t from the Import genre. I like to see what other genres are doing plus all of the innovation that they may have that we don’t think of.

With episode 24, we decided to move our podcast over to a chat / voice software named Discord. Discord is popular as “team speak” for gamers and after using it to coordinate some gaming opportunities, I thought that this might work for us. What I wanted to accomplish was to allow people to listen to us “LIVE” as we recorded our weekly episode. Included is a live chat room that listeners can interact with us instantly. Man, what a weekend. Pretty much the Wekfest East event can humble you quickly and it surely humbled me. I try to see it from every angle possible. From the people who enter their cars, from the vendors, from the spectators, from the venue management, and from our point of view. Its always tough because theres always a give and take with any of that. As much as we want to get it perfect for everyone, it’s a grueling thought process. I didn’t get the load in right for the first time in my career of loading in venues and events. I missed getting in a few cars. Regardless of whos at fault, I’m not here to point fingers at anyone but myself. Not Wekfest, not the venue, not any vendors, or anyone. We all have something to add to it. I should of planned out things differently and I should of tweaked things a bit more than I did. What I was proud to see was that everyone was trying to come together to figure it out. Of course in the end it didn’t entirely work out but I tried. Some vendors, mainly RAVSpec, was gracious enough to move things around and condense things as much as possible to fit in more cars. I think they were unfortunately targeted by some unhappy guests about RAVSpec having too much room but in the end they didnt know they were trying to help us out by allocating more space when they didn’t need to. The cars were great though. I got to see some bad ass VIP Cars there. Nate (Q45), Sermon (3rdGen GS), and Mike(LS400) came out with some heat. “VIP All Stars” they listed as their team name on their cars. Japanese Classics brought out a fantastic booth showcasing the cars they imported here into the US. As always, good catching up to everyone out there. I’m glad that even with everything going crazy around us, we were still able to catch up and just see how everyone is doing. I hope to come back again for other reasons. I would love to see more of the cars out there. So with that, here is Episode 23!

VIP Lounge Episode 22 Podcast — VIP Lounge Episode 22 Podcast Aug 15, 2017

Episode 22. Usually podcasts before and on the weekend of an event where we have to travel out of state from is tough. So much going on with prep and the actual event itself that I tend to either get really distracted or I just feel anxious. However, it does bring a different energy to the podcast when we finally sit down and do it. At least for this week I know I felt better.

We brought on Dennis Tangonan of Liberty VIP from Seattle, WA. Originally from Guam and built a fantastic Junction Produce GS300 out there. I show my bias towards builds like that. I love the Junction Produce look, I always will. When we finally got Dennis on, I realized we have a long list of guests who we’ve invited or have asked to come on. So hang in there, we record once a week so we are trying to get all of you on.

VIP Lounge Episode 21 Podcast — VIP Lounge Episode 21 Podcast Aug 08, 2017

I got really behind on getting this podcast out to you guys. My apologies. We recently released a new shirt so a lot of my attention has been focused to that over the past week and this morning I jumped into working on the shirts that I forgot to finish this podcast! Still working out the kinks to my new Microphone as I start to work on different ways of changing the podcast up a bit. Crazy, sometimes I should just remind myself to slow the f**k down and just enjoy whats in front of me.

This week’s podcast we bring on Johnel Vidad and Nick Ross from Houston, TX. I always had an affinity for the Texas scene and recently was blessed with the creation of an Endless Projects TX. I couldn’t get my words together at some points because of how excited I am with this. Johnel and Nick both joined along side with Thomas and many other good friends of ours through our many travels to Texas. Johnel and Nick also own a company named Lucky Brakes (). Check out their brake setups when you can. Also both of them are some of the first members of VSC from back in the day. They go in depth about the builds they had, Johnel had one of my favorite 2GS builds from back then. Then out comes Johnel’s LS460 with the updated front end and Aimgain widebody. Nick had a DC plus a 2GS as well but now owns a couple legendary LS’s, LS400 and LS430.

This episode, we just went into our conversations. No scripts, no preparations of bullet points. I would much have that organic feel than one that sounds like a news report. VIP Lounge Episode 19 Podcast — VIP Lounge Episode 19 Podcast Jul 25, 2017

The most awkward podcast we have ever recorded but that is not a bad thing. Usually when we record the podcast, the four of us are sitting in our respective offices / rooms in different parts of the country. I’m usually staring at my computer screen to make sure that everything is recording properly. This time around we decided to try and record the podcast while at an event. We got the opportunity to record at this past weekend’s Spocom event in Anaheim, CA. We brought on a few guests as well and it was seamless.

We started off with Colton who drives a BMW 7-series. Built from the ground up in his backyard. Next guest was Frankie, an avid VIP Car enthusiast with passion for photography. We then brought on Josh, the builder behind “BrokeY33” which was extremely ahead of its time when he had it. Lastly, we brought my good friend DPK David who is one of the most passionate car guys I know. You got to hear the ideas / stories of 4 guests with different backgrounds.

VIP Lounge Episode 18 Podcast — VIP Lounge Episode 18 Podcast Jul 18, 2017

Today we decided to go off the beaten path for us and discuss photography. I’ve been really into it in the past but it dropped off a bit. I even decided to change environments from Canon to Sony to change things up. I’m fortunate to be around some amazing photographers from time to time like Joey and Tiffanie from the Chronicles, Mark Enriquez, and many others that I seem to keep the fire alive for it.

I asked James to bring on two photographers he works with, Steven Santiago and Jose Torres. I wanted to do one week of non-car talk and try out some photography talk. We didn’t get too technical thankfully but we shared our usual insight. It’s been pretty stressful lately for me personally so I think it was nice to just “enjoy the conversation” for once. I think every now and then we will leave the VIP Car world and try other things. Won’t happen too often but I think for sanity reasons, it is needed and interesting. Just recently got back from Wekfest Seattle and I couldn’t believe just how tired I was. It honestly shows on this podcast with my voice plus some glaring mistakes I decided not to edit out. I had a great time in Seattle though. Everyone was extremely gracious to us. I actually got some photo coverage that I will post later today.

Today, Chris is galavanting in Detroit, MI so Rene came on to fill in. We just went over our weekends with Rene going camping and then working on his GS300. James had a slight run-in with the law so he had to adjust his LS460 for that as well.

With that, I could share the same thoughts here on Wekfest Seattle but I think listening to the podcast would serve it better.

Episode 16 was one for the memory banks. Today we brought on a very special guest, Agim Jones from Luxury Abstract. We were excited to bring him on and I decided to give the podcast to you in its rawest form. I just added the music and let it go. VIP Lounge Episode 14 Podcast — VIP Lounge Episode 14 Podcast Jun 20, 2017

Episode 14 is now live. We invited our good friend Thomas Pinai to join us on this week’s podcast. Thomas hit us up with a topic in regards to addressing what we look for when we judge cars at a car show. Instead of answering the question for Thomas, we invited him on to discuss it with us. Thomas is a true OG in the car game and a true automotive enthusiast. He owns just about every type of genre out there as a build. It is something to truly appreciate.

Also back is our favorite regular, Rene Garcia. It’s the calm before the Wekfest San Jose / San Francisco storm. Like I said in podcasts before, recording these episodes has become my comfort zone. No matter how stressful or busy we get in our everyday lives, these podcasts always seem to make the time a bit more relaxed. Could be the fact that I just enjoy talking cars with my friends and this is just an extension of that.

Unlucky number 13! We waited until the NBA Finals were over to record so I personally was siting on a high that I got when watching the Finals with my boys. Chris however, as one of the few true Lebron fans I know, was feeling the loss. Sorry bud! I love the Bay Area and Kevin Durant is one of the few NBA players I care to follow through their career. Without getting into the debate about KD and his move, congrats on your first championship. And you too Matt Barnes! lol

We brought Rene back today and we dug into our archives for a couple of questions. We answered the first question in regards to our personal preference on Wheel fitment. We share our opinions on this matter. The second question, we talk about cars we owned in the past and if we would ever stop working on a VIP Car.

Usually I just listen to a podcast just once after I finalize it and then post it up. This episode I actually found myself listening to this a couple times before I realized I needed to get it posted. My bad! This week we had the honor of having Joey Lee from The Chronicles as a guest. Joey shared his thoughts and insights on how he got started plus he touched on his Y33 build. Not many people knew that Joey had a VIP Car build in the background. It’s undergoing a rebuild and hopefully we will see it soon!

We also answered a question on our thoughts on Suspension setups. Mainly Coilovers vs Air Suspensions. People thought we would skirt around that question but we “aired out” our thoughts on it.

I do hope you all enjoy this episode like we did. We had a lot of fun and at certain times forgot we were actually recording a podcast.
