    Remove Your Dog's Stress in under 6 minutes/day - FB Live Feb 10, 2021
    Show notes

There are dogs that carry stress especially in the environment that is unstructured to them. It's important for us to remove as much stress as we can. In this episode I talk about the 4 steps to remove stress from your dog:

    1. Structured Feeding

    2. Calm Mindset before the walk

    3. Structured Walk

    4. Structured Play

    Bonus: Crate Time

Your Dog & The Correct Crate Size - Chit Chat Feb 08, 2021
    Show notes

The common mistake for dog owners is to get a crate that is WAY too big for their dogs. We have to remember that dogs are "den-dwellers" which means they like their small spaces. Matt and I discuss how you can determine what the best sized crate is for your dog.

Your Dog & Excessive Licking - WLVB Radio Short Feb 06, 2021
    Show notes

I come across this behavior of excessive licking quite a bit. It can be a sign of many things however we need to know what's going on in the dog's life before we can address it.

New Jersey Dog Trainer Dana Beck - FB Live Feb 03, 2021
    Show notes

Dana and I first met at a work here in Vermont a couple of years ago and the other night I was trying to kill some time so I asked her to join me on Facebook.

We spoke a lot about COVID dogs and what we as trainers are seeing as trends with behaviors. We got into a good conversation about how working with our clients can put us into tough situations but we wouldn't change it for the world.

Your Dog & Your Expectations - FB Live Feb 01, 2021
    Show notes

I'm not gonna lie, I came down hard in this video which was from a live feed on my Vermont Dog Trainer Facebook page. It was a follow up to another live video where I asked what everyone's #1 struggle with their dog was.

We have to be realistic of our expectations, otherwise we are setting up our dogs (and us) to fail.

Your Dog & Spelling W-A-L-K WLVB Radio Short Jan 30, 2021
    Show notes

I run into a lot of clients that can't say the word "walk" in front of their dog because of the reaction they get. However this is something you can easily fix.

Start by just saying the word "walk" in a normal voice and don't do anything or even acknowledge your dog. Wait for him/her to calm down from it and say it again. Wait for him/her to calm down from it and say it again. Repeat these steps until your dog has no reaction, problem solved.

Your Dog & Boredom vs. Learning - Talking Dogs Radio Show Jan 28, 2021
    Show notes

Boredom and Learning are on 2 opposite ends of the spectrum in my opinion. On one end you have boredom which can lead to many bad behaviors with your dog. On the other end you have learning which can lead to knowledge, exposure, and a stronger bond with your dog.

And in the middle of this spectrum is a grounded and content dog. One that is being fulfilled and listens well to you, as long as you are keeping them mentally engaged.

Your Dog & Learned Helplessness - Chit Chat Jan 25, 2021
    Show notes

This was a phrase that was brought up to me me a couple of weeks ago. It refers to a dog not having a choice in what the handler is doing to the dog. I think there are some misconceptions here and Matt and I give some great examples of it.

    What are your thoughts?

Your Dog & How Everything is Temporary - Talking Dog's Radio Show Jan 21, 2021
    Show notes

That behavior you dislike, it's temporary. That pulling on the leash, it's temporary. Does your dog get you up in the morning? That's temporary.

I know I sound crazy (and sometimes I am), but once you understand how this works you can help your dog through tough situations. Your patience will increase and you will be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. One thing you have to remember is:
