Vince Lozano is an accomplished character actor most known to you as Jacoby in Pirates of the Caribbean - Curse of the Black Pearl. And he's one of those actors that's always working and constantly doing film and TV projects. We talk about how a simple 2 word audition led to 5 weeks of work on Pirates of the Caribbean. It's a great lesson on saying yes to everything. We'll also dig into how he went from being a jock to a dancer to an actor and made his way in the big business of LA and what he's up to now.
Plus comedy from Paco Romane and the song "Strike The Bell" by Pride Of Bedlam.

Ed "ET" Fox is a respected author who's combined his love of research and pirates into a half dozen fantastic pirate history books. He's also been able to bust some of the myths that you and I have been believing about pirates for years. Some really interesting stuff in this interview.
When you look for his books, be sure to look for ET Fox as searches for Ed Fox will lead you to a way different kind of book that has nothing to do with pirates and could get you called into the HR office.

Capt'n Tor and the Ne'er Do Well Cads Pirate Invasion are a highly theatrical pirate music experience. In this interview Tor and 1st mate Gwenyvarr Blackshades Lovelocket sit down with me to dig into their philosophies behind the show, the music, being full time pirates, and how they've helped people discover new things about themselves by taking on a fictional pirate character.
Their enthusiasm is infectious and if you don't feel the need to hang out with these after listening to this talk, you're dead inside. :)

Tom Butler heads up Green Feet Games where they're working on their new board game, The Pirate Republic. And he's got some really interesting ideas about game design that I think you'll dig.
He's also a Special Ops Combat Rescue Officer in his day job. Heck of a day job. So of course we can't let that go by without some discussion. But we were able to neatly tie in to both his board game and the history of pirates. Really intriguing stuff.

Matt Stone is the founder and head honcho of Sea Wolf Clothing and Buccaneer Board Riders. He's in the biz of making cool casual pirate clothes for pirate fans, tourists, and surfers.
This talk goes in totally unexpected directions right off the bat. Matt's favorite pirate musician will surprise you. We'll talk about his deep (blood) relations to the Pirates of the Caribbean films, his background in high fashion (and the famous designer who told him to move back to California).
Plus you'll find out which piece of clothing he thinks needs to go, but just won't die.

On this episode we sit down with all the members of Brigada Pirata, Turin, Italy's best (and probably only) pirate band.
These dudes are tons of fun and super high energy. In between telling us about their extremely varied musical backgrounds, they'll break out in spontaneous song.
The accents run thick and deep, but this is a really fun talk that you might have to listen to a couple times to catch all the gems.

Captain Davy is a former stuntman turned pirate entertainer. And 26 years in, he's one of the longest running pirate entertainment acts around.
We talk about what made him go into a pirate character at a time when pirate fandom was at a low point and how it's evolved over the years.

Coming to you from Chicago this week with an interview I recorded a couple weeks ago in Florida with Veta, Ashley, and Mike of Salty Sam's Pirate Cruise in Fort Myers.
The task of putting on a show for all age groups in the confines of a ship is an interesting one. And we'll dig into what goes into their show, how they run it, and where their characters come from.
And a little pleading/ranting/complaining and a story about a man in a truck from me at the beginning.
Plus comedy from Pete Munoz and a song called "Burning Van" from Big Mean Sound Machine.

Another episode of Blackbeard stories? Yes! But from a different angle. Courtney Page and Kim Kenyon are part of the Queen Anne's Revenge wreck project.
They've got great stories about the wreck itself and their part in bringing all the cool stuff up to the surface for conservation. Plus we'll get the origin stories of how they each came to be on the project.

Happy Halloween! I got this week's episode out a day early for you because Michael Manerchia, president of the Marcus Hook Preservation Society has some great ghost stories to give you a few Halloween shivers.
Marcus Hook, PA was a haven for pirates during the Golden Age - a secret party town where the pirates could blow off some steam. It was also a regular hangout of Blackbeard and Stede Bonnet. And...so the legend of the house goes... Blackbeard's mistress.
Michael has some really fascinating stories about the town of Marcus Hook and the houses that made him an accidental archaeologist.
Plus comedy from Justin Hoff, who you can also see more of in the video below.
Sorry, no music this week. I put the word out for bands to send me stuff to play and didn't get a response. And I'm on the road performing and didn't have time to chase them down. Today's show is sponsored by:
